LanceVance
I am currently having some machine work done to my valve cover, so I don't have access to it (nor do I have the appropriate measuring tools for that matter) but I need some measurements off one. I've been contemplating ways of using -AN fittings instead of the breather tube that doesn't involve having an adapter fitting between the cover and the fittings. I want as clean of a solution as possible, so I came up with the idea of drilling out the hole in the valve cover and passing a flared male -AN fitting through from the inside and welding it on the inside of the cover. With this method I can put a 45° female hose end flush against the valve cover, and all the welds would be conveniently hidden from sight! What I don't know is the size of the hole as it is from the factory, and what size hole I would need to drill to allow an appropriate sized -AN fitting through. Anyone with suggestions on what size -AN fitting (I'm thinking -8, but I'm not sure?) and what size hole I would need drilled out would really be appreciated! cockerstar
I'm not sure on the size of the stock breather hole, but here are some links for reference: AN thread sizes: http://www.gre6.com/ansize Corresponding drill sizes: http://www.physics.ncsu.edu/pearl/Tap_Drill_Chart.html Edited March 8, 2011 by cockerstar
