kitami-san
I have a 1982 l28et that i have rebuilt, im trying to hook up my megasquirt i think i have this figured out but i need confirmation that im not wrong before i go ahead. I know for most this will be a dumb question but please bare with me 1981 CAS on crank pulley 1982-83 CAS on distributor Is that correct? because if it is i have a 1982 with CAS on crank pulley. why is that, is there a certain month they started on that in 1982? which is better to use for Megasquirt?, Distributor CAS, or pulley CAS or am i totally backward and lost? help please. stravi757
Yes, 82-83 will have the CAS inside the dizzy. They look much different from the 81 dizzy. If you pop off the cap you will see a metal plate with 360 slits in it, the 81 dizzy doesn't have this. Cant say which is "better" because I dont know for sure, but my guess would be there is no difference assuming your just using the 82-83 dizzy as your CAS and not for spark. It will make a cleaner install to go with the CAS on the crank pulley, but that's about it I think.
kitami-san
so the crank CAS and the distributor CAS are basically the same and since i have MegaSquirt N' Spark, i can eliminate the distributor entirelyand go with an EDIS, right? wierd that the motor came out of an 82, i guess they must have continued with the 81 style into early 82.
