  1. My new 1975 Datsun 280z project!

I'm having some trouble getting my 280z running. I have had the engine soaking for months and when I try to turn it over it makes a loud click noise and then stops. If anyone could help me try to figure this out it would be appreciated.
  2. My new 1975 Datsun 280z project!

I was using the rust penetrant to clean out the cylinders. The cylinder walls are rusted to the pistons. And thanks for the help and the links!
  3. My new 1975 Datsun 280z project!

I did not make this chart but I found it to be very helpful so I figured I'd post it in here in case it helps anyone else!
  4. My new 1975 Datsun 280z project!

I made some progress yesterday, I refilled all the cylinders with a rust penatrating fluid to try and help it come loose and replaced some old lines. I replaced the hose going into the side of the valve cover and the fuel line that goes into the top of the fuel filter. I will probably need to replace some others soon but these two were especially bad.

  6. My new 1975 Datsun 280z project!

So I am new to the forum and I figured I would post to show the process of restoring my new Datsun and hopefully get some help and good tips from other members as I go! I recently bought this and it is my first Datsun! The car was sitting since 1991 before I bought it and right before it was parked it was inspected and serviced and has paperwork to prove it that i found in the car, but the previous owner also left it sitting outside with the spark plugs out and the hood popped open . I have siphoned out any fluid in the holes and it seems to just be some oil with a little bit of rust in it. So over the next few days/weeks I'll be soaking it to try and make it move free. Fingers crossed that the rings will hopefully be OK!
