max camshaft lift

I bet you would have better luck if you did a search over at LS1Tech.com.

 

Just a note, piston to valve has more to do with cam duration and lobe seperation vs total valve lift.

 

Typically its the exhaust valve that has the most issue since the piston is 'chasing' the exhaust valve as it closes.

I can only assume you are trying to shove the biggest cam you can find in it in hopes that it will make you have a gazillion horsepower?

 

That would be my guess...

 

Even though he doesnt have the heads and/or compression to support it with a stock LS1...

Exactly. If he finds a cam that is large enough to crash the stock valves and pistons, the stock bottom end and stock unported heads wont be able to make use of that cam's RPM capabilities and power potential. :blink::unsure:
