thought i would start one for my early 260z

Recommended Posts

so im not exactly new here but i do have a 260z as my project car... heres the link to my car domain... http://www.cardomain.com/ride/3349288/1

im going to start posting here first instead of there.

well my project has been going along at a snail's pace, but thats because im in high school and jobless. but now that im graduating it kinda sparked me to get the car into shape so i can have something to take to college. so, ive been trying to put in as much time and money into it as possible and things are starting to take shape.

ill get some pictures up on here as soon as i find the time

well i didnt get nearly as much done as i wanted to, but none the less i still managed to get some stuff done.

i sanded my headers and prepped them for paint which will happen tomorrow.

took acetone to all my trim and windows to get paint and tape residue off from when the car was painted.

and i tried to paint and prep some parts of my engine bay. my brother was kinda pushing me to paint while the headers and intake are out, but being sort of a perfectionist, i would like to rip the engine out and strip the bay of everything before painting both the block and engine bay. (my brother loves cutting corners.) so he sprayed part of my engine bay anyways.

Do you think i should continue???

bad paint starting to rust

SDC10151.jpg

tried using this ... got nowhere

SDC10152.jpg

did this with a flat head screwdriver

Is your car an automatic? If so and I'm pretty sure it either is or was at one point. That button is the Kick down switch, which down shifts the auto transmission for when you need to get up a hill or take off fast. ;)

all right... todays list of finished items.

- high heat paint on headers.

- started and finished passenger side carpet.

- cleaned floor pans with wire wheel, vacuum, then painted with rustoleum flat black.

- tore out brown padding from under seats cuz they were making a ridiculous mess and made replacement padding as a substitute.

- went to walmart, bought seafoam for later

sorry no pics. maybe tomorrow ill post pics of the finished products.

If you haven't yet, I would HIGHLY recommend taking a day or two to scrape all of the factory sound deadener from the floors and hatch.

damn... uhhh ... i think its 2 days too late for that. =| i reaaaalllllyyyyy should have done that. what problems do u think may arise???

Keep up the good work buddy. I am in the middle of what feels like a never ending project on my Z! mainly because it is toooooo fun to drive to leave in pieces for the entire summer again.

yea im really feeling that way now... i just want to enjoy it. but there is so much i want to get done with it that the end seems so far away, and it might not even run properly.... if it doesnt run right when i put it all back together i think ill throw in the towel and send it in to a z specialist...
