  1. :banghead: The fuel pump was up-side-down and the lines were not connected tight enough. Man, I am in over my head with this swap. I have to move to S.F. this Sunday as my girlfriend starts her new job on the 24th of July. I am truely at my wit's end with this wiring thing too. I should have just stuck with carbs.......... Too bad I sold them........... Lazy eyed and beat to a pulp sigining off.
  2. I'm in the process of a L28et swap into my '71Z. I've mounted and hooked up my fuel pump, and reused the original metal gas line going to the injectors. My question here is, will the smaller RETURN line that originally came on my Z be sufficient for the higher volume gas flow back into the tank?

  4. I'm doing a turbo swap in my 240z right now. Actually I'm also doing an L28 swap in another guys car too. My garage is chaotic. I'm at the point your were at when you knew nothing about turbos. I'm waiting on my clutch, then it's off the races, well off to the dreaded wiring anyway.

  5. I heard that someone did a turbo wiring sticky for a turbo L6 swap into a 240z. I will start my wiring this week and have "the fear." Does someone have access to a tried-and-true diagram, or info/pic blog or sticky? Thanks.

  6. :willy_nil I'm doing an engine swap this weekend on a whim for a guy who is buying my L28 long block. I need a little advice before I commit. I don't want to steer this guy in the wrong direction.

    1. Can the L28 (N42/N42), which will run off SU's, use his L24's fuel pump and dizzy?

    2. And, I know I will probably get knocked for this one but I have to check, will his L24 flywheel, which is matted to a turbo tranny, bolt right up to the L28? :confused2

    3. Will his exhaust manifold that is bolted to his early E88 bolt up to the N42 head?

Praise in advance. Ya'll kick AZZ.

  7. I pick up my complete stock 1983 turbo setup with custom downpipe this weekend. I mentioned sometime ago that I switched from the NA route to go turbo, but there is one thing that I want to hold onto---the lope, or rougher idle. I know the stock cam is good to 400hp, but I want that lope sound at idle. Any thoughts on a cam that will do this for me without me having to go to bigger springs, or is this a opening a can of worms? The head is a P-90.

  8. Will my 4-speed 240z clutch hold up to the power of my enigine swap?

The swap is a L28 with garret t3/t4 and megasquirt.

There is a 2+2 at the salvage yard near my house, would this work, or possibly an aftermarket setup for my four speed.

Is anyone even using the four speed with thier turbo motor?

  9. This is a internally oiled N42 head. I was saying that my other N42 head has the oil bar, I've not seen a internally oiled N42 head like the one I just picked up from Z-dealer in Oakland. I suppose the cam could have been changed along with the application to make it internally oiled, or maybe there are already internally oiled N42 head, I don't know.

BTW, the guy said the motor I bought from him was JDM out of a Z that was rebuilt by Nissan in the 90's in Japan. Is there any way I can tell if this is the case?

  10. What a day. I just got done driving 7 hours to pick up this N42/N42 and we gauged the crank case pressure to a solid 170-175 across the board.

DAW you mentioned you've seen internally oiled cams on a N47 head, is this not common? The reason I ask is because this N42 head has the internally oiled cam too. I mentioned this to the guy because the other N42 head I have has the "oil bar," not the "oil cam lobes." He said it was a rebuild sent from Japan. Ring a bell anyone? Anyway it was a nightmare trying to get that whole motor into the back on my girlfriend's Saturn. I told the guy to drop the oil before I got there, he said no problem, and that's why 2 quarts drained into the back of the car.

Yeah, I should have doubled checked the dip stick:twak:

So I'm going to replace the head gasket with a 2mm to drop the compression for the turbo parts I have aquired so graciouly from some of you on HybridZ. I need to reinstall my digi-cam software and start posting, anyway I'm racking out, g-nite.

  11. Alright, alright, check me if I'm out line here. Can I forget the Turbo ECU, Turbo AFM, Turbo dizzy and Turbo wiring harness, in exchange for Megasquirt and my N/A dizzy siliconed up to stop advance? I've been reading and if this is the case I'm sold.

  12. I know the N42 head has a small quench area, this was my major concern here; I am still stuck in n/a land.

Can you tell what head gasket you guys are using. Apparently, according to the L-calculator, a 2mm head gasket will drop compression down to 7.80:1 with the N42/N42 combo, but I fear, from what little I know about quench, this may be detrimental to performace once the turbo kicks up the compression. But if you guys are confident about the N42 it would be nice for me to save that extra money for parts. Thanks again.

  13. So I've switched gears here. Instead of the n/a build I was working on I bit the bullet and commited to buying Proxlamus' turbo-intake manifold that was on ebay, since then I have aquired the turbo ecu, afm, exhaust manifold, J-pipe and oil pan.

I have a L28 block that I had balanced up with dished pistons, my question here, in an effort to save some ca$h, is can I use the N42 head that I have?

I hope I'm not beating a dead horse here, as I started a lasting debate about heads when I was on my n/a trip. I know P90/ P90a (solid lifter) heads are perfect as they have the square exhaust ports and are "the" turbo heads. I've seen a couple threads with some of you using the N42 head for the turbo, so if ya'll don't mind indulging me with advice in an effort to help me save $300 on a head I would be grateful. Thank you!

BTW anyone have leads to a turbo wiring harness, T3 turbo, or down-pipe?

  14. The complete MSA stroker kit sold for $760 on Ebay the other day. My money was burning a hole in my pocket. But it seems still that that build is beyond my means, so it is probably best I let that deal alone.

  15. Well I spoke with Stephen today and his shop is running a little behind schedule. I will research the P-head more tonight and get back to you Jon; this does sound like an option I will condiser. Dan if I go with the N42, I drink Patron--and lots of it...
