  1. i dont get a catalog from them but my car is not for bling.i dont have cupholders or a stereo.i am to busy driving.

Nor is mine, I have no heater, ac, or any of the controls, stereo, speakers, pass. seat, and no cupholders. I am busy racing the guy next to me and kicking is @ss!!!!!

  2. I have been trying to get a catalog to order parts from them for months now!! called them several times, emailed them twice. I had $2500 burning a hole in my pocket and I finally got tired of waiting and spent it at victoria british. Note: I'm still waiting on that damn catalog!!!

  3. WoW!! i have learned alot about 400's from this thread. But the time has come, in 2 weeks a junkyard where i live is closing down and auctioning off everything including several 400's, they said they would prob. only bring about $50 each thank GOD!! Ok here is my plan i have a 1972 240z I plan on putting a 6 speed tranny from a camaro/firebird in it with a i think 400ci. I want to make a pretty reliable car with around 400hp. I will occasionally use this on the ralley course, but more likely at the stop light or on the 100's of miles of flat straight roads I live near. I need to have a pretty damn fast car to eat the f-bodies, the vettes, mustangs and the occasional exotic. what should i set up, should i even buy a 400? Please let me know the auction will be here before i know it!

  4. I too just took off my front fenders and my foam rubber seals where all bad also. I ask a friend of mine who builds custom street rods and he said lots of times he uses double sided tape. He said it works great and sometimes it is better than the foam b/c it can't be seen as well on some of those expencive show cars. My 2 cents.

  5. You can add a quart of Dexron ATF to your oil when you change it and leave it in like normal' date=' but I would avoid any commercial engine flushes because they may be a bit harsh. The Dexron is slightliy less lubricative than oil, but has extra detergents. You can also add a quart of Seafoam from Napa or Carquest to about a 1/4 tank of gas, and/or you can do the Seafoam treatment described on the can where you stall the engine out by sucking Seafoam through an intake vacuum line and then let it sit for 10 minutes.

Depending on what engine you have, you may have mechanical lifters that need to be adjusted, and that could be causing the ticking.

I live across the Bay from you if you ever need any service done cheap.[/quote']

OH AND LIKE HE SAID SEA FOAM WORKS WONDERS I SWEAR BY IT!!!!!

  6. TRUST ME DON'T USE ENGINE FLUSHES!!! I too thought this sounded like a good thing, I even purchased some and right before I was going to do it that day I stopped at this shop to ask a guy about carbs. and there were like 10 gear heads in there and I said I thought I was going to do this to my 67 firebird and they said absolutly don't do it!!!!! They all had horror stories or knew of them. They said the same way to strong, for most and you do more damage then good by far. I thought I should beleive them so I didn't and it wasn't 2 weeks after that and I over heard a guy in one of my classes say how he used engine restore and now his car runs like sh*t and has crap for compression!!! So do what you want but i wouldn't!

  7. The Zed guy is nice, I haven't gotten anything from him yet, still waiting for income taxes to get back, but I have talked to this guy and he is sponsoring me.. Like i said be a few weeks before i buy but, he is helping me with the cost. His is a real nice guy! you should check him out!

  8. Hate to burst your bubble' date=' but you have the same smog restrictions that I do. Smog equipment is a federal requirement, not state.

My 1970 is exempt from testing in Maryland. BUT I want to do a "legal" swap, at least initially. Think of it as just another technical hurdle to overcome.

I grew up in Nebraska. When I graduated I moved to LA. Kinda sucked when I had to sell my car because it would have cost more than the car was worth to get it registered in California. On the up side when I sold my old car I bought my Z!!![/quote']

Oh i know of the laws, its just where i live no one will enforce them or even think to enforce them!! LOL you have to love stupid cops.

  9. I don't know. The Random Technology site says their 8100 bullet series are 8 inches long and 4 inches in diameter. Hard to imagine putting in a 4 inch tube anywhere near the engine without moving some sheet metal first. I will look into it.

I plan on visiting a smog station soon so I can ask about how legal such a set up would be.

Ha, that must suck having smog regulations, I today just cut my exhaust off and boy does it sound mean!!! I guess there is one good thing about NE, the cops don't ever check the exhaust

  10. I think the 400 is the way to go also, but i don't know that much. I just think a 400, balanced and blue printed, maybe some aluminuim heads/ roller rockers etc., perf cam that really really lopes! a tall *** manifold, and a race demon carb. and then i could keep in binned up in the garage and feed it hondas, and other rice grinders, maybe an occational buick.

  11. I'm not going to use the bottle, it seems that all that ever happens from it is trouble and broken engine parts!! Turbos maybe, my cusin installs turbos/mechanic so i will see what he says. My friends from wyo tech that i just got off the phone wiht said that i should go with a 350 with a smaller crank, then i could get a ton of rpms and horsies. Who knows i'm still with you guys i think, the bigger the better. I was hoping for about around 400hp and i know i'm not going to get an LT1 or LS1. For the money spent on them I too know i could get a much more powerful "oldschool" engine.

  12. I can get a 400 if that is what i want and i want what you guys say will be good. my cousin is a mechanic and has some laying around. And you think the five speed hu? sounds good to me! my cus also has the TPI systen out of his IROC and he said i could have it if i want, but i kinda wanted triple carbs or at least duals, what do you think?

  13. LOL I made the mistake of asking this question in a post under the ford v8.lol ooops so i will ask the chevy guys. I have searched and looked through the forums, but still dont' know what engine is for me. I want lots of power out of the hole to eat the rice ginders where i live, but still have great top end to play with the vettes. I know people with chevy sb, 305, 327, 350, and 400 for sale. Which would be the best do you think? and as far as transmitions i'm open for suggestions also, i was wanting at least a 5 speed i think?! OH and one more thing i have been reading what some of you have said and i take it i should find a nissan 230 rearend, but what else? do i need new axles? Thanks a ton guys!

  14. I am new to Hybrid Z myself as of yesterday, I have been a member at classic Z for some time but get the "one two" everytime i mention being a younger person looking for speed and HP!! You guys are my type! I was just wondering the same question, what engine would be the best for me? I have a 72 240z, i want to put in a chevy V8, I am looking for power off the line, so when i pull up to the little rice grinders i can eat them, and also I love top end speed the more the better! I know people with a 305, 327, 350, and a 400 i could buy, what do you guys think i should go with. And what transmition? I was thinking at least a 5 speed, but you tell me what combos work best. Thanks guys!
