The balance of the car will have you in for a CHALLENGE sir! Happy to see how it turns out.

Auburn high? Man you go to the opposite school of me I'm from Riverside.
Haha I know right, gotta take a look at your car sometime.
Yeah man for sure!!! What's your name? And are you currently driving your S30?
-
Nice job, I'm 15 and live in Auburn too right by the supermall actually. I think I saw your car somewhere before, it's nice to see another older Z down in auburn. What school do you go to?
Is that right? RIGHT ON!
I go to AHS. FINALLY someone close with a Z.

Nice, I'm 17 and just finished my Junior year in high school. I'm just starting my L28et swap into my '75 280z. Any plans with the motor/suspension?
Very cool!! Nothing beats a Z for a first car, eh? As far as an engine goes, I have been debating many possibilities. L28et would be soo easy and cheap for the power that i want, but nothing beats the sound of a good old nostalgic N/A L-series. Instead of turning my car into a huge money pit, I will invest in the car later on. For suspension, I have been researching the use of s13 coilovers and other possibilities other than Ground control. It'd be nice to have all of the camber capabilities.

S4 in the garage??
Very nice job so far!
Edit....
What city are you near?
Thanks neotech!
I am out of Auburn, Washington. The car in the garage is actually a 1995.5 S6 wagon that we just got done installing a much bigger gt30 turbo.

Wow. It has been TOO long since I updated this thing. OVER HALF A YEAR!!! In that time, I was able to get the car running and driving for the very first day of my sophomore year. Couldn't be happier. Minus the fact that neither of the gauges worked, a hole was still in the driver's side floor, AND that the straight pipe was enough to make any deaf person want to run...
In these many months of nothingness, I have acquired many goodies for my sweet little S30.
SO FAR, I have:
*MSA type 1 air dam
*BRE spoiler
*A good coat of black primer (since nobody enjoys a tri-tone mix of blue, red, and black)
*Vintage Corbeau racing seats out of my dad's mini race car
*All that stereo stuff that us meddelin' kids seem to enjoy
*MSA flares
*Wheel spacers
*And most recently, WHEELS AND TIRES!! Purchased Wheels in March. Tires just yesterday. Still waiting to mount.

I too have ordered a set. But I seemed to go all out. Gunmetal with 17x9.75 in back, 17x8.25 in front. Should be here by the end of this month.

Thank you all for the suggestions. I shall give the carb cleaner a shot tomorrow. I will let you know how it turns out.
Thanks!!
-
Yes i have. We did a carb clean on each one. Both seem to get stuck but the rear is worse than the front.
-
Whenever I try to use my choke, the jets get stuck down every time and I have to go push them back up. i have tweaked with the arms and they seem to be clearing everything.. I have ran out of options to what I think is wrong. Suggestions?
-
YES! Very pleased to see another 260z on here[: I just recently got mine back on the ground after fixing some SERIOUS unexpected rust...
-
Thats my goal, but its just money money money... If only there was a way for me to mate it to my L series tranny.. If not, it'll be sooner than later.
Thanks for the interest!
-
Has a swap like this ever been done? Either with the torsen welded using the Audi tranny or maybe the engine mended to a datsun tranny?
I would love to learn more considering it's my favorite engine

Hey guys,
So I just purchased another parts car which is a 78 280z. when we pulled the R200 out, it seemed to me that it took 1 turn of the drive shaft to spin the wheels 3 times. Did they make a diff with a 3:0 ratio?? We cant read the stamp. Sorry if its a dumb question. still learning about the cars.

Here's a question to add:
Why is it that the 280 weighs SO much more? Is it more than just the bumpers? Beefier frame??
-
my friend you are doing a good job removing that horrible kit!! you will definitely learn a lot repairing the car, and probably some good father/son time haha. congrats on the purchase! an awesome first car, just be sure you get a tetanus shot! lol
thanks a lot sileightygx! This is gonna be a great learning experience! just like my older brother when they did his vw bus.
Check it out>>

Haha, believe me, I know. My firewall on the passenger side was 3/4 bondo.
wow.. I dont think mine was that extreme.
Hey, just out of the subject, where did you get that cool icon of the purple z?
-
Nice ride. General thought do people look under cars anymore before they buy them?
yes, we did but we were looking for a project car and this fit the criteria perfect. My dad is a very skilled fabricator so its all good...
-
That passenger floor pan looks like mine! Your drivers side - is it salvageable? IMHO,that front bumper/spoiler combo looks pretty good. I am considering getting one because it might be more cost effective that fooling with the rusted out parking light valances and then fooling with a real bumper and mounts.
Floor pans and floor rails are almost a given in most of these cars.
Where I would be concerned is the engine frame rails. Take a look at my pics in my signature and see if yours are as bad as mine. The stiffeners rust out pretty bad. With my limited fabrication skills, I am going to make the rear units and the sheetmetal inner fender. But, not the triangular shaped stiffners that are above the cross member. They are beyond my skill level. So, I am going to contact folks that are cutting up California type parts cars for them.
Oh yeah, welcome to the red-headed, bastard, stepchild 260Z club!
yes, my driver's side is actually in very good shape strangely. there is maybe one small hole near one of the rubber plugs. Other than that, I am going to have to purchase a new frame rail for the passenger side. It's the only way.

Look's ever so to familiar. Those large chunks of bondo will become your worst nightmare. I know from experience!
you wouldn't believe the amount in the wheel wells!!!
Wheel Show! Post your pics of you wheels
