That diff is a short nose R200 VLSD with a 5 bolt star bolt pattern on the diff stub/input shafts. You will have to buy some parts to fit that, or any short nose into your 240.
There are two places I know of to gather up the needed parts. ModernMotorSports, and TechnoToy Tuning. This info, and tons more on this swap can be found in the drive line section. Check the stickies at the top of the front page in that section....
I've been researching the Stickies, but am just a bit overwhelmed.
Quick question: are there any case numbers or quick identifying features I can use to determine if this diff is a LSD vs. an Open Diff?
I'd like to ask the parts locater to look for these identifying features - that is if there was an open diff on a 91 300zx non-turbo automatics.
Thanks~

I have been doing a lot of head scratching trying to find an LSD for my 73 240z. I already have an R200 w/ CV axles - unfortunately, the spider gears are welded for drag racing (bought it like this). In my attempt to locate a 87-89 300ZX Turbo rear end, I came across a bunch of ads in craigslist for Z parts. I emailed the poster, and now have a lead on a diff out of a 91 300zx non-turbo automatic. I'm trying to understand if this is a good diff with an LSD, and if so, what will it take to get it in my Z?
Even after searching this site for years, I'm still very confused at the LSD options for my car...
still scratching my head,

1991 300zx non-turbo automatic - what Diff is this and is it worth using on a 73 240z?

So, I'll need the axle conversion inputs from MM, but which one?:

or

?
Then I'll need the mounting hardware kit, correct?

That should be it, right?
