  1. I'm trying to get all my parts together to build my IC setup but I'm a little confused. I look on ebay and there are pages and pages of these cheap intercooler setups like this one http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/TURBO-FMIC-LARGE-28-INTERCOOLER-GREDDY-BOV-FLANGE-PIPE_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ33742QQitemZ8073002291QQrdZ1 so I'm wondering how do I find a decent one. Would someone pick these apart for me. I've been looking around for a NPR in decent shape to no avail and it seems a little overboard to spend all the money HKS or spearco want for their intercoolers so where do I look? The ones off ebay are really cheap so I assume they are made in China and are poor quility? Like thew one I linked even comes with a BOV, crap also? I've read some of the post using the seach function but I still don't know where to look. Everyone say bigger is better then they say that quility is better then anything else? thx john
  2. What circut are most of you running your fans off of? It appears that the said fan does not come with a thermostat. Do you just tap into a circut that is hot only when the car is on so it runs all the time only when the key is on? or do most of you run a separate stat? I'm in need of a electric fan and the price is right on these but it seems they only have the 16inch fan that is a step down from the one originally posted. It has a 3in center rather then a 3.2. Other then that they seem fairly close. Do you think this will be sufficient for a moderately upgraded L28ET? thx Nathaust
  3. Thx Twisted, I pluged the hole and spent all day getting my exhaust finished. It turned out great!
  4. Anybody? I suposed to go to the exhaust shop tomorrow and I'm not sure if I can just plug the hole or what?

I have a 240/l28et and I'm getting my exhaust put together tomorrow and have a custom downpipe coming but I'm wondering what the pipe going from my intake manifold and tapping into the stock downpipe is. I also have a older intake on its way to elimiate a lot of the junk up top. but if I do the exhaust first what do I do with the pipe? My new DP has no provisions for anything but the o2 sensor. Is this something I can just vent into the engine bay or do I need to get a plug for it? I'm still trying to figure out what some of the stuff straped to the intake is for. john I did some searching on the subject
  6. Cool, thanks for all the replys. I'll give the stans place a call first to see what kind of prices they have. I was planning to just buy some generic U and 90 bends from summit but I'll check out those other sites. I have a down pipe so I don't think it would be to difficult to fab the rest of the plumbing. I've been looking at what others have done and it looks like the best I've seen go from the DP shifting over towards the driveline and stright down and then 45s over to the muffler. I've seen a lot of people use 90 in the rear to get from the center of the car over to the muffler. I've only seen one picture using 45's why is that? Is it a clearance issue? wouldnt 45's be better for flow? What should I look for in a muffler. I was looking at just some high flow straight through types but there is a lot of variations. Will just any 3in in/out straight through work. I'm assuming the longer ones are quieter then the shortys. I was looking at the Borla ones in the summit cat. but I'm not really sure what would be best. thx john
  7. Thx Jon that sounds like a good way to go about it. Did you do it with all 90 bends or did you use any 45 ect..
  8. Where do all of you get your 3 inch mandrel bent exhausts made for your L28ET? I went to a coulple muffler shops in the area and they said they didnt even know where I could go to get a mandrel bent system made up. I knew crushed type benders were more popular but I didnt think it would be to difficult to find someone to make it. Do any of you Washington residents know where I could go? thx john
  9. Where is a good place to get a 3" downpipe? It seems like most people have them custom made? Is this something a exhaust shop would do when I have the rest of the exhaust made?
  10. Isn't the exhaust side of the t3/t4 hybrid, which is the one I'm leaning towards, the same as the stock t3? Or do you mean that the MSA pipe would be restrictive at only 2.5inches?
  11. Hi I have a fairly stock 240 turbo hybrid and I want to start upgrading it. Right now it is useing the stock t3 which I'm going to keep for now, possibly upgrading to a hybrid but I understand the exhaust side is the same anyway. It has the stock down pipe and 2.5inch exhaust running through some cat to a generic looking muffler. I've read the sticky about building up the engine and read a lot of your posts and it seems like a 3inch catless exhaust with a high flow muffler is best. Now to my question. MSA sells a 2.5 inch downpipe and the sticky faq recomends such but a lot of you run a 3 inch pipe. Is there much advantage to this considering the turbo output is less then 2.5inch? thx, John
