  1. Jimmy - thanks! a year later I reply, I should have turned on notifications/ followed this thread. Anyway, thank you for the picture!! I knew it wasn't just me, but the linkage binding or adding weight due to the eye-bolt(s) or the rod. I will try this out this weekend... and yes, I've been driving around with a heavy pedal / strong return springs since this was posted _-_ agh -Cheers
  2. sorry to hijack this thread, but i have a problem. i've been running a couple of years on a pertronix setup (ignitor and coil) and i've recently purchased an MSD 6AL (6425) and installed it per the MSD manual (pertronix type install): no luck. I changed my coil to blaster ii coil, no luck. I called MSD and they said wire per 'page 10', which is the installing to a points/amp style ignition. This basically brings the original (+) wire to the ignition-to-MSD-RED(+) wiring. Still, no luck. Can someone verify if the RED LED on the 6AL box is supposed to light up at any point during cranking of the ignition? Oh, forgot to mention, the setup cranks, just doesn't fire up :\ Any advice or assistance would be greatly appreciated. Let me know if you need more info. Thanks all! '73
  3. linkage issue resolved! it had to do with the throttle shaft (needed adjustment on a rod on the manifold), throttle stop screws (not so much, but I reset these anyway) and the linkage return spring was modified and a second spring was installed. Thanks all for your help!
  4. jimmy, pics when you can, please! Thanks!
  5. UPDATE: Seems to be the carbs sticking. Removed the j-hook from the linkage to relive any stress from the pedal spring. I then moved the linkage/arms with my hand, very gently, and the carbs remained open, just slightly, but enough to guess it would be revving between 1000-2000 RPM (engine off, so just estimating). I then pulled the linkage rod out and each carb arm was free to move with my intervention. The carbs still stuck, without the linkage rod or pedal. It seems that each carb doesn't return to full Close so either the throttle stop screw needs adjustment OR the jam/throttle nut on the ends of the throttle levers is too tight (?) or... ? Any experience with tight throttle nuts or anything else that controls the quick return of the throttle lever(s)? Thank you all
  6. Greatly appreciated! This is what I 'feel' the issue could be, as the original linkage doesn't seem to have a 'sticky' issue. Hope to play around with the linkage further, hopefully this evening.
  7. Thank you for the advice! I'll check it out!
  8. Hello all. My triple weber 40mm 151 (via redline) are installed, however the carbs get jammed up somewhere between the pedal and the carbs :\ The carbs seem not to be springing back to place... but also the return spring does not seem be pulling the rod/linkage back into place. Whether slowly or a quick blip of the pedal, and the carbs (throttle arm?) seem to stick about 50% of the time (stuck @ 1500-3000RPM) - Is there any possibility that the carbs aren't returning to their fully closed positions because of tightness at the throttle arms? Is there supposed to be some play at the point where the weber throttle arms, nuts and horizontal arms all meet? I've buttered everything up from the OEM rod down back to the pedal, to no avail :T My link Based on this video clip i uploaded, can anyone give ideas on what I should be checking out? Notes: - the linkage was working Awesome with my SUs. Thank you in advance! _Cat
  9. Alex, Any pix of the turn signal relay? I'm having the exact same problem... Except on Sunday, mine finally died out o_o thanks!!
  10. Thank you G! I located exactly what i was looking for, thanks to you. -Cat
  11. Hello, When I first bought my 73 Z, I had only the lap belts installed. Upon looking around the spare tires section, I found that the previous owner had took off the shoulder harnesses and stored them back there. I installed the shoulder harnesses to see what they looked liken fitment etc., and I have no idea how to get them working with the lap belt(s). The shoulder belts have a small 'hook' or peg on them where they connect to the lap belt, but the lap belts don't really have anything visible for me to attach the harnesses to... What am I missing? Again, i'm pretty sure this will be an easy answer, but pix are more than welcome! lol Thank you in advance, -Catalino
  12. sorry to ask, but i was wondering if anyone could provide pix... for a newb? Thanks!
