  1. Thought I'd post a bit more information on my project and what I experienced with a change from a 78mm to a 90mm. I have a 6.0L LSX engine with a small Roots type blower (screw compressor). The throttle body change net between 1/4 & 1/2 pound of boost improvement. This is on an engine that supports 473rwhp. The amount of gain at this power level wasn't much," Undetectable by the asso- meter" but there had to have been some considering the boost change. The reason I believe for the full throttle power improvement , at the risk of repeating what Tony said, is the screw compressors prefer a minimal amount of vacuum on the intake side of the blower . Over all I agree with what was stated above for most engine setups ' bigger is not better ', but there are exceptions.
  2. 'sq creations' There's a few in Gallery . I haven't mastered the picture thing with my IMac. I'll get with my daughter soon and post some of my build.

  10. Thanks . If no other idea comes my way that is what I will likely do.
  11. I found the pin. Did you drill it out just far enough to clear the ignition housing ? If so what did you use to repin it? There isn't any way that I can see to grab the pin .
  12. Appreciate some help on how to remove the ignition cylinder. I've removed the Ign switch off the back and the ring on the front that displays key position but can't figure out how to remove cylinder.
  13. Really don't know much about the r200 rearends. If you plan to use the nitrious I believe the 3.55s with the gear spread of the T400 will work fine. If you run at the track ,motor only, with a 26' tall tire your 1/2 shift point(6500rpm / 58mph) will drop you back to 3900rpm. I think thats to much 1st gear & to much rpm drop. A smaller tire would not net enough change, less than 10%. The way I would do it is use the tire height that looks right on the car & based on power curve & traction use the appropriate gears. If your not familiar go to "gear calculator' on line.
  14. With a little nitious, it should fill in the torque curve enough to help the gearing of a 400 tranny. The 4l80 & 400 stock trany I believe have the same gears(2.48 1st/ 1.48 2nd). With a 26" tire that makes for a tall first gear & gear spread for a naturally aspirated 355. The ford rear I'm using is a sterling 9 3/4. I don't like breaking parts so the drivetrain on my car is overbuilt.
  15. Nice start on your project, For what its worth I think 450 na rwh is enough to catch the edge of a 10 second 1/4mi but thats depending on your 60ft time, final weight of car & possibly gearing. More power at that level without decent traction just becomes a smoke show. My project is a 260z lq4 eng w/maggie 112 supercharger/ 4L80e trans/ ford rearend 3.55/ race weight w/me in it 3210lb./ 255 drag radials (473rwh). Just started dialing in this season. 10.59et w/1.63 60ft best so far. Think I've got an other 10th or 2 based on traction improvements possible. I'm on Timeslips. Good luck
  16. 74 260z, 6.0L LQ4, magnacharger112 blower(7lb. boost).,LS6 cam,1 3/4 sanderson shortie headers, built 4L80E trans, sterling 9 3/4 rearend, magnum 4 link,full frame w/rollbar,firewall & eng set back 3 3/4", homemade cowl hood using 2 stock hoods. street /strip car well mannered. First time at sacramento drag 08/17/11, ran 10.98 @125mph(temp. 98 outside).

  17. For the 110FI they suggest 1/2" feed and return. You might talk to Mallory about the 6an lines ( possibly to restrictive). Just a guess.
  18. MONGO510, I found a site that shows an adapter to be used with a BMW sending unit. Not sure if it will work with a stock sender & or thread into a III gen chevy eng. Thanks for the pointer
  19. Hi , I'd appreciate a little help. I have an LQ4 in a 74 260z. I went down to Napa Auto to get the stock datsun water temp sending unit and all they sell you is a brass stud about 3/8 in dia. & 11/2" long with a single pin connecter at one end. It looks like it maybe presses in another part. Do I need to locate some other Datsun part & where is the best(sending unit) mounting location on an LQ4? (using stock gauges)
  20. what do I gain by attach both the green & the blue together (I only have one fan). The table options using HP tuners are. 2fans/ auxfans/ or no fans. ? fan stage1 on,off fan stage2 on,off (both have temp settings which is understandable) How do these tables correspond with the options of using "low speed fan" or "high speed fan" wires from the ECM. thanks
  21. I have HP tuners. Just not very good with it. With a little help I did manage to find the ele. fan tables in "systems. which leads to other questions . The options are (2 fans) / (aux fans)/or (no fans) and if I choose "two fans" as I"m thinking I should, even though I only have one fan, which of the two pin out wires from the ECM do I choose (high or low speed wire as identified). The table options in the tuner are (fan stage 1) or (fan stage 2) . Each have an on/off setting & temp settings. Thanks for help. Dan
  22. I have a 2003 Lq4/Z project with a reworked stock harness that retains the high & low speed fan control wires (ground sources?) from the ECM. My Summit electic fan came with a relay that has large wire hookups & two small 16 gauge wires that activate the fan. One needs 12 volts fused & the other goes to a thermistat, which is a ground source. I would like the ECM to activate the fan but also have the ability to override with a switch. Can I run a switch supplying ground in parallel to the thermistat wire which I assume hooks up to the high or low speed ECM wires or would that damage the computor? Also does it make a difference what wire I use for a single fan(high or low from ECM)? Last question-If the ECM is getting the engine temp information from the sensor in the drivers side head, can I change it for aftermarket part to achieve a 180 degree activation temp ? Appreciate knowledgeable help.
  23. If you get out to the track the early part of this season, I'd appreciate a post or two on your 60ft./ qtr. mi./any other mods to chassis. Also if you notice any trouble with the doors from hard launches. My project should be done sometime this summer. I have a rollcage and 2x3 boxed frame but did not weld in any kind of angle support through the doorway. Hope this proves to be a wise decision. Good luck, Dan
