  1. I had to deal with selling my 240z recently. Im 33 and married with a 9 month old girl. Before my baby was born I pondered the idea of getting rid of my Z. I have had her since I was 20 years old, went from working on her every other day to simply driving her to parking her in my parents garage for the last 4 years, yes 4 years. I have been so busy and entertained for the last 4 years with my Evo VIII that I disregarded my Z. Recently when I considered selling her I went as far as calling up an old buddy that always praised my Z- and offered the car to him. Thankfully he declined and I went on. Just 1 month ago I got back to working on her and im in love all over again. Simply said I beleive that the love for a Z is not a gimmick, its not temporary, its not even cool, its a classic love that always comes back to remind you of the passion that still lives. KEEP HER.
  2. While still using the factory ECU are you getting away with VTA? I know with my other car (EVO) running a VTA will cause dipping idle, even shutting off. Curious before I buy.
  3. Absolutely correct, I said 600hp when in fact its 500hp.
  4. I have a gt-2871r that will be going on my sr20det. I also have the z32 MAF with the 550cc injectors, all I need now is to get the ECU reprogrammed by RsEnthalpy at 21psi and im done. In the future I will be installing a Methanol injection kit that would enable me to run 25-27 psi on pump gas. I have a gt-35r in my Evo and it compares to nothing else. Sure there's lag up till 4500rpms, then its BAM!! all the way to 8300 rpms. The benefit of a big turbo is insane top end and that ball bearing cartridge makes for the recovery time between shifts amazingly quick. The z32 MAF is good for 600whp+ reliably and should be more than enough for most sr20s. The MAF is not a restriction as some presume. In fact it is about 3 inches in diameter with nothing to hold back hp. Im sure that at insane levels of hp (600whp+) it may become inaccurate in measuring the air intake but this is way beyond my target. The stock ECU is capable of also supporting such levels of whp, therefore I decided to stick to this recipe.
  5. My SR20det came with the small 02 sensor, which is missing. Since I have an aftermarket 02 housing with a standard size thread 02 fitting , can I use the bigger(standard) 02 sensor? If so then which Nissan 02 sensor is compatible with the plug for the s13? Thanks
  6. If you're looking for everyday driveability and no headaches then you shouldnt go with a standalone. If you have no problem with constant datalogging, and frequent adjustments then standalone is for you. Im sure that the stock is ECU is very well suited to your power goals and will get you the most mpg.
  7. Bigger injectors and a bigger MAF dont lower gas mileage. At cruise speeds your AF ratios stay around 14.5 no matter how big your injectors are due to closed loop processing. The proper tunning has to be done though. With bigger injectors the duty cycle is much lower than stock, of course on boost with open loop your mileage will be less.
  8. Were are you located, im looking to buy another SR20det with tranny.
  9. I just realized that the MAF I have is for a KA24 240sx rather than the correct S13 MAF. I could make it work but I refuse to cut my brand new harness.
  10. I just received my new S13 ECU wire harness. I saw the pugs for the igniter but failed to find the plug for the MAF. My question is if there is a separate extension that plugs into the main harness and then pugs into the MAF. I know that when I receive my engine/tranny it will have a cut harness so if there is indeed an extension then it will be there. Thanks in advance!
  11. As much as the L28et is an easy and affordable swap, not to mention easy torque, it is a very old school engine. I had one in my '71 240 and I loved it. By the way, I don't know were in hell does this guy think that an L28et has more aftermarket support than an SR20det. The L28et was produced for only 3 years and only in a 280zx, were as the SR was produced for over 10 years and used in various forms and sold in the 100's of thousands. Anyhow, im also getting an SR for my 240 since I wanted something that would be lighter, modern, able to rev, and has numerous aftermarket support from various aftermarket companies. I have also found a new love for four cylinder turbo engines since I also own an EVO. It makes 494whp on the stock bottom, head, intake manifold, etc. The only internals changed were the cams and headstuds. This 4g63 is very much like an SR20det in that it has a tremendous following all over the world. They are built very similarly and require minimal parts to make wonderfull power. So I figure that if the 4g63 moves the 3250lb Evo like an animal, then an SR20det making 350whp will make the Z an amazing beast.
  12. Im sorry but a 4.90 rear with a 400whp car is just a waste of power and way to much shifting going on. A 4.90 will make your car "feel" extremely fast since traction is not there until 3rd maybe. I could understand a 4.90 for a very quick exit out of corners on a NA autocross Z, but not on a turbo high WHP Z. No matter how much power you're putting down you always waste time when shifting. I have a 494whp Evo MR that I drive everyday and the stock gearing is too quick to actually put the power to good use. Sure your revs build up quick but a 400whp Z should do perfect with a 3.90 or maybe even a 4.11. So if you were to line up with a Z with the same mods you have exept for a 3.90 rear you would lose in the 1/4, specially up top.
  13. I have an R200 4.11 LSD in my 240z. I purchased this diff from Arizona Zcar about 8 years ago. He told me it was from a Skyline, which one I dont know. ANyhow, I need to replace the carrier and pinion bearings but I have no clue as to how to order a set. Do all R200s share the same bearings? Any advice would be appreciated.
