  1. Ok, so to make a long story short. I moved, got rid of my z project, have a little cash, want another one. What can I be looking for in the 10k range or cheaper? Where can I find one? I have been scouring the internet for weeks................frustrated! Really would like a stick...........
  2. I got a car painted at Macco once. It was about 5 years ago. I did all the prep work, they taped and painted. It was really nice for 350$. Jake
  3. The feature car on zcar.com has that exact swap. Thought you guys might like to check it out. http://www.zcar.com/month/ Jake
  4. Ok, so about 4-5 years ago I thought Honda's were the sh"t because they were light and handeled well. Well I had a 2001? Honda civic with the usual, rims, coilovers, header, 3" exhaust(quit laughing), cold air, etc. I was on my way home from work and was merging on to another freeway. When I see this minivan obviously swerving through traffic to catch up. There was a loop coming up so I went up to about 80-90 through it. I quickly left her behind on the on ramp loop. Next thing I know she is riding my ass again. So I get over in the slow lane to let her pass. As she pulled up next to me her son riding shotgun flipped me off and she started laughing. So again thinking I'll show this minivan who's boss I throw it in 3rd and take off. Well, not really because she floored it and practically left me by five car lengths by 100. After that race I realized my car sucked, and would always suck. I soon after bought a 1996 300zx na, and quickly started winning the race against the soccer mom.
  5. Does it look like he put a wider lip on the front. Maybe so he could run the same lip front and back? Those also look to be four lug? Ok so I called ccw and sent him the link. They are there 3 piece modular wheels. Thanks
  6. http://rides.webshots.com/photo/240157212/1240177203059395841IxINSG This is the best looking stock fendered z car I've seen. Well, except for the damage. I have to say this car and the blue one from Japan, featured at z parts.com are my favorites. Anyways to the real point. Does anyone know what wheels those are and or backspacing, etc. Any help would be appreciated. Poor car! Thanks, Jake
  7. ENGINE, CHEVROLET Small Block 400, can hear run. $500 I saw this in the paper. Should I get it? Will it mate to the camaro t5? What are the advantages and or disadvantages to the 400 over the 350? I know some of you have had a 400, but I couldn't find anything when I searched. I;ll keep looking. Jake
  8. Yes, thats sounds like a whole lot of fun for 3000. I can say from experience, buying a already running car and doing the small projects is a lot easier than building one from scratch. I love projects I can drive and work on. I say hurry up and buy it. Plus my guess is your nieghbor will always be there to help you tinker on it. Good find. Jake
  9. For anyone searching summit has the bushing kit for 150 and ebay has the tokicos wth springs for 490 vs 800 at msa for the same thing.
  10. I have about a thousand to spend on suspension upgrades. What combo of parts is in my price range? I need springs, struts, bushings, stainless lines, and a strut tower bar. I have been looking at msa. Any opinions on this combo? Eibach springs 190.00 tokico hp struts 300.00 master bushing kit 165.00 stainless lines 66.00
  11. Wife just called and said my welder is in. So I should be trying it out pretty soon.
  12. Ok, so if you get a cam too agressive for the springs it will max out. Thanks for the help
  13. Can you elaborate a little more on the lifters? Also can I put it in stock and then upgrade the cam and lifters later ( they go together right?)? I mean you dont have to pull the motor to due the cam. Jake
  14. Well what about these http://www.sdpc2000.com/catalog/123/products/110/1969-85-Most-Cars-and-Light-Duty-Pick-ups.htm http://www.greenwoodchevy.com/engine14.htm I figure with a good intake, carb, and cam I could make 300 horse. That would be fun in a z right? Oh, and I really am in the market for one maybe next week Jake
  15. http://www.flitelineenginesupply.com/engines.htm I just found out they are about 20 miles from my house. I have already purchased a t5 out of a camaro which 350 on their list would be the best buy? Thanks in advance. Jake
  16. Cant I just do a series of tacks and grinds? I have read some threads of people that have had success. Remember, there is always a better way to do something. The problem is most the time that requires more money than the slow, hard, and CHEAP way. jake
  17. So today me and a friend took off all of the front end. I'm getting it ready for the truck liner. Also it seems the car was in a mild accident at one time. There is a little bit of a crease in the frame in front of the shock towers. Not a big deal since its ahead of anything structural or important. My guess is its going to make lining up the fenders a B**ch. Pics of the progress can be viewed here. Oh and in the last picture what don't i need?? http://good-times.webshots.com/album/553613888gqrCMV I also ordered a welder to do a little rust repair. http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=114114 Oh, and Danny thanks for all those parts you sold me. I came by Sunday and gave your wife the money. She said you were out at a friends. I need to come by this week and take pictures of your engine bay. There are soooo many wires and cables it looks like a bomb went off in my engine bay. Also off the subject. I did some SCCA racing last weekend. Man that was a blast. Jake
  18. Thanks for the reply. I went ahead and got it. I just couldn't pass up the deal I got. I ordered the gas less mig, helmet, spare tip, wire, 3 pairs of tin snips, leather welding apron, and a grinder. All that for 151.95 after shipping. After I called our local welding supply and they quoted me 550. for there cheapest welder it made the decision all the more easier. Jake
  19. http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/ctaf/Displayitem.taf?itemnumber=55167 It is a non gas mig. Have any of you ever heard of this? Is the wire thickness alright? Jake
  20. Ok, so we did the core support and fronts of the inner fenders. We sanded with 80 grit, then cleaned, then painted. Well now im pissed because it looks sooo good and the rest of it looks like sh&t. So now I think I am going to redo the front suspension pieces with the same paint and some energy suspension bushings. Check out the progress at http://community.webshots.com/user/jacob300zx . Jake
  21. Yeah, I think it will look good. I picked up three cans today along with some degreaser. I cleaned the garage and degreased the engine bay. After that I was pooped so I thru the towel in for the nite. Me and my buddy are going to start on the scuffing and painting next and I will post up some pics.
