my car makes a loud tapping noise when i drive long distances an hour and up time wise. The noise settles down when the car idles for a bit like 1 min or so. The funny thing is that it also does it when its cold same sound. Also is it ok for a motor to be really hot, including radiator, and radiator hoses. The car has hydraulic lifters and some say that this is causing the problem others tell me its an issue with the oil getting to hot

I have a 1988 corolla gts and i was wondering if i should replace the cv axle with a remac one from kragen or autozone, a new one from the same places or get one prefessionally rebuilt. I live in los angles so if you have any recommendations please tell Thank you

Iit does matter that your 14 cause that means you havent been around as much as many of the guys on this forums which means that you can benefit from what they have to say. Dont take it the wrong way just remember be open to what EVERYONE has to say and you will learn alot more. thats the kind of answer i was looking for. Thank you very much. Well the reason i look at "exotic pieces as you call them is because i just have the notion that they will outlast the not so well known ones. for example i feel like if i buy a mahle piston it will live longer than a JE piston. Eventhough i would love to build a L28 im looking into building a KA24E. thanks braap ur response was awesome

I want to build an N/A motor with nothing but the best. I know mahle pistons are the best out there now inext inline are connecting rods

i wanted to know if any of you had the choice to have custom connecting rods made for a japanese motor who would you choose crower, pauter, or oliver any other choices are welcomed. Thanks guys

I was wondering if anyone knew of any good books that outline what needs to be done in order to do a proper engine swap. Things that address drive shaft phaisng things of that nature. I want to see what needs to be done to have a vibration free car after a swap.
