Think it’ll help?
My guess is it wont. If they are too lazy to type, they’re probably to #$%&’n lazy to read too…
Somebody left caps lock on while typing their screen name...

Found this information on L4/NAPS Z cylinder heads...
Maybe someone could use this info.

Does anybody have a list of throttle body bore sizes for Nissan engines?
I know:
L28ET throttle body= 50mm
KA24 throttle body= 60mm
VH45DE throttle body= 90mm
Anyone have the standard L28E throttle body size? (if different than the L28ET unit, confirmation maybe?)
Also the Maxima L24E?
*challenger and BRAAP both agree w/ 50mm stock L28E throttle body size, although BRAAP isn't taking well to the metric takeover(just playing!)*

The water/alch injection tank for the kit is long gone so I'll have to set something up there but I'll figure it out.
My Dad did a VERY cheap solution to this kind of problem when his windshield washer fluid resivour broke in his 944turbo...
Take the 1 gallon washer fluid bottle and cut a hole in the cap so the pickup tube has a slight interference fit with the cap. Wedge said cannister inbetween the inner fender and the radiator and it is a great temporary-permanent solution. He did eventually go to Porsche and buy a new tank...($$$ and 2 hours to install)
Just take your methanol container and do this or put your methanol in a washer fluid container. LOL

Driveshaft?!!?
We don't need no steeenking driveshaft!!!!
Wouldn't that make it a 918? THAT is a 914 I would scoot around in!!!
Actually its a 914-8.
Don't ask me why I'm looking at V8 mid engine cars... and don't look at my sig...
There are several guys with 500+hp SBC's hooked up to a 930 trans in the back of a 914.
Not much better than a huge motor with an intake ~16" from your ear.
http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=3ICOD1MFYLc
They are a little heavy stock, about the same as a 280Z.

What is better than fixing the Porsche 914's 95hp problem?
SBC baby...

What about a Kawasaki Ninja 250R? The 2008 model gets 55-75mpg, looks just like their bigger bikes, and can actually handle decently. I spend $65 a week just going to school and that could go down to $20/week and be riding a real deal...
Its like a big scooter engine in a little bike frame...
They are about $4,200 new after all of your costs and tax etc...
Saving about $40 a week in gas will just about pay for the bike in a year or two. That is like $2000+ a year savings...lol
Then maybe sell my 20mpg 04 Frontier and pick up a beater 50mpg $750 Geo metro for the rainy days.
Insurance, no deal. I've got a perfect driving record and a good student discount so no problem there...

You know that turbo tom L6's with the works made upwards of 450hp on a built motor (race prep the stock crank and rods, forged pistons, headwork...easy with the datsun motors)
Anyway you are in Flowery Branch? Let me know when you get the car and I can come check it out! I go to school right there so I'm close by. plus I have a megaload of spare crap if you need anything cheap.(I can make you a heck of a deal on a early 74' 260Z shell...lol take the whole thing please)
I say keep the turbo tom setup but maybe change the turbo to a newer, more efficient turbo. (Holset HX35 with a 12cm^2 or 14cm^2 exhaust housing would be my choice).
-
That head = dead meat.
Anyway Veritech-Z had an N42 that had the same treatment to the exhaust ports.
Look in the sticky thread here in the L6 forum titled: "L6 cylinder head pics and descriptions" or something like that...

Crap.. X64v had the jump on me.... LOL

I use a Miller Maxstar 140.
I'd like a Miller Syncrowave 200, but that's a lot of money.
Money now is tight, I just put an offer on a house.
Or..... Dynasty 200DX.
Brad does do some amazing TIG work!

Umm... I have never built a turbo L6 engine but possess the knowledge on how to build one from reading on here and on individuals' websites...searching.
Go to www.zhome.com and read all of the pages on building a turbo Z. That should help a bunch.

The bore spacing on the center two cylinders is WAY larger than between 1-2 2-3 4-5 5-6. So to maintain the correct bolt patterns, water passages, etc. This was the only way to go.
On the L6 or KA24 block? I thought that the bore spacing for the L6 block is 94mm except for the center which is 96mm.
Just clarifying...
Thanks!
-
I have a question....
Why did you use 3 head sections rather than the rear three cylinders and front three cylinders from two heads? Since an I6 motor is basically two 3 cylinders joined at the middle I'd think that might work a little better.
Plus in the middle of the engine you have an extra 2mm to work with for head gasket sealing between sections.
Just wondering....It seems simpler to use two sections but maybe there is some interference.
Thanks!

SuperDan,
That color looks great! I have seen quite a few driveway paint jobs that turned out great like that on here.

Boosted VG30/33E.
Find a low mile 2wd V6 Frontier that has been rolled and pull the drivetrain out. A VG33ER would be a wicked swap IMO. Never been done to an S30 AFAIK.
-
I'm bringing this thread up from the dead but I wanted to put the correct info in here.
Is this on the VG33 SuperCharged model or the non FI model or both?Just a 175hp N/A VG33 in a heavy 2004 crewcab shortbed. The bad thing is that my Frontier is way faster than my Z was and it gets better gas mileage.
The VG33E cams are actually a good bit smaller than stock Z31 cams.
USDM VG33 Cams (all) 240/244 .354"/.354""
USDM VG30(Z31) 242/242 Turbo and non .385"/.385"
.031" difference in lift between the two in lift but basically the same duration.
Also the VG33 won't really rev higher than 6000. It is computer limited with a soft limiter yes, but it makes so little power up there that it isn't worth it to go that high. Bigger N/A cams and a low restriction intake would turn it into a beast.
BRAAP always showing his ol' 440BBZ with crappy plastic tires......

My flippin 302 post worklog...
Haha.
Too bad the car is dismantled...
Oh well. Time for something better.
If you get a FREE Xanga website you can do your blogs and have a free gigabyte of photo uploads. I have one but I never update it any more 'cause I don't have a project car any more.

and a camber compensator..... compensator... compensator
What the heck is a camber compensator and how does it work? LOL
I know lots about bugs but nothing about a compensator...
I like the idea of the swing axles with the VW bus reducer boxes. Those are pretty cool like the unimog axles...
Not many guys run those because they like the independent rear suspension over the swing axles.
The positive camber can cause some real problems...lol I have seen pics of a baja that has one side of the SUV style tire to the belts and the other side with 100% tread. LOL
Kreger Fabrication built a retartedly sweet Baja prerunner with A/C and lots of cool stuff...(major understatement)
http://www.desertrides.com/features/vehicles/trophy_bug/index.php
IIRC that bug sold for around $110,000. They used something like 13 pounds of TIG wire on that puppy. LOL
-
I almost bought a bug and baja'd it...
Then I bought the Z.
This guy has a VG30ET powered Baja...LOL
http://www.youtube.com/user/1BADBAJA
www.blindchickenracing.com has some great suspension parts!

Thats the joke. It was full throttle, balls out...

I'll put some stuff in there soon... I have a couple theoretical builds that I'll put in there too.
Stuff like my L26 when I got it... L24 flat-top pistons are a direct swap-out and raise compression by about a point.
Also swapped from a C cam to a L24E cam and could barely notice a difference. Maybe 5% more mid-range power but 10%-15% loss in top end...
Maybe we can copy some info out of the stickys here?
