  1. Well, just got back. Three hours of sitting on your butt is very hard to do. I feel like I did pretty good though. I ran out of time and there were two questions that I couldn't find an answer to, so being mulitple choice, I have a 25% chance of getting those right.

I had a dream the other night with a vision of the test score and it was 72%. Not the best, but still a passing grade. We will see if I'm right in 14 days or less.

UDC is Uniform Dwelling Code. UBC is Uniform Building Code. To be honest with you, I don't know the difference. I never looked at the UBC books.

Yeah, my knees are shot, my wrists crack and my neck and back hurt. Sometimes I sleep on the hard floor, because it actually feels good. I can't wait to get a different job. People don't understand what I do all day. Sometimes it will be slow and give me some time to putz around on the computer or any of my other hobbies and sometimes you are working yourself so hard you turn into a machine. You just keep going and going and yelling at yourself to not quit or look like a baby. Those days I won't miss. It will suck going from working for yourself to having a boss, but I can eventually become independent and be my own boss again. That will be years down the road, so that's something to look forward to. I got my fingers crossed, my toes crosses, my legs crossed, my arms crossed, my nuts crossed and my eyse crsosed. I hope it's a passing grade.

  2. I'm taking my UDC Inspectors exam at 12 noon central time. I'm nervous as all heck. I need to pass this. It will make for a better life for me. I've been in construction since I was a little kid (been about 21-22 years, family business) and it's just flat out boring now. I've done it all and it just becomes so repetitious. Besides, my body is already showing me signs that I should choose a different occupation.

My Grandpa was a Building Inspector for the city of Brookfield, WI and my aunt Cindy is a Building Inspector in Mukwonago, WI. After talking with them, I know I will love this job. I just need to pass this freakin' test!

    Wish me luck!

  3. Ernie, if you drop me a PM with your e-mail address, I'll send you a video of a BMW V-12 engine running with a nickle standing on end, then stopping, then starting and running again with the nickle still standing on end. They had to block off the fan to keep from blowing the coin over, but it's pretty cool nonetheless.

  4. John's been busted! Ha ha! Okay, that aside, 140 lb. Rott? Named Bear? Holy crap! That is a large dog with an intimidating name. I like big dogs (had a couple German Shepherds), but 100 lbs is my cap (females). Anything bigger and it's like having another kid living with you (food, maintenance).

  5. Gawd, this thread sounds like something off Zcar.com. I've seen one of the Vettes, and I thought it looked real good. Not only that , but Ford had a concept car that closely resembled the Bird with the '49 front end.

It was (I think) the Ford Five Nine concept. I saw it in person up in Oshkosh, WI and it looked really cool. I tried to find a picture to post, but to no avail.

  6. I just did this to a buddies car on Tuesday. Full suspension change to Tokico and polyurethane bushings. There is some slack in the springs, don't worry about it. This will only be a problem if you decide to get your Z airborn. Just make sure you have the springs seated in the spring hat when you sit the car back on the ground.

The full Energy Suspension kit isn't that bad. I've done a half dozen of them now. A press makes installing the Energy Suspension kit an easy affair. Although, using the MAPPS torch to burn out the bushings is quite fun. :D

You do know the pin that holds the spindle pin in is tapered, right?

If you have any questions, give me a jingle on my cell, 414-975-7168. I was up in your area last weekend. I could have stopped by to give ya a hand for a bit.

  7. I was able to see some of the vehicles that ran when they were in Wisconsin. I still can't believe I saw six BMW M6's in one spot.

Check out the videos. The burnout video is pretty cool, everybody likes a good burnouot video! The Suburu that was in that video was staying at my hotel and it seriously has some balls  . The Jeep takes the cake though. I haven't checked out all of the videos, so if someone finds the red 280Z please let us know which video it's in!

  8. Well, it's a bit of a long story, but I didn't give a speech at all. Somebody decided that I wasn't going to be a best man, but forgot to tell me. Don't want to to get into it, still kind of hurts.

On the bright side of things, One Lap of America was going on and there was some serious machines up in Kohler, WI. Saw a dark green colored Ultima GTR pulling a trailer that was skinny and about twice as high as the car, which was kind of goofy lookin'. Many 'Vettes and Porsche's. What was really cool seeing was not one, not two but SIX brand new BMW M6's! Most of the license plates were from New Jersey. Parked next to those was a Porsche GT3 and a 911 turbo. Some of the Suburu STi's were pretty cool to see all decked out. So many cool machines running around.

I actually wanted to see the V-8 powered 280Z that was entered in the One Lap of America (see here ), but on my way to Road America, he passed me going the opposite direction. But as he passed me, I leaned way out the window with my thumbs up. I'm pretty sure he saw me.

I thought this was funny. I had my directions laying on top of my 'going out of town bag' and while I was in the crapper, my sister took it upon herself to give me her own directions.

  9. Just as a side note to this (I've done headlight covers a few times), I found it much easier to simply remove the headlight buckets, attach the brackets to the covers, and lay the cover onto the bucket. Then mark the holes from the inside. Makes for a tighter fitting cover.

  10. Frank,

you don't like the patches? You can send them back for a full refund if you like.

    Mike,

I have 2 big Hybrid Z patches left. If there is enough interest, I will buy a bunch of them to sell to you guys. I'll PM you regarding the ones I have.

    Justin,

That shirt looks awsome! Good idea :2thumbs:
