  1. I live up a little above the RoostMonkey right on a river that has flooded twice in the last 2 years. Woke up to a knock at the door this morning " Hi , I 'm Ray Brewer from Channel 9, they took all kinds of video." The rain has been unreal, literaly every day and the past 3, thunderstorms to boot. Have to run the dehumidifier in the house, it was getting nasty. After a long hard winter and then this, it really is getting ridiculous. Blew a head gasket in my truck so I have been driving the Z's in the rain. Not happy. :icon55:

  2. Yes I have a boost gauge. It would actually start pinging bad and I would let off at about 7 psi, but it never seemed to overboost. When I hooked the wastegate back up and made the rod too short it would almost do nothing but show 5 psi boost then jump to 10psi and start pulling. Backed it off, now it seems about right. If I have the flash I might get it dynoed this weekend, but there is an autocross on the same day. I'll keep messing with it.

  3. Thats exactly what I did. I had holyrollerdyno.com tune it with a wideband and when we did it it must have been disconnected(the wasetgate) but it looked connected. The only problem is it idles at 1100rpm when warm and 2000rpm when cold. Because it is in many pieces it was impossible to adjust the afm for every condition, that is why I got megasquirt and edis but I haven't even begun to mount or install them yet. Still trying to get through the season with this set-up.

  4. I ordered 4 Gabriel Ultra strut inserts from autozone, they shipped me the gabriel ryder with valve sensing tech. The part#'s are the same. Looks like they phased out the ryder in '03 when the ultra came out. I paid $140 shipped. They look just as good as KYB gr-2's. Gas, twin tube, variable valving. Should I keep them or return them for the ultra version if it's available(that I paid for).? I called Gabriel and they said the ultra is better but this is still a great shock??? They are going in my bone stock 78 280z 5spd. PIA

  5. I've read through the brake upgrade faq. If I use the toyota s12+8(It looks like the vented version) 86-95 on a 72 240z, what are my rotor choices. I don't want to use a spacer. Is it 84 300zx non-turbo or will other size rotors work? Can I use a vented crossdrilled/slotted for a 280zx up front?

    Thanks Chris

  6. I just realized my wastegate was disconnected(they threaded it and put a nut to increase length). I never knew what is was like to drive "under boost" it would always hit 7 psi then start pinging bad. So it was always balls out or no turbo. When I hooked the wastegate back up I can drive under boost now and it is awesome, but if I nail it under boost if coughs and pings at around 4000 rpm, but if I give it 2/3 to 3/4 gas it will rev higher and keep going to 6500rpms.Car runs great. Do you think I need a better fuel delivery to the injectors? I don't have a fuel pressure gauge. I have the stock rail and an aftermarket fuel pump(doesn't look hi perf.). Other than that the car runs great. It's a 72 with an 81 turbo and 77 electronics (ecu, turbo afm, dash, interior), n/a distrib., 60mm t/b. 2.5 exhaust, t-5, r200 open diff. 3.9. I just got some fuel rail stock that is huge. I plan on making the rail myself and keep the barbed injectors. I also am not sure of the injector size(they could be turbo stock). I just got a megasquirt 2.2 and edis and intercooler, plan on putting that all on the winter. Now I'm wondering if all I need is better fuel delivery.

    Thanks Chris

  7. It would be best to remove the coating and re-powdercoat them. The paint will chip off powdercoating very quickly. Powdercoating will adhere and flex with the spring and not chip. If you're looking for a guy to do powdercoating, I might know someone *wink* *wink* www.srpowdercoating.com that's me. If you have any general question's hit me up. I also do hi-temp ceramic.

  8. Check your advance also. When I got mine, when they hacked it they couldn't get the distributor to move anymore and left it at 0. It was a dog until the turbo kicked in. Had to weld on half a washer on the other side of the distributor and bumped the timing to 13degrees. and it was much more responsive.
