  1. Hello Z lovers, I am having a problem with my conversion. Here is what the car has. I have a 71 240Z with a 83 280zx turbo swap. I am trying to upgrade to the 300zx turbo ecu and afm. Here is whats killing me, i did the swap already successfully!!! but i decided to do a somewhat wire tuck, so I went back to stock 280zx electronics. While I opened up the harness and cut and tuck all the excess wires but now the car is no longer getting spark. I can not for the life of me recall how i wired up the car the first time.... Here is where i am lost. On the 280zx swap there is a plug the has y and y/w wires that go to the ignitor on the coil.(which is working on the car now) but on the 300zx setup people say to add pin 34 for +coil and 3 for -coil. so what happens to y and y/w wires now? Do i bypass ignitor on 300zx setup? i did not bypass the frist time i did swap? Not sure if anyone can help on this question but i have 3 wires from my ignition switch 2 for switch ON position and 1 for cranking/start? i actually forgot where these connected too ha! ;( someone help even if its pointing me in the right direction. anything might trigger the light bulb in my head.
  2. Coming from an administrator of this site you have got to be the most useless admin ever. I would think you would want people to post forums not keep questions to themselves??? FYI that "one day" will be sooner then later. I am just trying to figure out whats a reasonable asking price for my POS. ...Like my father always said if you aint got nothing nice to say, then dont say nothing at all... Thanks for being so helpful.
  3. Yes it does have glass now and no it does not have rust. I actually do have the t-5 tranny and driveshaft laying around. The car does the the r200 LSD diff. The interior is their but the plastics are a little cracked and dash too has cracks. When i get some time to will post more pix. Thanks for the fast replys!!!
  4. Hello hybridz i am trying to gage the value of my 71 240z. so if i where to sell it one day i could bet the best bang for my buck. Engine has a basic 280zx turbo swap with intercooler setup. Tranny is a 4 speed Suspension is stock but new bushings all around Body is sraight with new gaskets all around Title is clean Any suggestion on VALUE?
  5. Hello All, Does anyone know of any Z shops in or around Los Angeles, CA that can install Standalones on 240z with Turbo setup? Maybe any shops that know how to install megasquirt? THANKS!
  6. Wow the site sounds cool but! Hard to understand what needs to get done for this to work. Has anyone ever used Nistune on this website. I would some insight on what needs to be done in order for this to work. I think i understand you install some chip into the existing ECU. Does this mean i will continue to run at factory setting? Does this mean it will display the factory setting on a laptop via USB? Do i need anything extra other then the chip thats need to be installed? I guess i am just not sure exactly what this does?
  7. Hello Guys, What is the best electronic setup using stock parts. Currently i am using 300zx ECU on 280zxt wiring and MSD. Could i go as far as adding the MSD that retards timing on boost then add adjustable rising rate fuel pressure regulator? Would any of this counter affect each other?
  8. I read somewhere that the pressure should be in the range of 35... Is this at normal idle? It also said when testing it should drop to 25psi??? Can any one clear this up for me?
  9. How much fuel pressure does a stock 280zxt have? Thanks for help!
  10. So it sounds like i do not NEED it. Now that i remember I once had a Z with a fuel cell and i do recall there being a nipple at the very top of the tank. I could use it as a vent hose! Which would be the best located to use as a vent hose? I have a 71 240z tank. I am asking because i will be adding a sump to it since i am running EFI system.
  11. Hello Z Fans, I am interested in finding out the full function and fuel vapor box located in the hatch on the rear passenger side. Aside from the vapor box can I plug all the hole on the Fuel tank? Do I need it? What does it do? Why is it important to keep it? Can my car function without it? What kind of problems will I run into if I remove it? Sorry if some of the questions are redundant.
  12. Hello All, I was wondering if i could get some advice on which MS System to buy. My goals are to reach the 350hp range with high reliability. My question is which system should i buy and extra part besides the MS ECU and harness do i need? (ex injectors/ what size is needed and where are cheap ones) All link and advice is very much appreciated. I am currently running Stock 280zxt setup and custom t3/t4 turbo.
  13. Hello Guys, I am probably going to ask the broadest most repeated question on these forums.... I have a 240z with an L28ET engine, which i did the swap myself. I am tired and fix one problem after another. So i have decided to try something new. ? What is the most cost efficient, least work involved and most reliable stand alone engine management system available. (Please explain) From my understanding SDS and Megasquirt or big in these forums. Please feel free to scream, yell, jump up and down. Also you can link past forums, websites or any other ifnormation that can help. I am here to learn cause i am tired of wasting money and trash!!!!! Gratefully The Zmachine!
  14. This is great information Thank You keep it coming!
  15. Hello All, I wanted some input on this much talked about subject. What i am looking for is real world experience NOT old man by the river stories. REAL personal experiences! What are your experiences with this flywheel on a Turbo and N/A Zcar? Please let us know the gearing and motor size. If use for race or street. How streetable is a aluminum flywheel? include real reasons for answer. again experiences only! Is there torque lose? On bottom or Top End? I did search and founs a couple of guys that gave go reasons for N/A, and most people were only talking about how they think it is not good or hear it.
  16. yes it is a 83 but how can you tell is there a marking or different number on the box to be sure you never know with old parts. Am i suppose to check timing with TPS ON or OFF, this would help a lot. And is setting the timing better advance or retarded for turbos at idle. I hear people using 20* and 27*. This information will be useful for all the Z buddies.
  17. Hello all, At idle - where should i set the timing to using flat top pistons and turbo. I know on a stock block you use 24* but snice i have flat tops do i want more advance 20* or more retard 27*. Do set the timing with the TPS on or off because when i set the timing with the gun and the TPS off car ran like crap 0 power and ran pig rich. When i timed with TPS on WOW car ran like a champ and temp stayed cooler. Oh yeah i was setting it at 24* and the motor has been recently rebuilt if this info helps.
  18. I now plan on replacing unit once i get paid! Could the tempature guage be bad to if has always reads hot even if it never really over heats or boils! My cousins z never get hot it doesnt even hit the middle most of the time, but my dam car always get to 3/4 most of the time. And my motor has been recently rebuilt!!!
  19. I have tried 2 different radiators. first was another 240z radiator rebuilt which i am currently using and a 3 row aluminum radiator which did not help the temperature. I am using 2 10" fans on the rebuilt unit this works the best for me at the moment as strange as it sounds. For the other guy it is the stock units. I know they are not accurate but being that off i dont know. I have no overflow reservoir, its a 71 240z. I put a whole container of coolant and clean water. As for ----Have you considered checking the pressure at the sending unit with a analog thread in unit?----- I dont know what that is and i dont have money to buy stuff for test only. Do any of you guys have any other suggestions, Pleas help THANKS!!!
  20. I need help guys. Why do i not get any oil pressure on my turbo block. i have no leaks and the motor was recently rebuilt this year. On the oil pressure gauge it mark 1/4 when cool like over night, and then when i drive it completely drop of the scale as the car warms up. It does rise back to about 1/4 when i start flooring the car. Then after I drive for more time the car temp start to rise slowly to 3/4 and stays there. Is there something that i did wrong or maybe the rebuilders did wrong. I have tried a different oil pumps i though maybe the builders installed a n/a pump so i found a use automatic turbo oil pump from the junkyard and that too did not help. Is there anyway to know for sure if its a turbo a pump. This oil pressure and temperature problem is really getting on my nerves!! Someone please help!!!!
  21. Please don't take offence to this Gollum, because I think NOS is a very reliable power source. Who cares if it is a on and off power that runs out, it’s sorta like gas but perfect to run a sleeper. I think I just might go NOS, because it would be the perfect way to get rid of turbo lag indefinitely and Keep drivability. I think I even have a nos bottle laying around from my V8Z that I never got around to hooking up. Hey thanks for reminding me!!!
  22. You are very funny NISMOPICK. I understand that already, but since I have a rise rate fuel regular and new injectors I might as well us them. I can easily raise fuel pressure and turn the stock injectors into 380cc injectors and keep the stock ECU. That way I can save a ton of money rather then on other set of injectors and stand alone a laptop, programmer and dyno time. This is an extremely large cost. I don't know about you but I can spend a ton of money like that. At the same time this would be a daily driver on pump gas! Z-ya do you have anything else to add, I trust you more than the nosepicker.
  23. Z-ya are you saying with the stock block I can achieve 325whp, but I would need everything listed above? As of now I have: - T3/T4 turbo with stage 3 turbine fitted in stock rear housing and T04E front housing - Intercooler 12x24x3 (3†intercooler Piping) - Higher output fuel pump (MSD pumps, good for 500HP) - 3" exhaust (crush bend) - RRFPR (able to rate fuel pressure) - 3†Weber Throttlebody - High compression pistions (stock Flat Tops) How much more do i need to achieve numbers like the ones you said
  24. Hello All, I need some options to get me too 350rwhp on pump gas the cheapest. Would only head work do it Would only Stroker bottom end do it Would only Stand alone do it How about just a bigger turbo would I have to mix and match 2 or 3 of these or do all four in order to achieve this type of horsepower.
