  1. You might want to look at the azc 4 barrel manifold, i think that its better, price wise, I have one that is on my z , but i cant comment on the performance as it is a work in progress http://arizonazcar.com/manifold.html
  2. for what is worth the ford 5.4 exhaust studs work, they are 8mm, that is what i used for my 4 barrel swap, the part # is -w703902-s403 for what appears to be copper or -n811313-s431 for just regular metal studs and if i remember correctly they are a little longer than the stock nissan studs
  3. 145HP and 265lbs of good ole ford powa bub
  4. i wouldnt reccomend a 5.4 sohc engine, they like to blow the spark plugs out, and the helicoil method wont work with this particular engine, so a new head is like 1300 or so, i know i wouldnt want to shell out 1300 everytime a sprk plug gets blown out
  5. I am a parts guy at a ford garage and from my first hand experience the 5.4 is that they have a tendancy to blow the spark plugs out of the cylinder head(not all but enough to call it fairly common), and the heli coil remedy will work for a short time but it WILL damage the internals of the engine, my advice is to read into it before you do it, especally scince the only right way to fix a blown spark plug hole on a 5.4 is to replace the head, and at over 1300 a pop id make sure that i wouldnt have to worry about something like that.
  6. hello, I am a proud owner of a 78 280z coupe and i currently havce all the necessary parts to put the arizona 4 barrel manifold in place of my pooched efi, and the question that i had was whether or not it is alright to remove the efi fuel pump and put a lower pressure inline electric in its place, or......? thanx for any suggestions, gets me one step closer to melting the rubber off from those dry rotted tires
  7. http://www.arizonazcar.com/manifold.html and go onto jegs to get the carb, a holley 390, model 4160 i think, and get the accessory kit for it, it comes with diaphraghm springs and an inline fuel pump. for the holley with the kit and free 1-2 day shipping i paid 324.96. From what i understand the carb works great right out of the box, and they reccomen a 5-7.5 psi pump, you can get an inline rated for that at napa for like 40 bucks
  8. the engine from what i was told is a 91 350, it came as a whole long block assembly and looks to be in very good shape, its a flat tappet lifter motor, but i dont know whether or not its a 2 or 4 bolt, i havent had a chance to identify it and i dont know where the casting numbers that identify it are.
  9. Hey, im new to this site and am the proud owner of a 78 280z 2 seater coupe. recently i found a deal that i couldnt pass up, a 91 350 small block that was pulled at 30k for warranty lifter tap. I picked up the long block for 200 and its now sitting in a friends basement. The challenge that i am running into now is what to go with for a drivetrain, I would love to have a standard but im not sure if it is goingo to be feasible considering my somewhat limited budget. I was wondering what you folks would recomend for a transmission that wont break my wallet as badly as buying say a t56. also as far as the engine is concerned, can anyone help me identify what this motor is as far as the casting numbers and where they are located? What cam profile do you think would best match the car, and what is the maximum recomended redline rpm for stock sbc rotating assemblies? and what cfm carb should i use? Also I have a set of heads that i picked up with the motor and i was told that they were high compression heads, I am looking to identify what they are and what they fit, so if there is anyone out there that can tell me where the #'s that identify them are located please pm me. At this point the project is in the very early stages so if there is anyone out there with anything as far as running gear or engine parts for something like this please feel free to message me.
