  1. Haha I did tow my car home with my dad's 4runner. It's a 2009 but a v6 none the less. Worked flawlessly, good thing he was driving too i'm nowhere near talented enough to drive well with a trailer, but ya 4runners are great for towing. I didn't have any extra parts in the back though, that's a bit more weight. I'm looking forward to the times when I can just pick up a couple extra engines and spare parts here and there and tinker with them in-between driving my Z. I still don't believe Z's were made to be driven, not mine anyways. It's meant to sit in my garage for an eternity as a "project". I'm still quite jealous of everyone on here who can acctually drive their Z's. I've never even been able to sit in the driver's seat and pretend I'm driving mine haha

Well hurry and finish it! Lol that i got mt new job ill be possibly sending mine to a shop to be painted rather then going to maaco.

  2. I think the 4Runner is my best option if I don't want to rent a tow vehicle, unless my buddy wants to volunteer his '89 7.3 Powerstroke!

Maybe I'll just put a hitch on my 260Z...

The bigger challenge will be fitting the extra wheels, 2 engines, 2 transmissions, air dam, carbs, etc. somewhere.

As for pics, I suppose I can post the ones I got from the owner of when the Z was complete and in the UK. They're not the greatest quality but you get the "picture" <_< :

Anything performance youd like to sell from the other Z let me know too :)

  3. I was just thinking today about how I want to go about towing. I suppose there are a few options. One is to drive down there in the fiancee's Subi Outback, stuff Outback full of parts, rent truck+trailer and tow the Z home. Another is to do the same, but rent the truck here so we don't have to drive 2 cars back home. Yet another would be to borrow fiancee's mom's 2001 4Runner and rent a trailer in SLO. Pack the 4Runner with parts and tow the Z home.

I'll make a FS post for all the parts I'm getting rid of once I can catalogue what I have. I may have some extra valves...

Right on, lemme know what you have. I really don't want to buy some from MSA :icon45:

  4. Keep in mind the mileage for the truck portion of the rental. That might get expensive, well if your selling stuff let me know what you have. I still need some L24 valves :) Or just tell your fiance that the 260 will be sitting at another location till you can figure out what to do and go and pick up the new Z lol.

Im hopefully getting a new car soon to commute to the job. I know I was hated for this at the bbq but I think I see a new VW GTI in my future.

  5. Congrats on the new job!

Motivation to get started is tough sometimes. I've found that if I can make myself walk into the garage and start, I usually get on a roll and re-motivate myself.

Yea..problem is I take my dogs through there to the potty area. Im going to get back on it very soon, awesome thing today, I got a set of rims with tires for free! It was my going away present from my current job. My last day is tomorrow. Today they had a baby shower for me(Yes ME!) lol and I got some enkie rims that have Kumho tires on. I believe they're 16's x ? lol he siad I could use them for my Z but Its not the looks im going for, but I want to put them on anyways since they are better looking then the rims I have now. I'll take some pics and post them up a little later. Tomorrow is my last day of work so I will be going laser tagging tonight with everyone and having a beer :)

  6. Hey everyone,

Its been awhile since I posted anything, my wife is pregnant, I'm starting a new mid nov and ive been feeling really off balance as far as doing any type of responsibilities go, no motivation to do anything and I dont know why. Anyways, I have to order a new rear panel in the bumper area, after I get that Ill be ready to start welding everything together and get the car painted. I will try to get going again next week when I'm off before the new job starts.

  7. I'll check that out, thank you

I really want to stay with the shifter I have it's been cut and bent and sits really well, so trying to find the plastic rectangle Bushing for the zx shifter instead of getting a z shifter..

Got it. I bought some plastic ones from Datsun llc on ebay. I just don't want to switch them out again later.

  8. Not sure if this would fall in this category, but I have a question about the Bushing in the shifter of a "b 5 speed transmission?" I believe it is.

I bought this 71 240z and it has a f54 l28 and a 5 speed, the shifter is very lose so I searched around and found the trick of getting door hinge repair brass Bushing and putting it on, so went get those at local store, and came back and took everything apart to find out it's the shifter with the yellow rectangle type Bushing.. And to my surprise its not even on it.. Like they forgot to put it on.

So the little brass Bushings won't work because the hole in the shifter is rectangle.. so main question is where do I find the plastic yellow rectangle piece?

Junkyard? Any other cars besides the s30 and s130z's?

I think I heard something about the s12?

    Thank you

Get the older shifter from an s30 and then you can use the Help bushings.

Look at the shifter in here, thats the one you would need. You'll have to heat up the bushing portion on the shifter so the holes get a tad bigger and freeze the bushings before hand so they are a tad smaller. Should just tap right in with a hammer.
