  1. Aslo should add, I'm running turbo injectors. Bought them on accident. But when it idles it actually does not seem to be rich.
  2. Well I just finished shaving my intake and adding a custom fuel rail. Its an 83 ZX and for some reason I cannot get it to rev? It will idle, low.. but it will idle. But once I barely touch the throttle it boggs out. I cannot for the life of me find a vac leak. Everything is grounded.... And I am just completely stumped. I also followed Braaps little write up for shaving the intake. At a total loss, for some reason everyone else has the complete opposite?
  3. I have a 6 to 2 to 1header that is round port that I purchased for my ZX only to find that it does not fit. Based off what I have found its for the good ole Z not ZX plain and simple. So if you have a header sitting around for a ZX please let me know. I have this one I am willing to trade or just purchase yours. Thanks for any future help.
  4. Man thats awesome! I wish i could have scored a 240 for my first Z! Nothing but rusted out ZX's around here. Although I did make out pretty good for my first and second Z's costing me an initial $600 haha both ran after 2 hours each. But still.... thats going to be one rockin 240!

  9. So this is planned out to be my first engine mod... "bear" with me. I am trying to clean up my engine bay and my stock intake mani is very cluttered. I picked up a n 42 intake to swap over and ditch the emissions, gotta love Arkansas haha. Will this plan work? what all will I be leaving off with this swap? Any pointers are greatly appreciated.   10. The temp and gas gauge on mine didnt work, I pulled the cluster and split it open yesterday. if you unscrew the board that has the speedo and tac on it there is a fuse that is soldered onto the board. I heated mine, pulled the fuse, and replaced. Works like a charm.... For now.

I uncovered about 2 inches of bondo off my driverside rear quarter panel and what do ya know! its all bent to hell and back! i really need a patch panel but who knows how much that bad boy would cost to ship, so i might as well look for a hood and another patch panel for the floor above the tank! Also i need a new electric mirror for the passenger side, pref a heated one. Also to make things better my MIG burned up... how delightful right? So I am also looking for another MIG, and no... I don't do flux. But i don't do anything major, just mainly for body work. Anything you could scrounge up would be greatly appreciated! I use paypal and if its not close enough for pickup i would need to ship to 72936. Thanks everyone!

  13. Ive got an 82 zx that is running, "roughly" but still drives. but im not very close to FL. FT Smith AR, but i would take $750 for it. i just picked up another zx to work on, so i would be taking some of the new parts i purchased off, starter, alt, coil, plug wires, etc.

It has been a very busy weekend over here! made up my ghetto cardboard mold, worked pretty well. oh yeah!! my car runs now! apparently i failed to notice that the PO had somewhere along the line got the dist. off 180 degrees. switched the plug wires accordingly and fired right up! Its running a little rich but thats a lot better than not running at all!!! Im sure the timing is pretty off, and its running pretty rich. New sensors are on the way and the bumper is almost finished up. i need to repatch one of the blinker holes, some how managed to grind a whole through the fiberglass.

I had this same problem, i went ahead and replaced the slave and the master. turns out they were both bad... horrible condition actually. the master was stuck with the clutch disengaged and the slave was just screwed all together. on my 82 the slave was super easy to get to once i jacked the front up. its right on the side of the bell housing. two bolts and a hyd line. I'd go ahead and get a new hyd line too, its only about 6 inches long and if yours is like mine its probably the factory connection and very brittle. all together cost me about $30 after tax. probably not the best quality parts but they only need to last until i swap out for a SBC.

Finally made some progress on my Z this weekend! ripped out all the interior, carpet, center console, lower part of the dash, panels on the walls, spare tire mess, insulation, about $10 in loose change, and of course the seats. started working on the rust issues also. found a little more after i pulled everything out, but still i am pretty pleased with the state of the body! took out my trusty ole angle grinder with a wire brush on it to make quick of the paint removal in all effected areas. there are a few pits around the gas cap, cleaned up around it but im a little concerned as to how how deal with rust between the interior and exterior steel panels. not too familiar with stuff like that. The spare tire well is pretty bad looking after i removed the rust, pretty holey actually. But it will ultimately be deleted the further i go. Removed the rear bumper with some brute force lol. its pretty rusted along the driver side corner... should be nice and fun to repair. im thinking a few layers of POR15 with some glass over it will do the trick. its not a huge area of rust and its not a complete loss, just not the best shape. after that is all patched up i will be making my cardboard mold to pour in my 2 part foam so i can carve it down to shave the bumper, then add my glass and smooth it out. the designs i have for the interior will be pretty tricky.. but will most definitely pay off in the end. it will be a 100% custom glass over foam interior. the weather is actually suppose to be about 70s here the rest of the week so hopefully that will help with curing times of my foam and glass resin so this part of the resto wont take up a whole lot of time. and take a look at my hideous air damn.. that needs a change for sure. i think its held on my 2 rivets hahaha. Work in progress for sure! let me know what you guys think!
  18. Well pulled the rail today... Cleaned up the injectors and put it back in.. But now my solenoid is just clicking.. So I'll be picking up a new starter next week sometime. Hopefully then I can check my timing and hopefully work out all the kinks. Tomorrow I'm just going to skip too the interior and try some nice glass enclosures around the deck. Should turn out pretty good looking.
  19. So it started to rain so I'm done for the night. But I did switch out the plugs for shits and giggles. Haha 1 yr warranty. They looked pretty bad too. My plug wires haven't came in yet but I'm getting a spark still. Yanking off the fuel rail tomorrow to clean my injectors.. And I think my timing is off pretty bad, maybe that's what is giving me a backfire through the intake.. I'm feeling like I'm at a dead end here. I'm on my phone but will upload a pic of the blue mystery plug in a few.
  20. also i have notice that i have a blue connector in my engine bay right up close to the pass. side headlight. what in the world does this go to? i have searched everywhere and cant figure out what this goes to! haha this is getting sad.

Didnt get to make it to the Z today. still hopping that pulling the rail and cleaning the injectors this weekend will solve my problem. cant narrow it down to which injector is stuck open.. but im sure that cylinder will be brimming with fuel.will i need to replace all the injectors at one time? if so it will probably be awhile till i get this beast running. im going to check and see how they are looking on my spare engine. hopefully those are nice and shiny! but im sure it wont be that easy, ha never is. but i might just have to start on the interior while im saving some change for 6 injectors and all the fixins to switch them out. im thinking about fabing up some pretty bitchin custom fiberglass moldings around the interior and custom center console. plus i do need to take of the dash cap thats in right now. ive got some cool ideas for smoothing out a new dash. all glass of course. i really enjoy working with the stuff. but still if there is anyone in the area who wants to work on a fellow Z hit me up! im always open to learn!
  22. Ok.... Well back to square one. I found out that two plug wires were switched. And a vacuum line was missing going to what I believe is the fuel reg on top of the fuel rail. But now I'm hearing a strange hissing noise while the fuel pump is priming. And I get a what sounds like a backfire through the airbox.. Needless to say she's not running now. Pretty upsetting. She totally blue balled me with the whole "running" lastnight. I'm at a loss. This blows
  23. She runs!!!!!!! More wiring to work out this weekend.. But refardless she's taking her first trip under her own power in over 8 years Sunday evening. So pumped
  24. new fuel pump was the trick! ha, if it was only that easy. but i am getting fuel now! she stumbles around a little then dies off. took the battery out for a charge to make sure i can do all the trouble shooting i want with full juice! man.. i could have cried when she actually ran for a bit.. was beautiful! and yeah he told me 1200 about a week ago.. its got some rust for sure.. and i didnt even get to really look around. But as i was taking a quick look at that 280 i got a random text from a man in Van Buren. thats where i got this beautiful beast! $400 with an extra motor. but now that i know this motor isnt locked im needing to get rid of it. by the time i get to the level of wanting an engine swap it'll be a 350.. but thats waaaaaaay down the road. once i get my baby rollin down the road we should meet up! id love to check out a nice local Z!
