  1. nah guys i wasn't trying to come off as being angry at all, all i was saying was it is possible and just because something "looks" fast doesn't always mean it is. looks only tell half of the story. and i know we all know this but this guy is prob trying to get away with something but at the same time like someone said b4, he might not know what he has.

anyways sorry if it seemed as if i came off as being negative

  2. not that this guy ISNT full of crap! but to say that its unbelievable to have a 600hp l28et is crazy.. being born and raised in japan, it wasn't THAT uncommon to see 500-600hp l28et's on the streets of japan.. its not hard but the price of parts here in the states is JUST FREAKIN CRAZY!! and for a car as popular as the fairlady the aftermarket isn't as big as it should be.. my friend just got back from okinawa two weeks ago and told me that they still have parts ON THE SHELF for old corolla ae-86's... And as for the fact that no one has ever seen him post here on hybridz.org...... seriously start thinking outside of your soapbox. there are plenty of people around the world and in the states that have enough experience to build a pretty awsome z without the help of the internet, let alone a forum... anyways this car does look like it needs some work and the ride height looks kinda high but lower doesn't always mean better, especially with a car designed to be as high as our z's are stock. the engine doesn't look THAT bad it just doesn't have that show car shine on it that everyone is used to.. def a sleeper if it has anything over 500hp

  3. thanks guys for all your feedback.. see what i'm really wondering is whether or not the flywheel is worth a crap.. i already have a clutch (stock turbo clutch brand new sadly) but i really need a flywheel.. there are fidanza flywheels on e-bay also, so i might pick up one of those

my question is will this kit work for a turbo car? it doesn't say anything about being able to fit a turbo... i really need to get a turbo flywheel for my swap and right now i'm on an n/a clutch/flywheel combo..

all i'm asking is are there any suitable substitutes that came off of other nissan models or am i just screwed.. autozone and all those other places don't sell the flywheels anymore

  5. i'm not sure how important it is or whatever BUT i will tell you that when i did my turbo swap i completely disconnected the pvc crap... just make sure you have NO vacuum leaks when you take it off... mine was leaking and it was causing way more problems then it was fixing..

  6. okay so i'm also in need of a decent flywheel, and right now i have a stock 280zxt clutch in my garage but NOBODY down here in the panhandle has a turbo flywheel so i'm looking at the EBAY UNIT but i'm not sure if the fidanza they sell is worth a damn.. i mean have any of you guys tried it out?

  7. yeah both trannies are covered in this forum BUT neither one of those transmissions (from what i've seen) is a direct swap.. at least the z32 trans.. i 've searched but haven't really found anything about the 240sx trans what i'm looking for is anything that would be a direct swap.. if not i could just get my 5spd rebuilt but i'm not sure how much that would cost..

  8. mmyes mmyes you are right in assuming that it is a safety concern getting in and out of traffic in a timely manner.. i understand.. thats my thing also though i don't really drive all out i usually just use my tranny to get into and out of traffic without being slammed into.. here in Florida, on highway 98 people don't really look out for other drivers.. so how did you modify your transmission?

  9. well umm yes your 100% right i should check out these "used" transmissions before i install them but thats not really what i'm asking here... i'm just wondering if transmissions from a 240sx or newer nissan truck are maybe the same or similar.. right now i'm in the market to either buy a transmission or have mine rebuilt. not trying to sound rude or anything i'm just not sure what to do with what i already have

  10. okay guys this might be a dumb question but what transmissions can i use from different cars on a my 280z turbo car? i keep buying n/a transmissions for like 150 bucks and keep smashing them with stock power.. i don't really drive hard they are all just old and crappy.. what newer cars transmissions can i use with minimal to no modifications?

and yes i did search... for like 30 minutes but i still didn't find anything that answered my question

  11. cool guys thanks for the advice, i think i might end up doing the same thing... well i might just go ahead and hook up a 2.5 in pipe and somehow get it to go out to the front of the radiator and see if i can use one of my old pieces of tubing to seal everything up or whatever..

my main concern now is what to do with all of the unused vacuum lines... right now i can't really get it to idle right

  12. i have a 1976 280z and an 81 280zxt that i swaped in... i posted previously about my fuel pump issue but i ended up figureing that out anyways so i guess thats no big deal anymore.. but now i'm wondering what to do with my air flow meter..

the way everything is set up, using the stock 280zx piping, it hits my radiator and i'm not sure if i should just cut and splice new wire to make it longer so i can locate it where my old fresh air filter used to be located or could i somehow get rid of it for a better setup..

also there are like three vacuum lines not to mension all of the other ones off of the intake manifold that somehow got disconnected during the transfer and i have no clue to where they should go.. the car actually runs better with a few of them just disconnected?!! anyways any help would be greatly appreciated.. i'm mainly wondering how you guys routed your intake

  13. yeah man i don't think you'll get an answer or any pics about how to wire the fuel pump anywhere on here... i've searched far and wide and still haven't found anything.... i'm thinking about just using the fuel pump relay out of a 280zxt in my 76 280z and seeing if that would work..

  14. so yeah sorry about spelling every other word wrong in my title for this post but i'm just wondering has anyone else had this problem? this is my first time swaping an engine out and doing all the electrical stuff without any help from a pro/my pops.. anyways i could post pics up if anyone is unsure about what i'm talking about

  15. so yeah i've spent the weekend trying to swap in this motor... not hard..

but i get to the wiring and the i've been banging my head up against the wall for the past couple of hours trying to figure it all out...

i don't understand what i should do with all of the extra wires listed in his write-up..

    http://www.yadamnfool.com/turbo_z_conversion/s130_zxt_to_s30_z.htm

in figure "P" and "N" he states that those wires will be used again but i'm wondering WHERE? it never says.. the write-up is so vague when it comes to the extra wires.. i'm not sure what to do.. also i took out my fuel pump relay but where do i get power and where do i put it at? someone commented on sticky here with some useful information but it kinda doesn't make sense.. like where is pin 87 and 30 for constant 12 volts and constant power to battery... anyways i've been wondering about this and ANY help would be greatly appreciated thanks

and yes i've been searching my butt off
