  1. Try piercemanifolds.com, or redlineweber.com. Also keep an eye on ebay, once in a while you'll find weber parts.
  2. Thanks for the info. When my uncle Tim bought the 4-door '66 Buick skylark, the owner said it hasn't been run in 13 years. We changed the fluids, sprayed a little wd- 40 in the spark plug holes, let it soak for a few minutes, hooked a battery to it, and it fired right up and ran about perfect. We couldn't believe it. The car only had 65000 miles on it. He used to run his buicks pretty hard and they rarely broke down. He also had a shoebox full of speeding tickets
  3. I was thinking about rebuilding it and using it stock, except my uncle had a 4-barrel manifold for it that I would use. He told me they had about 260 hp. Would the mounts be from an early '80's regal or grand nat'l? Thanks for the help.

    Nice looking setup.
  5. I have a Buick 340 v8 with a two speed transmission with 65,000 miles on it. My uncle had this motor taken out of a '66 Skylark 4-door, and he was going to put it in his 2-door, but he passed away the week before Thanksgiving from diabetes. He was 55 years old. He always tried to talk me into putting a V-8 into my 78 280z or my 79 280zx, but I never took him seriously. Since he helped me get both of my z's, I was thinking about swapping in his buick 340 as a tribute to him. Would the chevy mounting kits work with this, or would I have to fab custom mounts? What else would I need to make this work? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

    My new 06 xterra

I bet that would make a great powerplant for an old z, or a 240sx, if it would fit.

  8. I appreciate all the great advice you've been giving me. I have bad luck searching most of the time, and I like to ask questions that are specifically for my application, rather than searching for, and reading numerous threads that may or may not have the info I need. This way saves me alot of time that I can use working on my cars. Thanks for the help.
  9. I'm planning on building an engine for both of my cars, a 1979 280zx, and a 1978 280z 2+2. I will have a triple weber 40mm setup on the '79, and I was trying to keep the '78 stock looking with fuel injection. I have two F-54/ P-79 engines with under 90,000 miles on them. Would I be better off changing to the N-47 heads raising the compression, or should I keep the P-79 heads on and use them. Would it make a noticable difference between the two compression ratios with fuel injection? Thanks For The Info.
  10. Thanks for the advice, I'm trying to figure out what my best options are. I have a 78 280z 2+2, and a 79 280zx which both have n47 blocks/heads. I also have two parts cars with f-54 blocks/ p-79 heads. I'm planning on building one with triple weber 40mm's(which I already have), and the other car will be either NA fuel injected, or turbocharged. What do you think would be my best route to choose?
  11. Last May, I bought a 1995 pathfinder with 105,000 miles, had it for two weeks, had the oil temp sensor blow out, and locked up the motor (vg30e). After having it sit at a garage for 5 months, they decided to tell me the warranty didn't cover it. I found a whole parts car for $500, with a good drivetrain (94000 miles), and changed motor, tranny, and trans.case. Now I have all these extra parts. My question is, will the throttlebody from the vg30e work as an upgrade for a 280z,or zx? I'm not sure of the size whether it's 60mm, or if it's the same as a 240sx TB. Would anything else from this motor be interchangable with the l-28e ?(Ex. ignition, etc.)Any advice would be appreciated.
  12. I have been tuning my 98 240sx since I bought it in 2002 one part at a time, and so far this is what I've done: Injen short ram, megan header, downpipe, test pipe, HKS catback,Nology hot wires, ngk laser iridium plugs, fidanza aluminum flywheel, act xtss clutch, nismo radcap. The car has really good power, but when you go down a hill and let off, it backfires a little bit, and it seems like it is running rich. I noticed a brown mark above the exhaust tip on the bumper, which never happened before. I have been waiting to upgrade my ecu till I get everything I want to add. I'm planning on getting 91-93 cams, ignition system(msd or nology), pulley set, and ecu upgrade. Can I adjust the timing to correct the mixture for the time being, or should my next step be upgrading the ecu, and should I get the other parts I mentioned before I upgrade the ecu. What ecu upgrade would you recommend? What timing would be right for my car the way it is? Any advice would be appreciated.
