  1. Well the idea behind this swap kit is to keep the price down and have a solid swap. To refabricate completly a cross member is costly. With the hood cowl we chose it is not a drastic change and if you llok at the picture taken from the side you can see it does not stick out that much. Drew:icon14:
  2. I have done a few now and the headache with this swap is the stock ECU/ immobilzer system.. I strongly suggest a Haltech Platinum. If you take our kit there is no fabricating to be done. The little opening for the stock starter on a stock Z32 tranny needs to be cut. I have not had access to the VQ37 yet so I do not know. I personnally am waiting for a GTR smash and will skip right to that development for the Z and G cars and perhaps a R34 swap. Haltech are almost finished with the system for the GTR. In passing i think the bell rear of the VQ35 and 37 are the same because they share the same recent gear box. Did I help?
  3. no machining required, depending on your application the shifter linkage and bracket will have to be modified (we do that) For the 350Z swap a cut in the stock starter position is required the small opening on the side of the tranny. Yes there are two dowel locations.. Drew
  4. The kit comes with all the mounting hardware for both bolt ups, instructions and a template on where to cut the bell housing. Drew
  5. they share the same bell housing.
  6. There are choices and the 6 speed is a good gearbox but the units that are available cheap are usually bad. The Z32 box is far better. I raced (circuit racing) the 6 speed and it is not a cooperative unit depending on your application. If you have a Z32 gear box which I am sure everyone agree's is a solid unit there is an adaptor available (SHAMELESS PLUG) to bolt it to the VQ. AND, We also have a diagram available to wire in the stock ECU and NATS to the 300zx and 240SX. Drew
  7. The starter that works right for the right side of the 350Z oil pan.... is the FX35/G35X starter. We priced the adaptor plate and it makes more sense to just buy the Other starter. Great for our VQ swap in Right hand drive 240SX and 300ZX.... Jason, send me back the 350Z starter and I'll send you a FX35 starter. To: the federal address. Drew
  8. Well the spacer works but you need to figure out what your particular clearance is for the starter in relation to the engine bay, rack ..... . Drew We can make the spacer for you for $150.
  9. I'll let you know, we are fabricating a spacer this week. Drew
  10. What starter fits on the right side of the VQ, I know you can use the 350Z starter with 3/4" spacer but there has to be one that is a fit. this is with the 350Z oil pan. Thanks Drew
  11. Custom Cross member 300ZX tranny mount stock in urethane Cut shifter whole and interior parts (where ashtray is located) or we offer the modified shifter bracket Urethane 300ZX motor mounts reverse 350Z aluminum engine mounts Custom 2 or 1 piece driveshaft Stock 300ZX rad modify in position on fuel rail to drivers side. addition of fuel pressure regulator 2 custom down pipes to hook up with stock exhaust positions. couple of options for hood scoops (very discreet) less than 2" rise with window side opening. There are no steering, exhaust, starter or tunnel clearance issues. Again if interested please PM. Drew
  12. We are now offering the complete kit with instructions for this swap. it is detailed but very possible and a great way to get more power to weight and overall balnce in this fine car. PM for details on the swap. Drew
  13. Thanks for the link, no i did not do a google search. Thanks again for your efforts. The basis of the question was for a Manual to bolt to the VQ35DE Pathfinder block. It is the best oil pan to use for the 300ZX swap, if the gear ratio of the tranny is not to laid back it is a very good option. Thanks Again Drew
  14. Any body know the gear ratio's of this transmission? Thanks Drew
  15. I will post the photo's soon but here is the list of what is to be done for this to work. Cut crossmember Modified and capped with 1/8" steel. Stock 350Z mounts need to reverse side's. The Motor mounts need to be leveled out and raised a bit for use with GTR mounts. The passenger side motor mount(350Z) has to be modified shaved to fit the headers. the tranny hole cut slightly to fit the rise of the shifter but no modification to the 6 speed. a 1" tube spacer can be used welded to a stock 300ZX tranny mount. No modifications to the oil pan or motor. stock starter no problem. THERE IS NO WAY TO DO THIS SWAP AND CLEAR THE CROSS MEMBER AND HAVE A STOCK HOOD!!! FACT!! YOU WILL NEED A DECENT SIZE COWL (GOOD FOR MAJOR COOLING ANYWAY)!!!! I think the pictures will make it all more clear. but it works. Drew
  16. It is a Vr6 race modified and in that shot I am driving the Stock VQ30 with a stock ECU. During a practice session I believe. The Jetta weighs about 2100lbs Drew
  17. I know that the motor itself will be smaller in the cavity, should be no problem. Its the tranny that is the issue, there are no known brackets available for the swap. If you go with the 6 speed it will be a little more complicated for shifter placement and tunnel size. Drew
  18. Yes, there is enough pressure. It was the placement of the pick up on the fuel cell and the way the baffles are in the cell that added to a few setting problems in the MS. Cheers Drew
  19. Thanks to everyone who helped me with this, it turns out that aside from the mega squirt settings for falling and rising edge, there were some air bubble problems in the fuel cell along with fuel being forced to the back of the tank and the pump sucking air. Inturn some additional bucking. Car set to rising edge and yes the timing advances with the map. So I guess my mega was set up worng from DIY. Thanks Again to everyone, now I can put the car to bed for the winter knowing I can race next season. Drew
  20. what other Nissans does this diff fit on i bought a 92 300ZX TT Diff, axles and knuckles / 5 bolt spindles at a great deal and I want to know if i can put it on my 1973 240Z or 0r my 1990 240SX ? Thanks in advance Drew
  21. Sorry what is FA? and what is COP's? I will know more tonight in regards to the car and its fixed state, I do know that it stopped doing it on the the jack stands where it was before so? I plan to make the sensor bracket available, spec for the 36-1 wheel mounting, wiring diagram for VQ's, custom spark wire set up, settings for start up and advanced dyno set-up. I think all my experiences with this will make it a breeze for anybody else doing it. Drew
  22. Well the gentleman that came to help me on Friday discovered late Friday night that one of the settings requested on the MS site is wrong for some reason or another. The setting under Ignition settings for Ignition input capture should be set to rising edge not falling edge as said on the MS site. Unless when DIY built my unit they messed up somewhere. We went back and forth between falling and rising and when it was set to falling it was bucking and cutting out set to rising it was smooth through the rev range. i will be going to the track tomorrow to confirm, I will let you all know. Thanks again to a great bunch of guys and all the trouble shooting was indeed a lesson for me. Thanks Drew
  23. Tried these settings, and last night we spent about 6 hours trying everything possible. Tested all lines for noise, everything is normal Filters on everthing anyway all grounds confirmed and placed accordingly completely removed the alternator (changed nothing) tested for arching (none) new helicore custom wires VR signal is good and wire is clean we tested three EDIS modules, three coil packs, tested all the wires between the two and found that with a timing light when going through the revs you see the crank jitter when it does its cuts, if you remove the signal wire from the MS to the EDIS it stops and it runs ok through the RPM at 10 degrees, plug back in the signal from MS and the problem is back. We looked at the signal on a very good scope and the signal coming from the MS looks good!!! I have a brand new TPS and the signal is good, the MAP signal is good, all the wiring seems good. What next? Has anybody successfully done the VQ with the MSII version 3 and EDIS 6? IF SO I WILL PAY FOR A DETAILED LIST OF WHAT HE/SHE HAS DONE AND IS USING DOWN TO PLUGS, WIRES,GROUND POINTS, INJECTORS, BATTERY AND SO ON. Don't include Fred Allen Burge in that list because he is not done his either. Thanks guys/girls Drew
