  1. I just bid at the begging of this month. And i had to battle for it! Ill have to look into the epoxy resins. I really just want to find the non-moving, non-cracking, seam filling solution and you guys have been a big help, as usual!! Thanks
  2. So, I finally snagged my IMSA 3 piece spoiler from ebay for a pretty good deal, and i was poking around the body kit and paint forum looking for some blending advice. I learned that its good to use a specialty adhesive to bond the spoiler to the body, along with the bolts and screws for added stability. I hit a dead end when trying to find the best way to blend the spoiler with the body though. Some posts said use fiberglass, some said use bondo, but i really wanted to know what was best. I don't know anything about using fiberglass, but i would learn if it turned out to be a better choice. Anybody have any advice or threads i may have missed? Maybe some pro's or con's, or just techniques that other people used to mount theirs? Thanks in advance guys!
  3. i figured my l26 motor wouldnt go for much, but theres not much power opportunity left in it. I have roundtop carbs and a cam, but the adjustments are bothersome, so i was thinking "go l28". I decided against buying the car for now due to a slight lack of space, but thanks for the advice guys!
  4. thats what i was planning on doing. i just hear that its difficult to swicth over all of the efi equipment. but i think itll probably be worth it. and then i can sell my rock solid l26! what do you think?
  5. what do you guys think. i have a 1974 260z with a stock carburetor motor and theres a 1977 280zx up the street for 700 obo (i figure 500 cash). Guys neighbor says the car is driven often and runs well, but the body looks like a junker (good thing i dont need it). Ive been yearning for some FI to replace those pesky carburetors, but i understand its tough to convert a car to FI. Anyone have any advice/opinions on whether or not i should start a swap? My plan would be just to make it run in my z in the begging, and then a little down the road id begin dumping money into it to make it a hyrbrid Z!! Thanks for your input in advance!
  6. im not sure...i would think probably some chisel work if its a part car...but im not a body man...so im not sure. it should be easy if its fiberglass, cause it would break with a tap, but bondo might be a little more difficult. If you manage to find an easy way to remove it with little collateral, i might be interested. Thanks.
  7. ok. there may be some good news here. Just called jim cook racing and the lady there said she had a connection on the east coast that still makes em. she called for a price and shipping cost and said shed call me back. she hasnt yet. but then i also got an email from wings west from a guy and he gave me a part number and price for a 3 piece not listed on their website and said he was pretty sure they could still make it. So im waiting to hear back from JCR. Hopefully i can get my hands on one of these things.
  8. i emailed them for an answer to that question and they haven't responded yet. It's in their online catalog, but i read that they stopped producing it.
  9. i would if i could find a piece that shape and height. the bre wing is much shorter and doesnt conform to the body as this one does. If I was a fiberglass wizz or something, i would just make one too, but im clueless about that. wouldnt even know where to start.
  10. Comes in three pieces (fiberglass). I know it used to be a hot topic but not many people have mentioned it lately according to the search button. Looks like im a little late for the race. Im desperate to get one though, and all out of leads. If you need more info theres about 5 posts under "IMSA 3 Piece" (search)
  11. I finally decide on the look i want for my Z, get ready to spend the big bucks, and find that the IMSA 3 piece spoiler is considered "rare"...that sucks. I've been researching, searching, calling and emailing for two days, and i got moot. Checked old threads for leads. No one makes em anymore. Anyone got a spare? I fnot, i might have to go with a camaro knock off, and i really dont want to do that!
  12. thats awesome!! congratulations to you!
  13. oh man hat sucks...my car was stolen too...luckily i got it back that night...all i can say is make sure your neighbor didnt do it...and good luck getting it back!
  14. i found one of those in my car stuffed up behind my choke light and it turned out to be the switch for the automatic antenna motor...i dont know if yours is for the same thing, but its the same switch...
  15. new news to me...im thinking im just gonna bite the financial bullet and go with dynamat! all i hear are good things things about it
  16. Does anyone know where i can find one of these? or can anyone write me out the fuse to # relationship? its for a 1974 260z and i dont have my cover so i dont know which fuse does what. fuse sizes would be great to if anyone had em...thanks guyS!!
  17. my daily driver has now become my z project! ive got brakes, bondo, bumpers, sound dampening, painting, and a slew of other things to deal with now...working on it everyday is nice! i still drive it everyday though. i just found a dual fan unit at the junkyard that i think will stop my overheating problem but i cant decide if i should mount it to the ac condenser as a pusher, or take the condenser off and just mount to the frame in front of the radiator...my ac doesnt work now, but should i fix it?... does anyone else use their ac? should i just scrap the thing for the sake of performance? im so indecisive...
  18. this picture has a strange way of making you appreciate what youve got eh?!
  19. im gonna tear into those breaks for the first time ever soon...so i may be back with some more questions, but i will definetly try that! thanx for the tip
  20. i searched the forum and i couldnt find help...maybe someone has a link...anyway so i took my car to the shop to replace my brake system and make everything run smooth...i have an ear splitting squeel everytime i apply the brakes...they put new rotors on once, then replaced the pad when the squeeling started (didnt squeel before they touched it)...this time they told me the squeel is a trademark of the z braking system and that they cant do anything to fix it (like replace the rotor that has the gouge they put in it)...so i decided im gonna redo the brakes myself...does anyone have any suggestions on systems (rotors, pads, etc.) for a modified stock car? i like to race around everynow and again, but i dont need self cooling calipers or anything...thinking about slotted rotors though, and a rear disc conversion... any suggestions, advice, warnings would be great! thanks!
  21. like most of us, my z came with a dash from hell, hidden away by one of the cheapy dash covers...i wondered how i was going to pay for a new one...i never thought about restoring it!! brilliant idea! thanks for the tips!
  22. dude i definetly agree with rdsk8ter...i think you should go to that guy and threaten lawyers and courts and scare him into taking the easy way out, which is at least reimbursing you for the fees you had to pay! when i got my z, i got home and it died and i couldnt get it started. i called the seller and ruffed him up, and he offered to come help me out or pay for part of whatever repair it needed...he was pretty cool about it...funny it turned out to be my choke cable though
  23. ill look into that...i tried your link but my comp isnt connecting...so ill see if i can find another manufacturer...and ill make sure theres a barrier...what other kinds of applications are that type of material used for, or can i find it commercialy/locally (like alowes or something)?
  24. thats funny! my original idea was to use carpet pad, but i didnt think of attacking from two fronts...low and hi frequency...ill see what i can round up thanks!
