  1. I was under the impression that the R154 could handle over 1K horsepower. Guess I was wrong.

I'm a regular at lextreme.com as well as HybridZ.

R154 is rated around 500hp most them break because of week a thrust washers in the tranny like clifton said it can be fix by chryo"ing" it . But i was saying go with tremec because Thorracing sells a kit with all you need to hook up the TKO man. 5 speed to it its nearly bullet proof .

  2. hey guys im weighing up the pros and cons of buying a vg30dett rebuilding it and turning over 300rwkw? thats about 400hp at the wheels.

however i feel the costs would be around the same to buy a 300 NA rolling shell and slam in a vh45 and make it vh45dett! without rebuilding the motor of course.

id be running moderate boost levels of 10-12psi.

all the fabrication would be done by a professional shop and same with the rebuild if i went down the vg30dett route.

im mainly wondering which engine would be heavier, i can handle if the vh45dett would be around the same weight, im just wondering how much it would affect handling and if it would be lighter to any degree.

He wants to make a vh45DETT in the end with all the plumbing and tranny the VH should be heavier then the already TT VG no ?

  3. Not to bad a idea a I/C sprayer heck i got silly and routed hoses rite in front of my rear tires i told people i needed the watter to spin the tires haa haa . They believed it but all i did was add some bleach watter to get alot of smoke rolling .

Jason blown 383 in progress !!

    Hehehe ! nice :burnout:

  4. I took pictures i dismantled my washer motor and it all came in peices no frog hair wires lol but Im gonna try to derust it and try to make it work again ill make a DIY if it all works in the end .

  5. I think ill go universal because its just to pass the Provincial inspection and its can be usefull for bugs in the summer . I thought i could get one to fit the original spot on the fluid tank but hey at that price it can go to hell . Thanks guys !

Edit : motorsports has it for 98.99 $ but still too expensive .

  6. Yes i meant that but the VG isnt much heavier then an RB26 and its behind the shock towers . Its just that the way I see it is that an SR is a nice powerplant but its really ligth wich is a good thing but a light front end on a Z causes understeer wich isnt cool in circuit racing ... Correct me if imn wrong im far from being an expert im just basing this on what i read around here .

  7. Id like a kit too im considering the VG swap because the RB is pretty expensive and almost the same weight in the end . A VG30DETT is 420 lbs + 120 lbs for tranny i called my local JDM shop and i ask for the weight for shipment and they gave me those numbers . The best part is that the engine sits behind the shock tower and is heavy enought to prevent understeer not like the SR does .

  8. Hi guys i useally read more then write here but i have a trouble with my Z , I got a fresh motor rebuild, new everything , when i drive on the highway drive at about 60-70 mph and when i let off the gas and press it again it feels like something rams in the transmission and then everything gets back to normal ? I think its the Diff or clutch but im not sure . Thank you .

EDIT: forgot to mention its a 280Z 1978
