  1. Just found this link to dimensions. https://www.google.com/search?q=240z+timing+chain+tensioner+wedge&client=ms-android-verizon&prmd=sivn&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwig4cWYnvPMAhVTOVIKHelTATEQ_AUICCgC&biw=360&bih=560#imgrc=M0JtSorCoJd1XM%3A
  2. I used the dimensions from my Haynes manual 10 inches long with an inch and a half at the top. I put it in there and it doesn't seem right
  3. Would you be able to give me rough dimensions for that tool? I can easily make one out of wood
  4. When using a wood wedge when taking the head off does it need to be snug in there? Mine has a little wiggle room
  5. Finally got around to doing a leak down test and survey says bad exhaust valve. Is there a good reference to removing the head? I'm no expert but I wanna try it myself. I have a Haynes manual but is there anything better?
  6. I know it's fuel and not oil. And I put a bore scope in there to check out whats in there and everything looks fine now so whatever was in there must be gone now. Because the new spark plug is getting covered in fuel I was hoping that was just an ignition problem but found no issues with that. I did a compression and number 6 had no compression soo yeah. Fun stuff
  7. will do do that tonight. maybe it could be a bad wire or something in the ignition? seeing as its only that one plug. i just hope nothing is bad internally.
  8. The new plug is not smashed. Just put a bore scope in there and didn't see anything. But Im still getting fuel on the end of plug so what's next valves?
  9. no it idled pretty well (surprisingly) with both sets of plugs and i made sure they were gaped right both times. after. changing the plugs and test driving it i pulled that same plug out and its wet with fuel. it doesnt sound like anything is wrong other than back firing and sputtering. no clunking or anything like that iv attached a photo of the old plug
  10. i attached a photo of the old plug. i just pulled the new one i put it and its definitely fuel
  11. got a 73 240z with the l24 and triple webers. changed the spark plugs last night and found that the number 6 spark plug was smashed in and also very wet. im still trying to get the carbs dialed in and the timing was done by ear. the car runs good at idle but sputters and backfires a lot when you get on it.

  15. So I bought the brake best wheel cylinder rebuild kit from orielys and the inner seal seams the be too big so I can't even get the piston into the cylinder. Anyone else have this problem or am I missing something? Attached is a picture of the seals. Stock one is on the right
  16. so i found an older (unused) glowshift a/f gauge for 2 bucks at the flea market the other day so i couldnt say no to that! only it didnt come with an 02 sensor. its an older one with 3 wires, am i good with a simple universal o2 sensor like this http://www.ecstuning.com/ES1936798/ or do i need something more? also is it even worth my time putting this in? not sure how accurate the older 3 wire ones are, sticker on the back says 2007 so im guessing thats when it was made
  17. update. got her running and driving better than ever before, turns out the firing order was wrong duh!! next thing is are ground control coilovers. whos a good welder?
  18. I got new plugs but haven't had time to do anything yet. thanks for that link too. I've never worked on carbs before though so im still trying to wrap my head around it all if you want to stop by and help me out that would be greatly appreciated. I will pm you
  19. Yes the car drove but never over maybe 15 mph because when I gave it gas it would surge. The carbs are webber 151
  20. 240z l24 w/ tipple webbers when I bought the car the owner had told me it had only been tuned to idle. it would run fine until you gave it gas and it would surge and start spitting out of the carbs. I had a guy come out and look at it and we mussed around with the carbs giving it more fuel but still had the same problem. I pulled the plugs and the were BLACK so that was not the answer. then we moved to the distributor and he messed with that for a bit and now the car wont run at all. If I have the distributer cap on it wont ignite but when I have it off it sounds like it wants to start but just wont and is still spitting out of the carbs. he says I need a new distributor but I want another opinion and am wondering if he just messed something up and I can do something to correct it. I am not an expert so im trying to learn. any advice or help will be appreciated . if anyone is in my area I would love for someone to come out and help and maybe teach me a thing or two. also I will pay if someone comes out thanks!
