  1. I just wanted more info on the product. I asked him several questions about the # of layers , resin, overall quality , weight , some better pics and from the bottom. He was unwilling to answer, so I would stay away from that one.

Yeah, I asked him some questions also and his answers were very vague. Doesnt seem to really care if he sells the parts or not

  2. mainly the arm rests i was thinking because im going with shaved handles i wouldnt need door handles but i can still use them

The armrest should be no problem b/c it can be made off the door and put on if you want it. Also, I made a set of panels a while back and just mounted my original armrest back on the new panel. Follow this link and scroll down about halfway to see what the 280 z panel with armrest and without looked like. http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=105320&page=7

  3. As far as I can tell so far the price would be in the same range as the ones he made for the 280z crowd. (about 230) He does make arm rests for the panels but what other options are you refering too? Like extra speakers? I'm sure that any option could be explored but remember that making a mold takes alot of time to do right and if you want to change something you have to make another mold. Once you change the original you cant just change it back. So lets say you want two speakers for example. Now another set of door panels has to be prepared, speaker mount formed onto surface and covered with glass/resin, finished to perfection then a mold taken from that pc. Only then can you produce useable pcs. from that mold. So what did you have in mind (options?)

  4. Ok, here's the deal. I know someone from this forum who will build custom door panels for our beloved 130's!! What we are looking for is interest from all you ZX owners as well as a commitment.

There was a thread started a while back about 280z interior door panels with speaker provisions and a lot of people seemed interested. Yet, when the time came to actually purchase the item, many people backed out. The price was awesome as well as the quality of craftsmanship. But for some reason the finished product didn’t move very well. I noticed that there was some interest in getting these made for the ZX. I am one who would love to own a set.

If we can gather 10 (at least) people who are interested in having a set of these made and are willing to put up a small deposit for the work and materials involved in the project then we will move ahead. If anyone here is interested please IM me or post here.

  5. actually it is really easy to get it off i havent had a single issue doing it this way and it holds itself great.

as far as the process what im doing it i make a mold of styrofoam(i cant spell so yea sorry if thats wrong) glues to the body.shave it to the shape you want with saws knifes sander etc etc. then cover the whole thing in duct tape. the reason you have to cover it is that the fiberglass will melt it and turn into a big blob of brown nastyness if you dont. next fiberglass a layer or two depending on how big the area is. let it dry or force it dry with a heat gun. then peel it off the remaining section gives you a mold you put your supports on then glass it on

Try painting the foam with ordinary cheap latex paint before you lay the glass down. It works great! Also you can get foam board 2lb or 4lb density very cheap and it wont melt at all. I buy it from a local fiberglass shop in 4x8 sheets 2inches thick for 18 bucks. It shaves alot easier also. you can sand and contour the stuff like bondo, only easier. Its just like the pour foam that you buy in two parts and mix together, only it comes in block form. I believe its called "closed cell foam". I've sprayed thinner directly on the stuff and it had no effect.

  6. Mrkopsho,

Good work, I like the upper storage Idea you go goin there. Sorry to hear some loser ripped you off, do you have an alarm or anything? I'm definately not in a situation where I wouldnt have an alarm of some sort. I have way to much time and money wrapped up in my car to have some "ASK HOLE" tear it up

Oh by the way the panles are done and I'm making the molds this weekend, actually I'll probably be doing that tonight so I can have them ready for next week. For anyone thats interested the price is the same as the last set of panels at 230.00 for a set.

PM me here or give me a call for more info.

I got an alarm the next day. Theres always someone out there who isnt willing to work for what they have:fmad: I stopped working on the Z for a while after that. (broken heart) But now I'm back at it like never before. Just so I'm clear, are you talking zx panels here? If so,get ready to ship me a set. I'll add more to it but it'll save me the time of making new ones myself.

  7. Here are the ones I made for my zx. They had another set of speakers above and a little further back. But someone broke into my car and tore up the whole interior ripping them out. (Along with 1,200.00 worth of other audio equipment!) The crack across the top is from the pressure of them pulling the other speakers off. The color is just tinted primer. The other pic is of a consol from a suburban that I mounted to the roof. I also relocated my power window switches to it.

  8. I'd Love To Have That For My 280zx It Would Look Sooo Bad *** Same With The Head Board

I made a set of custom fiberglass door panels for my 83 zx using he original panels as a starting point. I love the way they look but I keep kicking the damn speaker every time I get in and out of the car!

  9. thanks guys , glad you like it. it was a 9 month project

if you want to see engine and drivetrain pics you can take a peek at my photobucket album www.photobucket.com and just search for coyotegary

Thanks!! I feel really worthless now! I've had my Z (83 zx) since 2000. I do custom paint and body for a living and I'm no where near that far along with mine! I gotta go. I've got work to do on someone elses car!!!:fmad:

  10. I just picked up a 87 z31 turbo, today runs and drives came with extra parts too. EVERY THING except the engine, trans ecu and related FI parts is for sale. I'm posting an ad right now make an offer for what you want.

I know a guy here in florida looking for a good body for his engine. What do you want for the whole car? (minus your already listed items of course)

  11. If you ever need Z31 parts I have a whole car minus the shell and seats, I wanted the Diff. since it's an 87 turbo and the guy was moving, he wouldn't sell me only the Diff. I have the dash, electric struts, rear sub.frame, complete uncut body harness, engine with turbo and uncut harness.

The guy bought a stolen/found car at auction to put it in a 510 but, ended up just restoring the 510 cause it was to clean to butcher up...

Anywayz me like Z31s and wish you all the best in your project.

    Keep us posted.

I need both front fenders (and that rear diff. if you ever wanna sell it?)

  12. They probably do but I'm all the way in california... I'm afraid of what the shipping might cost for 8 quarts of blue metallic.

8 quarts?! Are you painting a whole fleet of cars? I use Diamont (RM Brand) base coats and I can paint a whole full size car (jambs and all) with three quarts. You have to remember that you are giong to reduce the paint so you end up with almost twice the sprayable material than you buy. Most base paints are reduced by anywhere from 2 to 1 thru 1 to1 ratio. If you buy 8 quarts (two gallon) of base and then reduce it 2/1 you end up with three gallons of color! Thats ALOT of paint. Even if they require no reducer as in the case of some lacquer paints, you still shouldnt need two gallons to paint any car.

Heres my 82' 280zx N/A. Stock so far. Installed Suspension technique sway bars (front and rear). This weekend I should be installing my tokico shocks/springs, and a cool air intake from MSA :D This is my first car, Gotta love those S130s

Now there is a first car to remember!! Dont ever let it go man. Simply a clean and beautiful car:mrgreen:

  14. Man I wish I could airbrush! Thats really a cool look I dig the color choices it really pops. From the flash on the paint I asume that is a large flack metalic paint job? I bet it looks even better in the sun. Nice job.

There are about 6 different steps to this spray job. Starting with the sealer coat then the black (three coats),then the flames are done in white and transparent white. After wich you highlight the flames with whatever color candy you want the flames to be. (I chose blue but you can make them any color.) Then you put a couple of coats of the blue candy over the whole thing, let it tack up and start in with the clear. Start to finish took about three hours, not including prep. If you have about $500.00 and some paitience you can learn to air brush pretty easily. Thanks for the compliment on the car. here are some more pics of the car after some clear was applied. I included one of me replacing the heater core and evaporator just to show how well I know my car...lol Almost forgot. There is also two coats of blue metal flake added in with the candy coats!

  15. OK, here's mine. I just did the paint this past christmas. I've owned it since 2000. I just couldnt find time to get the paint done because I was to busy painting everyone elses car! I'm making time now .

I'm building a shop at my house right now and the first car I'm doing is my 130. It's an 83 with no real engine mods (YET) I've been making a one off body kit for it piece by piece for a long time now so it's time to put it on. I'm making my own because I havn't seen a body kit for the 130 that does it any justice. I'm sure all you 130 owners know what I mean. I have more pics but they need to be resized and its late so I'll put some more up tomorrow. Hope you all like it.

  16. I'll add my two cents.

My 83 280ZX(The bumpers are from an early model and were on the car when I got, but it is an 83.) Not much special about but I love it. It's got KYB struts and Eibach springs. 14"x 7" A.R.E's, custom 2.5" exhaust, Erebuni Air dam and a cheapo intake. That's about it for now, but it runs strong, the A/C works now, and It will be turbo eventually.

Sorry to quote the whole thing with pictures and all but I cant figure out how to do a (partial quote). Any help on that would be great! I was wondering if those are 300 zx fenders and older 280 z headlight buckets?

  17. S13/S14 coilovers can be fairly esasily modified for duty in the 280ZX. thats the route Im taking. Rears are a bolt in, except for the top mount. SX has 2 bolts, ZX has 3. easily fixed with a drill and a few studs.

fronts will be a bit trickier, but not really. take your old front strut tube, cutt it off, weld on a threaded pipe that the SX coilover will thread into and viola, done and done.

I just got my S14 stuff in the mail and Ill have pics up soon.

Any chance I could pay you to build me a set? lol Not joking though. I just dont have the time to do it myself.

  18. One thing I can tell you for sure is that all 928 parts are VERY expensive. I have been helping a friend repair a 928s for the last two yrs and my advice is only buy it if you plan on keeping it for yourself. If you plan on repairing and then reselling for profit the parts alone will cost more than you can get out of it. If you do decide to buy it I have alot of used and new parts suppliers that I've found and will share the info. Another thing is a 928 is not a daily driver. Not unless you just have more money than you know what to do with. They always have little funnny electric problems. On the up side when they are running right,DAMN WHAT A RIDE!
