  1. Say what you want but Rhinolining does not belong on a Z car..anywhere at all ..you wanna use Rhino..buy a truck..that is one of the most disgraceful things I have ever seen done to a Z car..totally took it out of character Hybird or not..it just does not belong on a sports car..sorry..but thats just my opinion.

I have to disagree there. This site is all about being custom. What he did was seal and protect his engine bay as well as make it easier to keep clean. Like someone else here said before, not everyone thinks that a V8 belongs in a z but there are those out there that do. I like my dependable 6 cyl. but thats not for everyone. If you find something that works for you and your happy with it then kudos to you!!

  2. Glad to hear you put the extra paint down. That's always a good idea around areas that sag or run but I didnt know you did it so I figured you'd be sure to break thru.

When you go for the base clear job just remember the scratches wont get covered by the paint like a single stage. Depending on what paint you use even 320-400 scratches could show. I use Diamaont which is a R.M. product and its a polyester base coat so if you use anything rougher than 600 wet you'll see scratches. As far as the Clear goes, it should spray down very much like the single stage you already have experience with. Just spray it down lightly and dont worry about it being to "dry" If you put enough coats on you'll be ok. Its alot easier to cut down rough areas than runs as you probably already figured out. If you have any questions, feel free...

  3. The thing that I think makes the S130 less desirable, mostly, is the rear suspension.

I had one and Im telling you the way that thing felt when you cornered hard, made you feel like you could reach out of your window and touch the arse of the car.

Aside from that I love the S130.

They have thier problems with out a doubt but thats why we have this woderful site...Upgrade time!!:2thumbs: My buudies zx can out corner my 944 porsche and thats no small feat!

  4. Depending on the pressure and distance on your last coat Rino can be sprayed very smooth or very heavy textured. All you have to do is tell the place doing the work what texture your look'n for. And as for sanding it, Forget about it unless you plan on using a hi speed grinder and alot of pads. True Rino is like just like a thick rubber. It doesn't ever get all the way hard like paint so it doesnt chip or crack. Tring to sand it would be like try'n to sand your tire. The job is awsome BTW.. Oh, they also offer a wide color range in Rino so you could paint the engine bay to match pretty close to the color you plan on painting the car. The stuff is also great for keeping out road noise if you spray it on the interior floors and door panels or anywhere vibration and noise is a problem.

  5. I've found that all the info in the world will only do good if you have time with your spray equipment. You can tell a guy how to paint and prep a car till your blue in the face but untill he pulls the trigger its all just book smarts. Practice with your gun on test panels, old junkers, anything before you try to paint your car. Every paint line has its own attitude for lack of a better word. polyesters, urethanes, acrylics, lacquers all have spray different and have different mix ratios so there is only one way to learn and that’s to practice.

  6. I'm DREADING body work on my car.... :|

Why dont you PM me since you live in florida and I'll do the body for you!! I love Z's and I have a top notch facility in Ocala. I think your probably only an hr away or so. I'm alway happy to help out a fellow Z enthusiast so dont worry about me try'n to rape you on the price.

  7. Ive cut and buffed so many cars I can't even count them and if there is one thing I can tell you about buffing on a single stage paint job it's to make sure you have some extra color left. I saw some of the runs and your gonna have one hell of a time try'n to sand those out without cutting all the way thru the surounding area. Dont use your hand!!!!! Sand with a block. Use very light pressure. The object is going to be to let the sand paper just hit the high spot with out hitting around it. I dont even use single stage any more for several reasons but since you already did the job I can tell you how the "old timers do it". Right now you have a good "base" on the car so what we used to do is wet sand the entire car out. Use a block over the runs to get them flat. Then use your hand to do the rest. I would use 400 or 320 wet. Then retape and shoot the outside of the car again but this time you do what is I call a piss coat. You over reduce you paint by 1/2 more than called for. So if the paint mix ratio is 4 to 1, you make it 4 to 1-1/2. Then as you paint, only put just enough paint to make it flow out. Kind of like if you are putting down clear. You only want enough to make the surface look wet and slick. If you broke thru your white while you were wet sanding in some spots you should go over them first with your normally reduced paint just in those spots to cover them and then do the rest of the car with the over reduced paint. Three coats should do it. Remember to let it dry at least 15 min before each coat. Longer if its below 75 outside. If you can do this without runs, all you'll need to do is hit any dirt spots with a 1000-1500 grit wet paper and lightly buff.

I know this sounds like alot of work but as I said before. I have buffed ALOT of cars and from the runs I saw I'd be very suprised if you could sand out those without breaking thru. BTW The color is very nice! Makes me want to change mine now.. Good luck.

  8. Anyone have a link to where I can buy these adapters? I'v found some places that say they have adapters that allow the use of honda rims with a +38 to +40 offset but I dont want to go with the 7.5 in wide. I want something a little wider. Say 9 or more:twisted: ..I know they will stick out but I'm building a kit so it wont matter. I've seen some honawheels that go up that high but dont know what size adapter is needed to make up the difference. I mean if a 1.5 inch adapter allows offsets as much as +40 then if I wanted a wheel with a +45 offset shouldn't I be able to order a an adapter that is 5 mils bigger than 1.5 or is that not how it works?

  9. I have found a couple of places on line that make adapters for z's that allow the use of many late modle hona civic rims but they say the adapters are only good for wheels that have a +38 to 40 offset. I want to use a tire that has a larger offset and a wider rim than the standard 7-7.5. I'd like to use a 9 or 10 if possible. The tire sticking out past the wheel well is what I'm looking for b/c I'm building a one off wide body kit that will extend the wheel wells out to the tire when complete. So does anyone know of a place that will make me custom adapters or someone who already makes adapters for a larger width wheel? The ones I've seen are 1.5 inches and they state the center bore is cut to fit the zx so I'm guessing that the bore size isn't a standard size on adapters. This is my first time putting aftermarket wheels on my ride so any info would be great.. Thanks
