  1. Hi Guys, Just to let you know that I am currently RTFM. I begin to understand what needs to be done (I bought my fisrt resistors!). I will get back to you when I make some progress just in case that helps others. Cheers
  2. Hello, I am looking to upgrade my setup from MS2 V3 Fuel only to MS2 V3 Fuel and Spark. Current setup is (running strong for 8 years now) : MS2 V3board. Map sensor, 240SX TPS (not currently used but connected/available) AEM Wideband Fuel only L28, N/A, Ported and polished head, Turbo injectors, stage 1 Isky cam, walbro. Complete inox Header with 3 inches exhaust system. Triggered from the coil and using the standard distributor for spark. I would like to upgrade my setup and have MS2 control also Spark. This is what I have gathered to achieve this goal : 36-1 trigger wheel fitted to crank pulley 3 wires Hall sensor DIS6-02 igniter from a 300ZX (or similar) Ford coil on plugs (DG-508) My question is : what needs to be done to my MS2 ECU in order to upgrade it to be able to control spark while using a 36-1 trigger wheel (wasted spark). The MS ECU was purchased built to order with a fuel only setup in mind, so the components to control spark would need to be added (hardware, firmware upgrade?). Any pointers, good write-up? Thanks Cheers Simon
  3. Hello, Thanks for the drawing I would have never though about wiring it that way. I have one concern though, it seems that EDIS is grounding the coils. Isn't the 300ZX igniter sending +12V instead? Thanks Cheers Simon
  4. Hello, I have gathered some parts to build my wasted COP ignition. But could you tell me how you wired all this exactly? The BMW COP were too heavy and bulky (old design with 3 wires) so I got some 2 wires COP. I am not sure about how to wire the COP (+12V, ground...)? There is no permanent 12V with these like with the BMW COP which have permanent 12V, Ground and Trigger. Can you describe how they are connected to the Nissan igniter? Did you use a DIS6-02 from a 300ZX? I made a little drawing, is that correct? Thanks Cheers
  5. Hello, That's really cool. Could you give me a list of parts that are required to setup something like this? I am currently running MS fuel only and I want to upgrade to something similar to your setup. If I can avoid using a 36-1 wheel on the crank pulley and use the distributor as my trigger that would be nice. I guess I need a 280ZXT distributor because the trigger wheel will not fit correctly in my 280Z dizzy. It seems to be much bigger than the ZXT dizzy, it looks like it is 70mm diam. compared to the 54mm. Would COP from 6 cylinder BMWcompatible with this kind of setup, it is easier to get in Europe than Ford. One more thing, what did you exactly do to swap the dizzy? Did you drop the oil pump or did you just swap the bottom end of the dizzy? Let me know Thanks
  6. Hello, Thanks for keeping this thread alive and for all the information you gave. I will try your settings newt week and see if it gets better.
  7. Hi Guys, Thanks for the replies. I knew I would have to play with the AE but I cannot get it right for the moment. When I blip the throttle it is still going lean for half a second and then goes to super rich because of my AE! I am currently trying with 100% TPS. My TPS is getting erratic readings sometimes so I put the TPS threshold to 200 to avoid shooting rich without touching the pedal. My grounds look good to me but there may be room for improvement. Anyway if someone has some starting points for AE I would gladly try them. I am using thelatest version of TunerStudio Thanks Cheers
  8. Hi guys, I have a MS2 V3board. Map sensor, 240SX TPS (not currently used but connected) AEM Wideband fuel only L28, N/A, Ported and polished head, Turbo injectors, stage 1 Isky cam, walbro. Complete inox Header with 3 inches exhaust system. I have 2 issues I would like to share with you. 1/ The first one is a light hesitation / stumble when I start from a standing point, after a trafic light for example. When I press lightly the gas pedal, the engine will stumble and then act normal. The AEM will read a lean condition for a second. (If I floor the pedal I will also get the same problem) My idle is pretty rich and goes between 13.5 - 14 Timing is OK and was modified (advanced or retarded) without effect on this particular problem. Should I use TPS enrichment? If yes, what kind of settings? 2/ When I bring the 3rd gear to 5000rpm (for example) and then release completely the gas pedal and coast (keeping the clutch engaged) MS will cut the fuel injection (which is normal). My problem is if I stay in 3rd gear, let the RPM go down to 2500 and give it a little gas again then I will shoot to lean and the engine will hesitate for a couple of seconds and then back to normal. Is this coming from the fact that the MAP sensor is getting the information with some lag in certain condition or that the information it receives is not relevant? What should I do to correct this behaviour? Can I use the TPS information to prevent this from happening? Thanks Cheers Simon
  9. Hi Guys, Here is my setup: Ported and polished N42 head with stage 1 Isky cam, on stock rebuilt block (1978 280Z) Stock injectors 240SX TPS MS2 V3 board (ExtraEFI), TunerStudioMS software v1.0004, FUEL Only. Aftermarket FPR: 42 PSI AEM Wideband gauge and bosch sensor. Custom inox header and complete exhaust (3 inches) The car is currently up and running (daily driver) I am using the VE Analyze Live to correct my Fuel VE Table in TunerStudio. Could I have your comments on my target AFR map. Are there any crazy things I should correct? My car is running pretty good once it reaches operating temp. I get some lean pops out of the exhaust when I decelerate but nothing too loud (afr between 13.5 and 14 when it pops) I am not using any TPS enrichment. Thanks for your time. 10. Hello Everyone, Here is my current setup Ported and polished N42 head with stage 1 Isky cam, on stock rebuilt block (1978 280Z) Stock injectors 240SX TPS MS2 V3 board (ExtraEFI), TunerStudioMS software v1.0004, FUEL Only. Aftermarket FPR: 42 PSI AEM Wideband gauge and bosch sensor. Custom inox header and complete exhaust (3 inches) image 1 image 2 For info the car was running OK with the stock ECU (a bit rich for sure). Now for the story I decided to install MS using the stock wiring loom. It went OK except for the Coil (-) signal and fuel pump relay. After a few tries, I decided to give up on these two and wire them directly. I get all the signals OK, ie: Water temp; Air temp, coil, AFR, rpm, TPS (calibrated). Cold start valve and cold start injector disconnected, I still need to remove and replace the AFM. I managed to start the car with the current map (attached) but it runs rich and smell gas a lot. It will idle for a minute and die, unstable idling (up and down, up and down...) If I give it a bit of gas, it will sputter. I never reached operating temp. My problem is I live with close neighbors and playing around is a bit difficult (noise and smell...) I need to be able to drive it just for 1 mile and find an empty place where I can test things around. So if any of you has a map that could fit. I already tried almost all the setups in the EMS FAQ with no real luck. I know I need to learn a lot but I also need to be able to drive it for just one mile! Thanks Cheers Simon My_280Z.zip
  11. Hello, My car will come out of the paint booth in a few weeks. I would like to buy 2 new 280Z fender emblems along with 2 roofs emblems. I know I can get these for 150-200USD, just looking in case someone has these left on a shelf for a bit cheaper. Thanks Cheers Simon
  12. Hello there, I am looking for a TPS to replace my stock 280Z TPS and compatible with MS. Thanks Cheers Simon
  13. You are saying that I should look for something else than a 240SX throttle body? You are correct it's a stock 280Z TPS. Since I am getting more fuel, I thought the 240SX Throttle body was the way to go to get more air? Thanks
