I use a Dana 44 out of an XJ12 Jag 3.30 LSD in a Z31

As usual, you guys just amaze me. The information pool is unbelievable. I think the staubli unites are what I need, although they are pretty costly. But then the cost of weather stripping for a Z31 is every bit as outragous. Actually even more so if you consider the amount of demand for the stripping.

Fifteen double over?
jt
KTA600 Cummins, with a "4" button (fuel pump return pressure mod) It made about 700hp
5spd overdrive main box,
4spd overdrive brownie so it was a true "double over"
It would pass anything but a fuel stop

Thanks John, that is just what I am looking for.

Does anyone know if there is any kind of quick connect brake line fittings? I'm finally getting close to fitting the body onto the chassis. I should be able to lift it on and off disconnecting six mount bolts, a couple of cables, the fuel line and one major electrical plug for the front chassis electrical. The only major problem is unhooking the brake lines from the master cylinders without having to bleed the system when the body is put back in place. I know hydraulic lines can be unhooked with a fitting that seals both lines, but I have no idea where to find them for 1/4" lines. Any help will be really apreciated.
Thanx,
Joe

The best speed I managed was 108 in '78 Kenworth in 1985. Verified by a nice man in a Wyoming highway patrol car. Don't even ask how much that little bit of stupidity cost.

I don't know if it is soul, but my car certainly has periods of having a really bad attitude.

Is this the stuff that they used on Billy Gibbons' wifes caddy?

That is one ugly car, but you gotta admire the craftsmanship. Just seems a shame to put that much work into a project and have it come out looking like that. He should have talked to someone who had some taste.

From all I have read on here, the r200 rear end will handle your swap unless you get extreme with the 455. I had the stock rearend in my Z31 sbc, and it never gave me any problems. The rear suspension would squat more than I cared for though. This is just my opinion, and, of course now I'm running a Dana 44.

No wonder the plate is hidden.

When I lived in Tulsa, one of the guys I worked with was bitten by a brown recluse spider. They ended up having to amputate his leg. The worst thing I ever got was stung by a centipede. I really liked Oklahoma but it seemed that all the animals and insects are out to get you. Its much nicer here, all we have to worry about are a few snakes, and the occasional bear or mountain lion.

Have a good time, its something y ou'll never froget. I haven't been since the 50th anniversary in 1990. Too many motorhomes for me I guess.

I would guess that the silver color in the spare tire well is probably just from the tire scuffing.

OK, I'll generalise too. Sports cars are traditionally 2-seaters and 2+2s are GTs. 2-seater Zs are therefore sports cars, regardless of weight and the heavier, fatter 2+2 Zs are GTs. Is a 4-seater Porsche a sports car or a GT? There's a bit more to consider, though. Suspension set-up, power to weight ratio, etc, but I stick to my simplistic seat count as being the chief criterion.
My 2-seater 200ZR weighs about 1200kg and has around 370hp at the wheels. This is a better power:weight ratio than a Ferrari F355 Challenge which weighs 1444kg and has 380hp at the flywheel.
If weight was the criterion for a sports car you'd have to rule out a lot of 2-seaters supercars. What does the Bugatti Veyron weigh? 1998kg with 987hp. I wouldn't call it a GT, though.
Perhaps I didn't make myself clear, or perhapsI used a wrong analogy. What I meant was not specific differences. What I meant was that the Z31 and the 928 are both larger and more luxurious designs and were aimed at a different market than the 911 and earlier Zs. That is just my opinion.
As for the bugatti, I wouldn't want to comment. if I had that much mo9ney to spare, I'd be out looking for a nice used 917-30, and go nostalgia racing!

The Z31 is heaver than the earlier Zs. The Z31 is a Gran Touring car while 240s are a sports car. Kind of like comparing a 928 Porsche to a 911. (Just my two Franlklin Mint knock off cents)

Neat pic.

Here is what I did but the car is still in a bunch of pieces so It hasn't been weighed. I'll prob gain most of the weight back because that rear end is heavy! The headlight mechinisms weigh about 25lbs, the bumpers can be removed from under the covers and no one will ever know they're gone except the person in the car when it hits that tree. You can remove a lot of the bracing from the hood. Losing the jack and the fiber box that it's in will help too. Dump the power antenae. IO striped about 5lbs of redundant wiring harnes (Not recomemded MAJOR PITA!!!!) And you could cut out the steel floor and firewall and replace them with aluminium. Of course that will weaken the car, so do this. Sorry these aren't current pics of the chassis but I've been doing other things.

Perfect Circle rings have been around forever. They were a good product when I used to use them, though that was quite a while back.

All that work and he still ends up with a Honda Motorscooter. Its gonna be wierd tiurning right without the engine hitting the pavement.

It could use an engine with more spark plugs though. I like it, but what can you expect form me. I'm not really a "purest".
