  1. Yeah, thats the car. Land speed cars have funny looking tire's lol
  2. Top secret holds the land speed record for something cant remember what it was. But they took a 3S-GTE engine and but it in a supra and were able to break 249mph or something like that. It has been awhile since I last saw the article.
  3. Do you know what kinda work the engine had done to it?
  4. I was thinking if I used the 3S-GTE I would try and use the driveline from the celica alltrac/GT-4 and make it AWD. Dont know if it would work or not but if so that would be real nice. If not I would probably just go with a 1JZ or 2JZ or possibly try the 4G63 swap...but that might be to much trubble than its worth?(?)Maybe ill just have to be a trailblazer and be the first to do the swap I want but it would be nice to do a swap which some one else has done already just to have some steps to follow.
  5. The engine you have is not the 4G63 engine we have. Most 4G63 engines could produce 300rwhp, or AWHP in some cases , very easily with just a few simple mods. But does anyone know anything about swaping a 3S-GTE engine into a Z? Or has a 4g63 swap ever been done before?
  6. I wouldnt rule out V8's most of them are just heavier than the smaller engines that make the same power. There are a few toyota V8's that ive thought about but it still doesnt seem as promising as one of the smaller ones. Does any one have any info on swaping the 3S-GTE? Has it been done before? So far thats the engine I would chose I think. But now with all this talk of 4G63's and everything I kinda wanna take the engine outa my talon and put it in a Z
  7. The 4G63 is a very strong motor. I have one in my talon Im planning on building a street-able rally car out of it at some point but would like to do the Z first because it would be faster and easier to do. But that would be a wicked little swap. So far I think I like the sound of the 3SGTE engine the best and the SR20DET just because its a nissan engine and it would be cool to keep the Z in the nissan blood line.
  8. I live in a HUGE state, texas, there are quit a few different kinds of tracks around. If I were to build this car it wouldnt be built for just one kind of track or one preticular track. it would be street legal and do most of its driving on the streets probably at first(driving to and from the track that is ;)hehe ) Im not looking for f1 speed or handling, i'm to young to die lol. Maybe one day but not thats a whole nother ballpark from roadracing. Though its more or less the same thing but a f1 car is just crazy and not even really a car But equaly as cool in its own rightown right.
  9. To clear up my last post, the 3SGTE and SR20DET would be my choices for 4cyl. swaps. But it seems a 4cyl. engine would be best for a roadracing application. The 4G63/4 swap sounds very interesting. IMHO if you could swap out the AWD drivetrain from a GSX/VR4/TSi and put it in a Z that would nice. If you cant tell im a AWD fan
  10. What would be the best engine, in your opinion, to swap into a 240Z for a roadrace application? Were not talking unlimited funds or anything so nothing to hard core. And im not talking about a dinky Auto-x car, Im talking about straight up roadracing, GT2 style and so on. In short, a car that makes more than 290rwhp. My best engines would be, 7MGTE, 1JZ/2JZ, or an RB engine maybe SR20DET. Ive also thought about some toyota V8's with aftermarket turbos on them but dont know if they woul weigh to much for a practical roadrace car. So whats yall input? Agree on these engines? Any you would like to add? How easy are the swaps with these engines?
  11. I would build the car first then see what class I could race in. Im just wanting to know what you would think would make the best roadrace engine in a Z, not cheapest. I also said 290rwho would NOT be enough So that rules out the ZX motor. Im also talking about swap that you guys know have been done and are do-able. Any one seen the 3SGTE swap in a 240? You might be able to fit the alltrac drivetrain in the 240 and have an AWD Z as well... Thats something to think about.
  12. Ive never thought about swaping the 3SGTE but that is a damn strong engine! Has it been done? One of my dream project cars would be a MR2 with a celica Alltrac drivetrain. How awesome would a AWD MR2 be? The 3SGTE would be a damn good engine to swap in there if it would be done easily enough...
  13. That thought crossed my mind but I figured that would make a more suitable swap for a 1G RX-7...
  14. Or a 1JZ since im a old school fan and was going to put one in my MKIII supra when I still had it. Just not many parts availible for it in the states.
  15. Im not looking to do the swap. Would involve more knowldge than I have at this point in time in fabricating stuff and what not. How easily does the SR20DET fit in there? I do want to build a 240 roadrace car and have been having a hard tome deciding what would be the best option. Ive been thinking a lot about the 2JZ but the SR20 might be cheaper and easier. But I want mad power with ease, could this engine handle that or would 400-500hp (or more...*evil grin*) be a lot of stress on it?
  16. Who said anything about the WRX being FWD? It would be AWD of course. Not saying that makes it easier...probably harder, but just thought I would clear that up.
  17. Anyone ever think of doing a swap with the WRX motor and drivetrain? Think it could be done?
  18. There is more to it than just that. The heads are totaly different on the LS6. According to the Pace Performance catalog the differance is this: "This cylinder head debuted on the 2001 LS6 engine. It offers the same overall package configuration as the LS1 cylinder heads. However, the combustion chamber has been downsized approximately 3CC for more compression. Also, the exhaust port has been redesigned and features a raised floor and smaller port volume. This head is characterized by a "D" shaped exhaust opening at the exhaust flange." Where in texas are you from? Check out a site called TXSR.org its for texas racers, most of the people on the site race at the track.
  19. Found one on ebay for $4,000. Any one know anything about swaping one of these bad boys in the Z?
  20. LT6, LS6, same thing So where can I find one of these and how much do they cost?
  21. Has anyone done a LS6/Z06 engine swap in their Z? Would it be an easy swap? How much do those engines go for? Would it be cheaper to build a LT1 into a LS6? I am wanting to build a real quick/fast roadrace car and am having trubble deciding what engine would be best to use. Ive been toying with the idea of using a 2JZ supra TT motor or possibly if there was a way to use a Impreza wrx engine and drivetrain and have a AWD Z. I dont want the same old V8 swap that ever one else does... What would be your ideas for a bad ass, orginal, not to hard to install, engine for a early 70's Z most likely a 240?
  22. LT6=Z06 motor. Or at least I believe its called the LT6. I am up for a challenge, how dare you sujest such a under powered engine at the 280zx engine Just playin but that engine wont cut it for what I want to do.
