  1. I traded my cousin my turbocharger. I haven't decided whether I'll take his phone for it, or possibly a BOV.

     

    Anyways, here's the deal. We are using the turbocharger to turbo his Ford Bronco. He's done this before so it's nothing new, but there's a twist. We are setting up the turbo as a self-supporting turbo. No exhaust will be used.

     

    The intake will be hooked up to the compressor inlet, as normal. The compressor discharge will have a U-bend tube connecting it back to the turbine exhaust inlet. The turbine exhaust outlet will go into the engine. We're hoping the suction of the engine will start to spool the turbo, and the air passing the turbine will then begin helping the turbo to spool faster.

     

    We tried this theory out by sucking the turbine exhaust outlet with a shop-vac. It began to spin then started spooling up off itself, so we think this will work.

     

     

    I'll update with results and pics of the completed setup.

  2. I'd like to paint my chrome trim black. I know some others on here have done this. I was wondering what paint I should use for this, what paint will stick and stay on? I don't want it chipping off and such.

     

    What paint (type/brand) did you guys find success with?

  3. If you turbocharge an NA L28 out of a (let's say '80) 280zx, will it produce more power than a '80 l28et? If both engines are stock.

     

    I have seen hp ratings for the l28et at about 186, and the NA at near 170. It would make sense to me that running the stock 7psi on an NA would make more than 17hp. Right?

     

    Just a thought while I'm searching for an engine. I have searched this a couple times, but didn't find much. Maybe it's a dumb question, but I was just wondering.
