I found an old race motor and was able to talk the owner into letting me take it off his hands. It was originally bought from Coast Corvette in Anaheim. The valve cover is stamped trident engineering Owner said that when he raced it, it was a "Cobra Killer" and would just smoke the tires on street tires so its only for racing. When he got the motor it has a dry sump oil pan on it. (I have the pan now, dont really need it so if anyone needs it, let me know) There was no carb or intake so he had triple webers 40's custom built for the motor by a race shop in CA. It has a Cannon manifold. He put ARP headers on it and a 2 inch straight pipe to a monza exhaust. The motor has a N42 block with E88 head that are race prepped by Solvers porting S.V. It supposedly has Carillo rods. He said that he was able to run it on street gas so hopefully the compression isn't too high. He said that he blew a ring because the valves were adjusted too tight. That is all the info that I have from the previous owner. Here are some pics of how I found it.

I'm now looking for 3 rebuild kits for the 40 dcoe 151. I found an old race motor with them on it. I also am going to need an exhaust manifold gasket for an E88 head going to a set of headers. I also will need a head gasket for E88 race head to a N42 block.

Yes I'm looking at building a replica. Not a full on race car, but similar motor and tranny, paint scheme, and exhaust. I have 15x10.5 wheels that I'm going to use. Probably add a racing seat of some sort.

Does anyone know where I can get the specs on a BSR 280z racing engine? Did they all use the Preston 5-speed Dog Ring Tranny? Did they use triple webers? I am mostly interested in the 1978 280z models. I have searched for the last 3 hours and can't find any information. I have watched a bunch of videos and read that the race motor was listed at 240+ hp, but that seems pretty low based on what I have seen. Thanks for your help.

It's a steep approach angle. I teetertop on 3 tires. Have to have speed or back tire gets stuck up in the air and spins. No lsd for me yet.

This could be an issue for me since when I drive into my parking garage, I go up a steep hill and I have my tires come off the ground. Will this affect my springs?

Should have everything here on Wednesday

I'd prefer the 45's but am open to suggestions.

I have a 78 280z. It has a rebuilt L28 with dual round top su carbs. f54 block so flat top pistons w/ p79 head and cam was reground to a stage 3 equivalent less than 4,000 miles. new oil pump and water pump new alternator lightened flywheel. I have found a set of 40dcoe151 webers. Would the 40 be enough to see a major improvement or do I need 45 or 50?

I ended up getting these and new bump steer pacers. http://www.ebay.com/itm/TOKICO-HP-SERIES-SHOCKS-SPRINGS-COMBO-75-76-77-78-DATSUN-260Z-280Z-/251584891211?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&fits=Model%3A280Z&hash=item3a93a0c94b&vxp=mtr I'll post before and after pics when I get them on.

I am looking to upgrade the cut springs and blown shocks that are on my 280z. It is too low right now as it rubs terribly on the flares and scrapes on everything. I will be driving the car 80% as a daily drivers, and once a month at autocross. I am looking at getting the tokico hp series shocks and springs. This should raise my ride height about an inch, but still be 1 inch lower than stock. For $600 it seems like a good deal vs going with the eibach lowering springs and getting a decent shock as well. The other option is getting coilovers, but I really dont ever see myself taking the time to adjust them once they are on. I want something simple as I will be driving my car to the track for autocross days.

Will these shocks/springs work on my 280?

Thanks! I am thinking about just gettng a new set for the 280z. I want to be lower than stock, but a little higher than I am now. Thinking about getting the Eibach springs and not sure what shocks to get. I don't really need them to be adjustable, just driving streets and occasional auto-x -
I recently purchased a 78 280z and the PO cut the springs to lower it. It's 2 inches lower in the front and 1 1/4 lower in the back. It rides like a tank now, and the streets in Spokane suck. On smooth pavement its a dream, anywhere else and its almost undrivable. It also has Atara racing wheels and flares and they rub all the time. I saw this add for Tokico HP shocks and Eiback Pro springs. It also has energy suspension kit. They are for a 72 240z. Will they work on my 280? http://forums.hybridz.org/topic/117780-all-nib-tokico-hp-shocks-eibach-springs-poly-bushings/
