    Help! wiring question.

    Hi, Zfan

    I just did the pain in the rs 12 fuse box and yes, what a pain.

    Mine is a 72 and the blue and red main from switch to panel and the black and white was the ignition and black and yellow the starter. I thingk the white and red is the acc.

    I worked on this for about two weeks.

    Help,

    What would cause the mod to go bad?

    I killed the first mod when I did not have a

    ground cable hooked up.

    Last night I was running the engine and the all of a sudden it stopped, I thought I ran out of gas, so I shut everything off and went into the house and called it a night.

    Well today after work I went to the garage

    put gas in the car and tried to start, turned over but not start.

    I check the spark and had none at the plug, so I'm guessing it is another mod. These things are not cheap 40 bucks a shot.

    Could it be something else? Is there away to check the mod to see if it is good or not?

    Any help would be great, mybe I'm over looking something, but why would it run and then not.

    I just dont know, still learning @40dy.

    Ground the engine

    Hay all,

    I just reinstalled my engine into the car, again. I'm now able to swap the engine in a 1 hours.

    Went to start the car and it would not start, thought the battery was low so I swaped out batteries and tried again still no start, it turned over great, then I noticed smoke. Looked under car and noticed that my shifter cable was melted icon_sad.gif

     

    It was a little costly this time, I forgot to put a ground strap from engine to frame and fried my shifter cable and my HEI mod.

    My shifter cable melted to the body it was being used as the ground OOPs.

     

    This will not happen again, learn from ones mistakes. Now I have to buy another shifter cable, I had an extra mod, lucky me.

    Just thought I would share my mistake just so nobody does this.

    Check everything over before starting.

     

    Update on the car: Wiring done, gas line done, brake line almost done, interior done, painting almost done, touch up.

    Soon go zoom.

    Fuel lines

    This my be a bit silly but, what does one think about putting the fuel line inside of the cockpit, down the center? Bulkhead fitting at the rear and bulkhead fitting at the firewall? Is this not good?

    As long as I have good tight fitting and no leaks, would this be ok?

    Trying to make a clean installation, almost nothing on firewall.

    How low can you go

    in Brakes, Wheels, Suspension and Chassis

    Hay all, doing the exhaust thing.

    Need to no how low can I go, meaning

    is there a legal distance I need between the ground and the exhaust?

    The original exhaust on the V8 was 2" to a way then 2 1/2" to the muff. JTR setup.

    Now I have Side pipes and have about 3" of clearance. Is this to low?

    I might be able to get 4 to 41/2" at the most.

    Any input would be great

    AN fittings

    I quick one, does the AN fittings work on braided line and alum lines.

    Are they all compression -style fittings?

    I have alum line just want to make sure I order the correct AN fittings.

     

    Any help would be great.

    Fuel lines

    I just got my 1/2 alum fuel line from summit now after reading the posts maybe I should have gone with 3/8.

    Another question is where is everyone running the lines?

    Same location as old or new location?

    Any info on location would be great.

    I'm running 355hp ZZ4 motor.

    What kind of paint

    Day day all,

     

    Car is painted, base coat clear coat. Gallon of clear and lots of sanding.

    At first it looked orange then the next day

    it was red.

    Not much stuff in the paint in fact very little.

    Over all very happy, still doing mods on car so will be doing spot painting here and there.

    I'm going to be running tubing through one end and cutting it off on the other, only because I have no windows.

     

    My car is now Red and is it bright OOps, maybe yellow might have been a better choice, oh well, I can always change it .

     

    I now have matching mix match car and bike of the same color.

     

    I just hope when I'm all done, the wife will let me drive it . Safety is every thing to me for my wife will be with me or she will be driving.

    What kind of paint

    Just wondering what kind of paint should be used.

    Going to buy paint today and looking for advise.

    Will be painting in my garage with the temp about 55 to 60. will have heat lamps.

     

    laquar / clear coat or enamel?

     

    Please advise as soon as it is painted the ZZ4 engine goes in smile.gif

     

    I need to hear this engine.

     

    Color Red is what I'm going

     

    Shaved door handles, no top, mini hatch

    JTR book has all my answers.

    I guess I should have looked at it last week.

    Forgot about all the info in the book.

    geat book, it is a must.

     

    I just got so excited about the new motor and painting the car, I over looked the book.

     

    Sometimes the web is easier and i get lazy.
