  1. Title says it all. Looking for some not warped rotors for a 73' 240 thanks
  2. I hae gotten frustrated trying to find a correct gasket and not being able to use this one. After talking with the local machine shop, I set the Felpro on the oil pan and it fits like it should, no gaps. Same when placing it on the block. So I bolted the pan on with the two front bolts and guess what? It snugged up perfectly and IS the correct gasket for this oil pan/block/timing cover combo.
  3. damn I was afraid of that, hate using the non 1 piece gaskets. Thanks for the reply!
  4. I am in the middle of assembling a small chevy and having an issue with the oil pan/ gasket fit. I am using the felpro one piece rubber 34510T gasket that has dipstick provisons on both sides and a thick front seal. The timing cover is a Mr gasket chrome that came with a thick and thin front seal. The oil pan is a Mr gasket for 80-85 motors with the dipstick on the right (passenger) side. Now the problem is the gap from the oil pan to the gasket/block. Its like 1/8 inch on each side (front of the motor). Included are a couple pics. This distance seems excessive to me, I dont want to try and squish the gasket that far. Do any of you have experience with felpro gaskets and how muych "crush" they might have? I cannot find another 1 piece rubber gasket with the dipstick on the passenger side. So what are your ideas of solving this? Thanks for reading this book!
  5. Thanks guys, I wish I could go out on an old highway and blast away like the good old days.
  6. Hey my girlfriend are going to move to The Flagstaff Arizona area and I was wondering what if there were any race tracks closer than Phoenix?
  7. That makes sense, gr8white, where do you race at? I wont be racing this summer, I will be happy to drive the car and start getting the kinks out. I am just trying to plan ahead and build the car to be legal. Has anyone done any top speed racing? How tight is the tech there? I would imagine it would be much more strict. I have visited the site for the salt flat racing, and found the rules very general. I didn't see any cage certifications.
  8. I live in Oregon but have not raced here. Thats interesting that the west coast seems to be really lax on the tech inspections.
  9. So I guess the consensus is that I find out what I need to change when I go race.
  10. Thanks for the info, I have raced before so I know most of the other rules. I have never raced an independent rear suspension car. Do you have a pic of you fuel cell set up jnjdragracing? I am just getting done with putting a plastic fuel cell in where the spare tire used to be. Did they specify how thick of a shield for the fuel cell?
  11. Is the tech at different tracks that inconsistant? I had no idea. I dont think my car will be faster that 10.00 but dont want to get turned away for not having some safety issue. Thanks for the input.
  12. I have a question for all the gusy running 11.00 or faster at the drag strip. Has NHRA required you to make any safety modifications to the independent rear suspension? I have read the rule book but dont know if it applies to Z-car rear suspension. I wanted to get real world input from tech inspectors.
  13. Hey cozy Z I like the build up and that cradle is a great idea. I have a 73 Z with a small chevy and was wondering if you have any pics of the side pipes and the headers you used. bad_bowtie_84@yahoo.com
  14. I am not putting in a Quaiffe carrier so I dont think it will be to big of a problem. I need to find the three bearings I need and get it back together. I will check out MSA and see if they have any bearings. Couple of the old berings are pitted and gritty feeling so it needed to be rebuilt. The fluid was very black and not much came out, the ring and pinion are in good shape.
  15. I know the r-180 is weak but I need something to get the car rolling and I feel more comfortable with it rebuilt. Call me crazy, I want to get more experience tearing into dfferentals. I am spending all my money on my small chevy swap. I will get a better differental in the future. It had been leaking out of the cover and was caked with dirt. So I figured the fluid was low and that is not good for gears and bearings. I have all the bearings and seals lined up from shucks accept the carrier bearings and the third pinion bearing for 85 bucks. I did notice the shims and kept them in the correct order for each side, I am hoping they will put the carrier in the correct place with the new bearings. The front bearing is very pitted so I am glad I took it apart. Thanks for the tip on the cover gasket, have not looked into it yet. Thanks for all the good info
