ok......so.....here we go i am building a 280z driftamacar but... i havent been able to get away from the HP bug. So i plan on building an engine for 400hp but thats not the important part, the important part is does anyone know where i can get some forged turbo pistons?? i know that people have been custom ordering them left and right. Does a place sell them now to where i dont have to call and speak at people? OR can i use the flat tops forged and use a larger headgasket to bring compression back down or does that screw up the reliablity that i am looking for? Also to finish this up what are the 280zx rods good up to hp wise? Thanks for your help hyb

its not quick steering that I am worried about its the angle itself when the wheel is at full lock while most 240sx and now my friends Subaru get about 55 degrees. we only get about 35 degrees give or take some lol. but what i am getting at is you can drift smoothly without power steering i am just worried about getting enough angle when sideways
-
alright well ive been doing some research on how to increase the steering angle without running a ridiculous amount of toe angle. It will be driven to the track and i don't want weird tread wear or have to ajust it every time im at the track then it fell into my lap it wont increase it by a whole lot here is the link. http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1689619&page=3 this is my friend derek kings subaru that he converted to RWD. You will see about halfway down the page he cuts off where the tie rod connects to the hub. he then grinds down the part of the hub and then he welds where you bolt the tie rod to the hub. And here http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1689619 is where you can see the difference in steering angle, i kno i will have some clearence issues so to get rid of those im also thinking about going with wheel spacers and zg fender flares and some rims with a low offset.

well guys instead of spending close if not more than $1000 or using a VLSD i think im gonna weld my diff. It is a weekend only car anyway i might as well.
-
does anyone know how well the LSD from MSA that you put in the R 200 holds up?
-
well as for welding the diff it seems i dunno... to ghetto lol. I just like to do things the right way lol . How expensive if you know off the top of your head are the 300zx lsd if you don't wanna make me search lol. O and i would also like to kno what you guys think of the paint job??!?!
-
OK so now i am officially confused so if i have a long nose R200 that diff will lock up sufficiently for sliding?
-
yes i have thought about those things. My brother and friends drift and they say its going to be tougher with me sitting in the rear of the car becuase of transitions ill be jostled around more. And yes i will be getting an LSD i have a 77 but it has a 4 speed manual in it at the time. I have a 5 speed that's gonna go into it but i am a little confused on witch diff i have (i think a long nose R200 but the 4 speed manuall throws me off) ill have to check my year of car again. and as for the brand of LSD ive looked around but im not sure yet if you have any ideas and wich is simplest (not welded lol) i would be greatfull.

here are some new seats that i got in they are corbeau Forza 2's.I also put a 240sx shift knob(free) and a MOMO champion(i think) steering wheel. i am currently making a gauge pod where the A/C switches are. I don't like where the gauges in the stereo are they are too low and this is gonna be a dedicated car so i don't care a bout A/C. I used corbeau seat brackets and it sits higher than i like but i can deal with it but if anyone knows how to modify them to make it sit lower and a little more forward (im5'6'') that would be great

here are some pics of the turbo motor. I plan on painting the block and head gold with ceramic paint for the heck of it. and there's all the pistons and stuff getting ready to be cleaned up.
-
Heres some pictures of the NA motor coming out and being tore down. Ive got a turbo engine all tore down. Im gonna rebuild it as soon as my cash flow gets a little bigger again.
-
Here are coupla Pics of my suspension before and after. I got rid of all most of the old stuff and went with Ground controll coil sleeves and Tokico Illuminas. I plan on getting some sportmaxx 002's in gold I'm probably going to go with 15X8. Oh and the the one picture is me and my buddy that works at the shop i go to every so often, lowering the rear as much as possible lol.

Hey guys thought i would share my build its been about a year in the making. I first was gonna setup my Z for Drag and auto X but I live in Ft.wayne Indiana and between supercharged muscle cars and fully gutted imports with huge turbo's if you dont have a high power car you cant compete up here and that tends to get annoying.so i thought i would go in a different direction .I noticed that there aren't many z's that drift being to worn down or to valuable. Ive done quite a bit of body work so I am not afraid to do some more and I wont be street drifting it so I when I drift its gonna be competition with runoffs so it wont get to beat up. Ive had it for a little more than a year and i hope to have it running before summer (very big hope) but as any 20 year old Ive got barley any money. That however is not an excuse because i put every dime i get into this car. So here is some pics i hope you like it:) Here are some pictures of the Interior and the body i will upload more as i find them because i have a lot strewn about on my computer

thanks guys lol well Ive searched and i never found any info depicting the difference so i really just didn't know.
-
I have been looking around for a couple of days and i cannot find the knowledge that i need. The differences in strength and if they are interchangeable without further modification. Between a Naturally aspirated 77 Z crank and a turbo motors Crank. thanks
-
Hey guys ive been asking some questions about my hopeful 400hp build. I was wondering before i start putting the turbo motor together i have a NA motor sitting here. Are their any parts in the NA motor i could use that are stronger? Also how do you identify an LD crank and that can be used with turbo rods and pistons without further modification right? sorry for all the questions its just i cant find what im looking for in the search thanks
-
thanks guys i really appreciate the insight. Ill try and keep things updated. Oh and does anyone know where to buy aftermarket intake manifolds by chance?
-
Well its the P90 head F54 block thats what i plan on using. but I also have a stock N42 sitting in the car. which would be better? I was gonna use stock crank and rods with ross forged pistons. The tuner when i get it all done will hopefully be a guy named Steve Khan that is quite reputable for tuning Drag and Time Attack Rx-7's throughout the U.S., As for the head work im not to sure about what would be the most efficient and and cost effective for my set up considering i plan on using meth and high boost. I plan on doing the porting on the manifolds because is not a hard task and also saves money.
-
thanks for the sarcasm (lol) and the help guys.
-
i have turbo rods and crank but have a N/A block.Wich would be better to use? and no boring except maybe .80 over to fit in the pistons and what forged pistons do you think i should use?
-
Im shooting for over 400 wherever it lands i don't mind.As long as its over that amount.i was wondering if anyone could project if my build would make that much. ________________ my parts list: turbo motor Ross Forged piston Kit ARP Head studs Turbonetics T04 (hoping to run around 20psi) Methanol injection 550cc injectors unspecified cam (not sure yet) MS V3.0 pallnet fuel rail walbro 255 lph fuel pump ____________ thats all i have right now and i was also wondering if i should do just a refresh on the head or go with peformance springs and such. thanks everyone
-
i was wondering if the Corbeau Forza would fit me snug enough. It fits up to a 36 inch waist but i have only a 32 inch waist and im only 5'6''.
-
Are there Sportmax 002's that weak of rims. i heard they break a higher hp numbers and i rather spend my money once than twice lice everyone else

i have researched and ive been looking at megasquirt and haltech ECU's and ive been wondering how hard is it not to tune but to install a megasquirt compared to a Haltech ECU. I want to buy a megasquirt ecu but ive been reading some stuff about people wiring up boards and just a bunch of crazy stuff. I know you have to assemble it but i dont know the first thing about that stuff so how hard would it be for me. And also ive looked but havent been able to find where you buy complete Megasquirt ECU's
