  1. Got measurements last night, and have started looking for possible replacement springs. Advanced Auto is willing to work with me, tg, and order a couple of combination of springs. I am not sure how old the donor is, but the springs don't look to meaty. The biggest problem I had after the V8 conversion, was finding mufflers (duals) small enough to provide performance and the right sound, and still fit under the car. I could not mount them too far back because of the fuel tank.
  2. The chevy 350 is in an running very sweetly. Only problem is that it sets to close to ground with the dual exhaust. Looking for tips on jacking the car up about 2 inches, any advice. Has original Z car struts and springs. Also if you are recommending parts I would appreciate any links tooooooo. deige
  3. My V8 conversion is done, 700R4 tranny, dual exhaust, and sounds great. BUT, I AM TOO CLOSE TO THE GROUND. I need to raise the suspension about 2 inches. I have already gone from the Z car 14" wheels and 24 inch tires to the 15 inch wire spoke rims and 27 inch tires. There seem to be a lot of suspension lowering threads but I have not found a suspension raising thread for Z cars. Can I cut the lower coil spring retainer bracket and re-weld 2 inches higher? Should I replace the coils with longer coils, if so has anyone know which ones to use? Some of you may have experienced this. Thanks for your feedback, I am really stuck on this one. DJ
  4. Thanks for the info on the side marker lights, I will follow up. I know each one of these cars is a blank canvas for us to put in our best shot. New York requires backup lights, I didn't like the lucas style white lights, so I improvised with two tiny (1/4" strobes, placed outside of the red and amber lights. For the most part they are invisible until activated. I will follow up with some pics this weekend to get your opinions. Thanks, DJ
  5. Does anyone know where to get the Tear drop shaped front side marker lights in the US? I found a UK sight that has them, http://www.holden.co.uk/viewProducts...ng&group=010#a but have not ordered from a non-US sight before. Thanks in advance DJ
  6. Well, I chased the L539 link in google images and found them and the sidemarker lights in England: http://www.holden.co.uk/viewProducts.asp?supergroup=Electrical&analysiscode=0052&groupname=Lighting&group=010#a Has anyone purchase form Holden before?? Thanks in advance. deige
  7. Thanks for the info. I am still looking for tear drop shaped front side marker lights, any info would be appreciated. Also in the process of building chrome bezels around head light lenses, what a bear. I wont install them if I can't get them right. I am going to try and contact the VR engineering people, or who ever is running that gig now a days and see if they still have any lying around. deige
  8. I have been working on a 78 280Z Vello Rossa 250 GTO conversion for a couple of months now. What a sweet car! Question: Can I post here, or is there a different thread?? Comment on tail lights and turn signals. I have been mimicking the original 250 GTO on everything except the convertible top, and I have recently located the tail lights (real damn close to the original) and have them installed. They came from California Import Parts and was able to get 2 red, 2 amber, and 2 white for 69 bucks. I sh*t canned the internals and went to Advanced Auto parts and purchased standard GM 2 filament sockets. I drilled holes in the tub to accept the sockets, then fiber glassed the sockets to the back of the tub. I then used the bezels and lens from the lights I purchased from California Imports and screwed them in place. They are very very close to the original. If someone tells me how to load pictures I will upload to show you.
