  1. I would start by saying,Very interesting!I too have a GVR4 and it is a very fun car to drive. Its my daily pack mule for hauling boxes of tools to my truck from home. It has been discussed here before, but never completed that I am aware of.Dont be so quick to poo-poo the L6 either. What it lacks in sophistication,it makes up for in Torque.Torque is what gets it moving! You are going to have to press the 4g63 pretty good to get going.

The 4G is well supported by the aftermarket and a large knowledge base. The DSM forums are full of great info and several cars make really big numbers. But dont kid yourself that those numbers come without a price. You will give up some reliability for those high RPM horsepower numbers on ANY engine.

This swap will closely watched by many people here and I hope you get it together soon.Good luck!!!

  2. Dyno's lie almost as bad as Ricers.I would trust a formula based on car weight and E.T. to figure true HP.Scotty had one posted up here somewhere a while back, but I dont recall the details.I would figure though about 330 to 350RWHP on motor and low/mid 400 ft lb torque. from about 2500rpm up.The nitrous adds about 150hp or so.Others have gone faster with less.

  3. First off,the car looks great.I ,like somebody else posted earlier,am concerned about the fan belt. You are gonna have to add an idler or tensioner pulley somewhere to get the ribbed side of the belt off of the water pump.It will slip like crazy and burn up the belt in a matter of hours,if that long.In Kuwait,I know I would'nt take a chance.Probably be OK for a test drive, but no more than that. The back side of the serpentine belt should ride on the water pump pulley.Good luck!

  4. Coming along nicely.Sounds pretty rowdy too.Its really gonna get a lot of attention now that it stands out so much,so be careful on those test drives. What am I saying,I think the team is waiting for another 60mph burnout vid! I know everytime my car is down for a good while, the 1st thing I do when I get it going again is just FRY the tires off of it.Congrats on a great car ,my hat is off to you. Some guys on this site are really stepping up with these cars lately and you are leading the charge. Thanks for keeping us in the loop!

  5. If you let the other ins. co know you are willing to get a lawyer(whether its true or not),its likely they will write you a check just to be done with it.The adjusters (for both parties) job is to settle the claim for the lowest amount possible.Dont kid yourself that your own ins co. actually cares who is at fault,or how much your rates increase based on some arbitrary fault assignment, they just want it settled as cheaply as possible.Be a thorn in the side of the other guys insurance company.900 bucks is chump change to them, and they will gladly cut you a check to not have to screw around in court, even if they think they would win.Leave your company out of it till you have to.My .02 cents worth.

  6. As I recall, although they did sell them all,it was not a real good thing for Nissan. The price tag ballooned from 20 to 26k and the finished product though nice, was not ACCURATE.The cost to restore the cars supposedly went past the selling price even after the increase. Most of the early restorations were spoken for and I think a deposit left, but the rest were a tough sell.Kind of reminds me of some of our SEZ shootouts,a lot of talk and interest, but not quite enough people coming through in the pinch to justify 2 yearly events.I could not justify 25k or more for any stock 240Z,as much as I like em'.I have seen some VERY nice examples, original, over the years for much, much less. The prices are going up and the nicer ones are dwindleing down but still...27k gets you a heck of a car nowadays.I say 10-15k is fair, but then again, who am I to put a price on somebodys dream....

  7. Diesel,if you hav'nt noticed, cost more than reg. unleaded nowadays.Hard for me to see the economy there.Ask me how I know?(I have 2 diesel Mac Tool trucks).Fuel is KILLING ME!.Not to mention, diesels run like poo, smell bad,and are REAL expensive to repair.(and nobody knows how to diagnose or repair them!).Other than the sheer longevity of a WELL maintained long block, they just dont have much going for them right now.I dont even think the mileage offsets the fuel price difference.Stick to an efficient gas or gas/electric.You'll be happier in the long reun!

  8. Anyone at SEZ8 will tell you,Jon AND his team spent more time under the hood of my car Saturday than he did his own.He was knowledgeable and friendly and I felt lucky to be getting REAL help and evaluation from an obvious expert. We should count ourselves lucky to have him as a member and source of information, especially with nitrous. His cars are well sorted and absurdly fast.I value this kind of knowledge greatly and appreciate his willingness to share it.The things I learn from experienced people like Jon,J&J,Scotty,Zgad,Grumpy, just makes my little car scoot along a little quicker all the time.Racers who suck up the expense of learning what works, and pass it along for free, well,THATS what this site is about for me.I WILL pay it forward at every opportunity. This is what Jons help did for me

    New times

    1/8- 7.34 (I think I had a 7.27 once)

    mph- 120.58

I think I'll update my sig now. Thanks Jon and J&J for all the help. Its a real pleasure to call you guys friends.Steve

  9. The 40's will be enough for up to about double that.Sounds like a neat project.Good luck and post pics! Always like to see a Fairlady Z.BTW,you will likely be happier with the fuel injection.Any stock ECU will run it and they are not hard to come by.Get a factory shop manual and go through the troubleshooting step by step. You will have it running in no time, and it will be more drivable and reliable.
