  1. I currently have 250hp (at the flywheel) and its not so easy, or cheap, to get that.

ø89mm bore, longer rods, cutsom pistons, high lift cam, valves, retainers, porting, triple Mikuni's, headers etc etc etc

    All adds up.

If Mega squirt is out of your league........ think you may be kidding yourself!

    Just go buy a Rebello

  2. I've got triple Mikuni's in my factory EFI car.

It's as easy as take off the EFI gear and put on the triples. ;)

    I have purchased a rebuilt high compression motor (p90 w/ F54 block 10:1)

Are you sure its high compression?

It would need domed pistons or welded chambers. As the P90 heads have a big chamber, due to being made for turbo application.

  3. Great idea.

I've been playing around with mine for years. Trying to learn the differences in changing jets and the effects it has on different circuits. I'm certainly getting better at it.

But, would like to know what are the optimal AFR's also.

I have a book that is kept in the car. It has notes on what the settings, jets are and the weather condition, then I note down the AFR's at different types of driving.

Idle, Accellerate, WOT, cruise, pump, decellerate.

I've also got the manual for the bolt on kit, which has pages with recommended factory settings. I'll scan it and post it up.

  4. Well, I tried running 57.5 pilots.

Didn't have good results. Was running too rich at idle and fouled a plug at the track. Thought I had a major issue. But with some advise from some boys at the track and PMC, I went back down to 55's and dialed the idle screws down a 1/4 of a turn. AFR's about 14 and goes great.

Also noticed I was running 230 airs, not 210's.

    I'm running a PMC bored L28 2.95L @ 10.5:1 with .59" lift.

  5. Been a while since I've checked this thread.

    Been an interesting read.

I'm currently running in my 44's- (used the Webber book recommendations for base)

    55 pilot (52.5 affected higher rpm's)

    160 main

    210 airs

50 pump (45 would lean out and hesitate)

This has made me want to try larger pilots.

  6. Well, at least I've proven that there are guys willing to spend the coin on good bits.

Which was actually my goal, as I have a PMC L30 myself.

But I'm with Helix. This build should have its own thread and get back on topic of the RB26 head!

  7. Point being Tony, as you stated,

If you have a specification to meet, you pay to have it met. PERIOD! Doesn't matter where you're from.

It was just getting in early, before the usual banter started. We are just jelous down here on the pricing and availability you guys have!

How much can you buy a strong Rebello L30 for?

But then how much to ship it over here?

Its good to see that there are guys prepared to get local talent to do these builds here. The main reason we don't just go turbo or RB, is to push the n/a cars to the limits without changing classes for our racing.

Sorry for the off topic Peter.

Is there any more progress with the NC34 twin cam?

  8. That money will cop a bagging from the US guys. They'll call you a rip off and say you can buy a whole Rebello motor for not much more.

What you need to understand is that things cost more in Australia. That's just how it is.

We are a long way from the States, so shipping can kill you.

We don't have as big a market, so production costs for parts are higher.

    Our quality is better :oP

And we get paid more. So it's more relative anyway.

But, these PMC heads are becoming more common down here. And seem to be putting out the highest figures even more so now Les is on board.

  9. My apologies. Brain fade me thinks......

It's the fact your idle screws are 2.5 turns that looks suspicious. Have you removed them and checked the tapers? Maybe they're damaged?

    Defiantly fix the pumps too.

I have 44's. So 57.5 seems too large to me. But the books say 40's have larger pilot jets.

Maybe try a 55, wind out ghe screws 1.5 turns and take it for a drive? 2000rpm is before ghd main jets even kick in, so not a concern at the moment.

Basically, I'd try and get the pumps squirting out (about a meter) and the afr right at 1.5 turns.

  10. What idle jets are you running?

You've not mentioned. And it sounds like your issue, as previously mentioned. You should only be adjusting 1.5 turns on your idle screw, +- 1/4 turn. Any more turn, you need to change jet size.

  11. They look nice! Ebay is kind of hit and miss from what I have experienced. I have heard the quality has gotten alot better than the old days though. I dont know if those are from china but if they are I always heard gusseting around the flange is a good idea. I use to have a dsm and any of the guys that bought the manifolds off of ebay always strengthened them.

Sorry, should have mentioned they were made locally in Adelaide, Australia. Designed by a Tarmac rally guy down here. They were too large for an L26, so should be sweet on my L30

You'll want a 3" exhaust with the engine specs you list.

I was going that way, when funds allowed. Already have 2.5" on, just need to connect.

what was the seller ID on those? I wouldn't mind trying a set. You can pm me if you dont want to put it on hereThanks, Tom

    Sorry mate. Custom job.

    But looking into it.

Any expert opinions on how these will go?

  12. Hi guys,

I got these off eBay. Never seen ones like this before.

And thought I'd get some opinions on what to expect when fitted.

They are tuned length, but a 6-3-1 design.

The primaries are coupled sequentially, in firing order (1&5, 3&6, 2&4). Then they run the 3 secondaries into 1 collecter, that exits via a 2.5" flange.

Should have it running next week, then take it to an exahust shop to mate it to my 2.5 system.

    (L30, domed Forged ø89mm pistons, ported P90 head, FJ20 rods, 76° cam, 590thou lift, triple 44PHH Mikuni's)

    So...... experts, Opinions?

  13. Yes it will be running on crappy pump fuel.

No one but Simon seems to like my engine :(

    Bah ha ha ha

Look at all us newbies on the American forum. Lol

Few world class engines hidden down under! :D

And I don't like it Jake. That's why I'm going to swap it with my PMC L30 ;)
