  1. Spotted this a couple months back and found it interesting. Not feeling complete sentences right now, so...

    Why it works for me:

     - I only want a spoiler for track sessionS.

     - Wouldn't leave hardware exposed when removed.

     - My hatch is FG and lacks strength.

    Concerns:

     - Will an un-braced spoiler like this hold angle at speed?

     - Is it SCCA legal?

     - Will you guys still be my friend?

  2. Looks worse than mine was, and I was upward of about 35-40 different patch panels on my car. If the rear quarter is that bad, so are the floors. The rust behind the front fenders has probably pushed through to the rockers on that end, etc. If it were an earlier car, I'd say go for it, but a 78... Eh, keep looking.

  3. I don't mind paying premium price if I'm getting a premium part. Almost 300 for a flawed part? Don't think I would be happy.

This is my point. $300 for a carbon fiber spoiler isn't a premium price. Look at, for example, the Porsche market, and see how they're paying three times the amount for the same product. At that level, it should be perfection. I do like reviews like this, because as the title states, it is an honest, good review. I just like to see expectations in line with reality.

  4. You get what you pay for. The Datsun crowd (myself included) doesn't like to pay premium prices, so you get companies that take short cuts. The corner sucks, but it looks like you could put some work into it and smooth out the small marks.

    Detailed review though, haha.

  5. What happened that makes you say this? Just curious at who to buy and who not to buy from...

Search the company name on here. He has stolen from multiple people and may not even be an actual business...haven't come across a single good review. I had to contact my credit card company to get my money back after several months.

  6. Ah, got ya. Rough.

As someone who has done floors and rails, I'd have to get about $2500 to do those alone. It's not a fun job...but maybe I'm just a pussy these days, haha. Make sure you poke your head in there unexpectedly and check on the quality of the work. Sometimes there's temptation to cut corners when the pay isn't up to par...

  7. Yup, that's it in the photo I posted.

Needed some bodywork to get perfectly straight, of course, but it's a lot better quality than the other one I had (unsure of what brand that was...not Retro or Seibon). I'm using the stock hinges in front with no torsion bars (even a single torsion bar pushes the hood up—I need to find a solution, but it's low on the list) and it's pinned on the cowl side. I'm no FG hood expert, but I assume any hood that's around 16-18 lbs flexes if it's not pinned at all four corners.

Sorry, can't really find a better photo that show the hinges. When you catch your one-eyed cat riding shotgun...
