Actualy the green wire goes to NEG. coil terminal. As for the car not starting: I had that problem when I installed Crane Cam's ignition box on my 240. Apparently something about the old style tachs not working with the new style ignition (replacing the points) My buddies car did the same thing with MSD's kit. I believe the MSD part # you're talking about is to make an MSD ignition compatible with fuel injection, but I'm not sure. Either way if you have a new autometer tach your car should run just fine with stock or aftermarket ignition. Good luck.

Thanks guys!

Cont: as for the orange wire: ONLY CUT for 4CYL. for 6 or 8cyl DO NOT cut orange wire.

Looking on my 240: red:ign. power
green: coil-
And I also had to cut a brown wire for 6cyl. operation.
For 8cyl. DO NOT cut brown wire on bach of Tach.

Ya know my 240 did something very similar to that, except it was the ammeter that would twitch with the lights on. But not on a regular basis. After about a month and 1/2 the alternator went out. I ended up replacing the alternator and putting the headlights on relays and I haven't had the probelm since. Not sure if this is the same problem on your Z but I hope this helps.

Actualy Tonk Hawk had a cameo. I also enjoyed the flick. However I would have loved to see those Ferrari's in action!

Jim. I bought the car from a kid I used to work with. And I actually helped him install the springs. At that time I didn't know he would sell the car. So the springs are about two years old now. And I'm positive the stuts were not changed the entire 4 years of previous ownership plus the two years I've had it. I'm only guessing the struts are shot since I've ridden in a friend's 240 with the same springs and tire size. It rode alot better than mine....

Cool! literaly!

So if I want my car say 2-3 inches lower than stock I the ride quality on the street would benefit from coilovers and sectioned struts? Right?

I'm looking to use a Taurus fan. What year/model should I pull from?Is it an sho, etc....?

I think MSA sells them. Info at zcarparts.com

I agree with griemann. I installed a set of MSA autopal kit. The bulbs do shine brighter than the sealed beam type but not true hid. One thing I defenitely recommend is installing a relay for the headlights otherwise the datsun headlight switch will get hot and possibly damaged. I also highly recommend the PIAA brand super white h4's as they are the closest to hid as I've bought.

Cool. Thanks guys. I'm going check the basics first before I get in over my head!

Thanks John. Currently I have the S/T lowering springswith stock struts. That's how I bought the car anyways. Tire wear isn't a problem now with regular rotations. I'm looking to do a complete overhaul of the suspension for two reasons. 1 It rides like crap right now and 2 I don't like the stance the car has. It looks lower in the rear than in the front. I would like to do the coil-over conv. to make it sit the way I like, but I don't want it too ride any worse and I don't want to buy new front tires every six months because fo -camber. I'm pretty sure the struts in there now are shot. So i THINK replacing them would solve the bouncing problem.... Anyone Have any thoughts on that?

Hey Joe. Sounds like a great idea. I'm new at this whole Z thing and It's always nice communicating with real faces and seeing different Z cars in person. I'm in!

Thanks, Tomahawk. 4 inches sounds like alot. From what understand does sectioning the struts help the car ride smoother? If not should look into keping the stock length struts....

I have a '72 240z and plan to use the ground-control coil over kit on all four corners. I also plan to section the struts about 1.5" Has anyone who has done this had problems with camber spec./tire wear. I guess my question is Do I need to use the offset camber bushings and/or camber plates? I drive the car regularly on the street. No racing or track use. Thanks guys.

Just a thought. Ground control sells their coil-over kits with Eibach springs with any rate. Why not get the Best of both worlds!

Those ground control camber plates can also be purchased direct at ground-control.com for $300. Got a set last month!
