  1. Baby Jesus.. I'm all caught up.. so no more updates for a few weeks.. Just waiting on some fittings for the oil return lines and some coolant lines.. more to come! My birthday was in May and look what my buddies got me! We're going to race in July.. hopefully the Z will be alive by then!
  2. T3 LCA's and TC rods came in! Cusco front strut came in.. nothing fancy but I love car parts.. -=) And the gas tank is back and installed. I bought a solid diff mount a buddy had laying around.. and ZCC tow hooks came in as well.. lovely! one for me and one for my buddy.. and here's a look at the new fuel lines that were ran
  3. thanks for the heads up and we are.. I'm looking to have a custom heat shield made and I'll probably get that space foil just in case.. the ceramic coating is good at holding in heat up to 1600deg I believe. Nonetheless you are 100% correct. That was my concern but my brother (part owner of the shop) told me not to worry. That will take place before the car ever hits the road..
  4. CUSTOM AXLES CAME IN!!!! Totally wasn't what I was expecting. SUPER BEEFY. Custom STI inner, Porsche CroMo axles, 240z outter. all CV joints vs. the u-joints. Rated at 700hp And at the end of the day this was cheaper than getting John's STI stubs with the wolfe axle setup. Plus this holds more power. These can be replicated for anyone who is interested. and the axles with the car on the ground.
  5. I pulled out the gas tank.. had it boiled out and cleaned.. sent it to out welder and had him put in a custom baffle with the sump I purchased.. it came out ok.. here's how it looked..
  6. I sent out my plumbing to get ceramic coated. It took over a month but it was worth the wait. These pictures don't do it justice. The quality is phenomenal. The exhaust side of the turbo came out beautiful The turbo mani, wastegates and dump tubes were mocked up to see how it'd look.. I'm satisfied with going this route. And turbo and downpipe put in.. Now I wish I didn't return the old polished intake manifold. I would swap it out but the current one is port matched already. Would hate to have paid for that and not use it.. oh well.. It'll look something like this when it's done.. probably use different intake piping but at least it gives me a general idea.
  7. I sold my old motor with the red top so I have grey one back.. the blue will be saved for the final product BLOX vacuum box. Fuel lines that I'll be using. Going to remove my old stock lines. Sump I'm going to use for a baffled gas tank. I bought a STi R180 so I'm removed my R200 in preparation for the diff and new axles. I removed the old bushings off the mustache bar and put in poly bushings And everything mounted.. The R180 is ugly as crap but I got it for 250 SHIPPED. Couldn't ask for more.. it's a 04 STi diff with the 3.9 gear that I needed.
  8. I sent the car out to a local fab shop and he made me a custom twin scroll manifold. He took some pics of the build process for me. he also made a custom full v-band exhaust for me while he was at it.
  9. Out with the old! And in with the new!!! (we used a spare valve cover.. didn't want to scratch the goods.. hehe) It was a very nasty fit.. so I had to return the manifold. time for a custom one off manifold!
  10. crankshaft came back.. I had it balanced at the machine shop.. you can see where they did some grinds to balance the weight. Block being put together.. We brought it back to the shop and put on the head. Apex'i headgasket! and a quick mock-up to enjoy its beauty!!
  11. Oct. 2010... Goodies came in the mail!! GT35R divided housing, 2 Tial 44mm v-band WG's, Tial 50mm BOV. My Full-Race manifold that didn't end up working!! dammit! I had to return this afterwards and ate a crappy restocking fee.. But it worked out for me at the end of the day. Notice that each runner is cut after it was all put together. It was suppose to relieve stress on the flange and runner during heavy use. I love car parts in the mail.. it's better than Christmas! quick mock up of everything..
  12. Still running tires from my old setup.. BFGoodrich gForce Sports.. after these are done I'm not getting anything under 200 treadwear.. at the track I'm running Hankook Ventus Z214 on a spare set of wheels.
  13. far from it.. this has to be Hung.. LOL Shop is closed tomorrow but we're going to go and work on the Z.. maybe it'll be finished very soon
  14. that is what i'm doing now. i had the sump put in but i also used a perforated sheet of metal to make a baffle. hopefully the car will be up and running soon and I can share my results
  15. the RB is a great setup. I originally wanted to do a LSx swap or an RB but after sitting down more and thinking about what I wanted at the end of the day the SR fit my needs.. In the beginning I only wanted 300 HP.. but I should have known better. With the friends and family I have going big was the only way. So since I had the SR it worked out very well. And with how balanced the car is now I don't regret it one bit. The car is pratically a midship vehicle... entire engine sits behind the front cross member/axles
  16. The injectors were bought before I knew I going to do a turbo upgrade.. I'm going to run this for a year maybe and I'm doing e85 on 1200cc injectors. But thanks for the heads up.
  17. I sent out the head to get ported and to have the block bored & honed, decked, etc. it took forever to get it back! the head this was the sand finish intake manifold I mention before. it was port matched to the head. now I'm just waiting on the turbo parts that I ordered.
  18. aside from all of that I had to pick up some other parts that I would need. timing chain tensioner oil pump and timing chain cover new hydraulic lifters ARP head studs supertech valve guides and valve stem seats
  19. July 4th 2010.. EnjukuRacing.com has a sale for free shipping.. so I decided to buy a crap ton of parts and do a completely built motor.. what ends up happening after i get all the parts? 80% of what I bought was being sold on CL for a fraction of the cost.. I returned everything to enjuku and ate a huge restocking fee. In the end I still came out on top with a $300 restocking fee!.. SWEET! here's all the goodies I picked up lightweight pulleys apexi 1.1mm headgasket greddy baffled oilpan.. ended up not working for my setup so I sold it and got something else.. CP 8.5:1 pistons BC ProSeries rods BC adjustale cam gears (if you have a s13 sr20 don't buy this. You need a cam gear with a spider gear on the exhaust side. Only HKS sells it.) BC Stage 3 cams BC valve train and valves greddy rocker arm stoppers (RAS) and a buncha other goodies i'm going to put to use! here is what I did keep from Enjuku Racing.. ISIS short shifter s14 throttle pulley for the intake manifold and a magnetic drain plug intake manifold.. i swapped it for the sand finish opposed to polished though
  20. it's a completely new setup now.. I don't want to spoil everything just yet.. but it is a twinscroll (divided housing) gt35r dual ball bearing.. turbo manifold is customer 1 one off.. i bought the Full-Race and it didn't fit! waste of money plus -25% restocking fee! LAME! still running the PFC and it kicks ass.. new setup is going to run 850cc injectors w/ a HKS style fuel rail.. i haven't been told the front flexes since i can't see for myselfvbut a front diffuser and rear APR gtc-200 wing (on a spare hatch for the track) is in the works.. not sure when that will happen though because I just spend a chunk of change for the current stuff.. aurgh! since I'm spilling the beans I'll update all the other pictures.. might as well.. hehe
  21. the airdam is urethane.. i do too much hard driving to worry about the front of the car.. i know this will spoil my thread... but here is my current progress on the car.. I promise I won't disappoint with the updates to come.. I'll post more tomorrow night
  22. LoneStar, the car is FAR form finished.. it just takes a bit to post up everything.. i love the SR and wouldn't have done it any other way. I had the car weighed and i practically have 50/50 weight distribution... and the car is so freakin light.. it only weighted 2260.. here is the scale with me in the car. the engine sits way far back and it helps the balance out a lot. its a super fun car and I would say reasonably priced compared to doing a RB swap. an RB would have been nice but I would just be paying more for bling factor.. you can see in the track day vid.. after the slow cars finally pointed me over the Z was haulin ass! oh yea.. the hood was from MSA.. but I was told they don't sell it anymore? I bought the hood back in 2008? more pics of the current build to come..
  23. I ditched the grant steering wheel and got a Nardi Classic 330mm steering wheel. Also added a NGR Thin Quick release hub adapter. found a sweet deal on the JDM Fairlady badges on craigslist.. I covered it up with masking tape and used an exacto knife to expose the border. Painted it black and for the most part it looks great. no much else happened for a few months.. I took the car out the Buttonwillow for the first time. It was wet and it slowly cleared up throughout the day. Car did pretty well. Here is the video of my track day. My 4th Session beginning of the video is pretty boring till I pass the miatas.. and my 5th (last) session of the day.. the gas tank isn't baffled so coming out of the corners with 1/3 tank of gas sucked. It was just bog until it finally had more fuel.
  24. I finally get around to getting a standalone for the car. the car getting ready to get dyno'd at the end of the day the car put down about 250whp and 280tq. Not too bad.. running on the stock ecu with a piggy back I was only able to make 230whp For my birthday I spoiled myself and bought the AZC big brake kit. To my surprise my friends and family pitched in and got me a rear disc brake conversion! I'm truly blessed to have great friends. I ordered new shocks, GC coilovers and a Bride seat because the Corbeau was killin me. I needed something that was built to fit an Asian guy.. When I took turns I was sliding around the seat and it was difficult to shift. my brother and buddy helping me install the seat (more like installing it for me actually) The suspension components were removed for my new shock and coilovers. The perch was cut off and smoothed out. Then I had the new perches welded on. we lowered a few inches just to see how low it could go.. I'd never have it this low though.. not my style. I prefer function over slammed.
  25. So after the car was sanded down and problem areas treated I bought some RustBullet and tested to see how it would work in the engine bay. I bought the automotive one but it was still rather thick. I didn't use it for the rest of the car because it would have given it a pretty nasty finish. At least the engine bay will be safe... pictures of when the car was done being painted.. It was then towed to the shop to have the McKinny mounts welded in and the motor dropped in. The car is finally home form the shop and I had the exhaust done. It sits kind of low but with 3 inch piping it was hard to tuck. more pictures of the car at home.. My buddies Z. He started building his Z the same time I built mine too. I had auto meter phantom gauges put in.
