  1. Hey guys if really been considering this swap because of how hard it is to find aftermarket parts for the L28 (also the limited power you can pull out of them). But if been doing some research and found out that the ka block will bolt up to the l28 tranny (not sure how true it is found it on zcar.com). So I was wondering what you would have to change for the motor mounts if it would drop in or if I could use the McKenny SR20 mount kit because the ka and the SR share the same mounts in the s chassis.. love to have any adtional info on the swap from other people that have done it, words of wisdom. Oh and I do plan on going turbo with it
  2. Ok guys heres an update. Bought a new AFM and changed that out still nothing.. Bought a used ECU off ebay with the same vin as mine and nothing changes yett.. Heres the weird part i got a ECU out of a 82 280ZX NA L28 and it actualy runs But it runs really rough smokes ALOT! It does stay running with the 280zx ECU untill i shut it off but like i said runs realy rough
  3. Well when I bought the car the guy said it burnt a little oil so I just wanted to make sure it was ok . Also going to do a leak down test next weekend to make sure the rings are still good.
  4. Hey guys just did a compression test today and I was wondering if the members were good for my motor I mean they seemed dead on they all ranged from 115-1120 not going above or below, was just wondering If that was correct or lower then what it should be Thanks

Ok guys i have a problem as well my car starts runs for a few seconds then dies i can re start it and it will do the same thing i can repeat this about 5 times then it wont start at all. the guy i bought it off of said it sat for 6 years and then he started it and let it run for a while (before i came to buy it) and it died and did the same thing its doing now. any ideas ?
  6. Also does any one have reviews on the Mckinney S13 Meagan coilover kit ? Cause thats what it looks like its going to come down to for me.
  7. does it come with hub assy's ? cause every thing iv found requires to weld onto factory strut tubes, i have no problem with that i weld for fun as it is lol.
  8. Hello everyone got another qustion. I was wondering if there is a build thread or any info out there about using Integra DC2 coilovers on the S30. I know that you can do it i was just wondering where you get the threaded sleve to fit over the stock tube and screw into the coilover? i was planning on going with the McKinney S13 Meagan kit, but was wondering if the sleves they sell for the S13 kit would work for the DC2 Coils. Just looking for some info because i know DC2 coils can go lower ( building my car for show, daily and weekend warrior), and iv had a S13 coupe on Meagans and god did the ride suck/ not too much of ride height change even with taking out the bottom locks.

  11. for the tester you mean like basicaly a little light bulb that plugs into the injector wiring and flashes when it should fire ? cause iv seen people use them just never bought one
  12. my favorite thing to bleed mine is a really small cresent wrench its about 3 inches long i break it loose the first time a finaly tigheten it with a 3/8 drive ratchet though

Sorry guys forgot to ask one thing, i was wondering is there any way to bench test the injectors? im thinking there might be one stuck open/wont fire, can i just pop them off still attached to the fuel rail and try and trick the fuel pump on from the AFM flap ? or do i have to take them some where and have them tested that way ?
  14. Hello all, my names Shane i just joined this forum but was on zcar.com by the same name, and i couldent exactly get the awnsers i needed and everyone advised to come here so i did! My car is a S30 76 datsun 280z with 74k orignal miles all stock L28E Now the reason im here, when i bought the car the guy had it from 82 (im the third owner) but it had been sitting 4 years. So the day i went to buy it he told that he had it running to warm it up (the clutch was frozen so i couldent test drive it) but when i got there he explained to me that he had it running for a few mins while he was in the house and when he came back out it was shut off, he tried to start it agin but it would only idle for 2-5 seconds then die, When i got the car home i did a coupple thing to it to freshen it up and fix the clutch, changed the oil, filter, spark plugs, drained the tank and added 10 gallon of 93 + fuel injector cleaner, changed the fuel pump (he had a new one to go along with it) and changed the clutch,pressure plate, thowout bearing, slave cilinder, and master cilinder. So the problem its still doing the same thing from when i bought it (starts up and idles for 2-5 seconds then dies), i figured if it was like any other nissan (had a 89 nissan 240sx coupe with a ka24e) that if you MAF was bad you could unplug it and the car would still start and eather run like shit (rich as hell) or just idle for a few seconds and die, so i tried that and figured that the AFM was bad and ordered a remanufactured one. Well it came in the mail today and tried that but yet its still doing the same thing. Also i changed the boot from the throttle body to the AFM because there was a dry rot crack in it, and i check the intake mani and all hoses for any ail leaks thinking it might be sucking air and leaning it out causing it to die, but still found nothing.... So i plan on changing the fuel pressure regulator tomrow (the one on the fuel rail) had ordered one but never put it on. Also i have a new PCV valve for it never put it on yet eather, was wondering if that would have any thing to do with it ? (i wouldent imagine it would cause its for emissions) Does any one have any experince with these setups or has this happened to any one else ? i checked the voltage going to it and it all checks out ( dont know exactly what it should be getting but it seems about what it should be) Thank you all for looking just hoping to get it running right cause if i cant soon im just going to do a SR20DET swap into it with every thing from mckenny motorsports, As much as i would love to keep the origonal L28E if i cant get this thing figured out ill end up swaping it Oh and sorry if my spelling sucks i know it does just always has (got bashed on ZCAR.com for my spelling)
