If you want holes that big its better to start with a 280Z block,I'm not sure there is enough material in the 240 block to go that big. You run the risk of hitting water or developing a crack later on.

That little steel stub axle is bearing the wieght of the whole car, your lucky the wheel didnt depart the car at speed.

Looks like you broke the stub axle, were you snaching the gears when it happend ?
