  12. The valve train issues for a sbc at Ultra High RPMs are (1) Valve spring pressures, (2) Push rods and (3) Cam flex. (1) High valve spring pressures are unavoidable in a high rpm, high lift, high flow, 2 valves per cylinder engine due to the weight of the large valves. Ever notice that the High Rev exotics use 4 valves per cylinder? One of the reasons is a smaller valve weighs less and requires less spring pressure to prevent valve float. Higher spring pressures also place more stress on the rest of the valve train. (2) Push rods experience NASTY harmonics above 10,000 rpms and can literally shatter/explode! (3) Cam flex is BAD and directly related to shaft diameter, valve lift, spring pressure and RPM. In short, the more spring pressure and rpm, the more cam flex is experienced! The BEST solution would be the use a 4 valves per cylinder head capable of high rpm. Like this for example, http://www.araoengineering.com/ Unfortunately this would NOT be an inexpensive option.
  13. Yes there will be harmonics at 10,000+ rpms that will destroy the push rods! Smokey Yunick wrote about this years ago while testing NASCAR engines. Mark
  14. To run a single-plane crank in say a sbc would not only require said custom crank, but custom pistons, rods, camshaft and re-programed ECU if you what to run EFI!!! Not to mention that push rods will FAIL at 10,000+ rpms! No way in hell would this be a inexpensive build! Might as well get the Hartley H1 V8 at under 30K. http://www.h1v8.com/page/page/1562068.htm Mark

  16. Ernie, if you need a 240Z I still have the one you came to look at! I'd just as soon give it to you for FREE if you'll only stay and help me paint my other 240Z! Administrators: IF the TOOL or TOOLS that harassed Ernie did it using this site's private e-mail feature, could it not be traced? Mark
  17. Well, Sparks I do not consider him to be an idiot. On the contrary, he is a doctor! By the way, I forgot to mention that he was born and raised in the DEEP SOUTH, Mississippi to be exact! But he has lived in California for over 20 years and still has his southern drawl! Improper speech was but one of the reasons, others being bad neighbors, rain in the summer time, feeling like an "outsider". Mark
  18. Hm... Well I hope the move works out for you Davy! Two and half years ago my family doctor moved to Hickory, NC so he could be closer to his relatives. Well after about a year and a half, he moved back to California, I asked him why? (His words, not mine) He replied that he got tired of people who could not speak proper English, let alone speak in complete sentences! Again, those were his words, not mine! For the record, I have never been to NC. But I hear property is much less expensive than here in Kalifornia! Davy, you may want to consider keeping and leasing your California property just in case. 22. The "Sound" can be reproduced but it takes a flat plane-crank or 180` exhaust headers. Here is a link explaining the differences between a cross-plane V8 and a single-plane V8. http://www.autozine.org/technical_school/engine/smooth4.htm Mark P.s. I'm sure one of the major crankshaft manufactures can make one for the right amount of $$$.
