  1. Bumping a seriously old thread here, but I wanted to see if anyone knows if Spinwerks are still available anywhere? I'd love to get my grubby little hands on a set of 16x8 wheels! Why didn't I buy these last year?!?!
  2. Sorry that was auto correct. The wheels are called Rota Wired. I just realized they don't come in 16" tho
  3. What kind of suspension and tire size are you running? That is a great fit!
  4. For those of you running 16x8 what tires sizes are you running and what suspension? I'm looking for 16x8 all around with maybe 225/50/16 tires. I will run eibach progressives with tokico blues. I wanna know if I need to roll my fenders or trim back the stock perch to prevent rubbing. Thanks for your help. Also if anyone has pictures of rota wires or rota flush wheels please share them. Would love to see them mounted on a 240
  5. Hey everyone, I own a 1971 240z with a vg30e motor swap that was done by a previous owner. I'm looking for more power and have read up quite a bit on the nA to turbo conversions. I have found a 1985 300zx turbo donor car and I'd like to do the conversion. I'm no mechanic so i do need help. Does anyone have any shop or mechanic recommendations for this type of work?
  6. Thanks for your replies, I have used the search function as well as looked through the majority of both of those threads. I have still yet to see a thread specific to suspension. Most of the images only state wheel size and offset. That's why I posted this.
  7. I saw those, are they really the same? They look completely different to me. Am I losing it?
  8. hey everyone, in starting this thread to hopefully get a good visual representation of various lowering spring and strut combinations. I'm personally looking for a good handling suspension without the super stiff uncomfortable ride. I live in a big city so pot holes rule the streets around here. I'm looking specifically for pictures of eibach progressive and tokico blues on a 240z, but I'm open to seeing other combinations. Please list what springs and shocks you are using and what wheels and tire sizes as well. Hopefully this will serve as a great aid for all Z owners looking for a specific stance. Thanks in advance everyone! D
  9. This is one of the cleanest Z's I've ever seen. Does anyone know where I can find this airdam? The article i read on this car says its a 280z with a carbon fiber BRE front airdam but I've looked on the net and can't find anything that looks like it. If i do find it will it fit on a 240z? Thanks in advance!
  10. Hey everyone! So I'm not the most mechanically inclined, so please bare with me. I have 1971 240z with a vg30e motor swap done by a previous owner. I want more power out of it and I got a quote to have rebello build it to @300hp. It's not cheap, but it seems like it would be something i really like. I was also thinking of bolting on turbo parts from the vg30et but then I run into compression issues etc. I recently found a 1988 300zx turbo that I can buy and swap the entire motor, tranny, and rear end. Please correct me if I'm wrong, but that car comes with a r200 clsd rear end right? So my question is would the motor just drop in or with there need to be a lot of fabrication like custom mounts and or custom manifolds? Also which ecu would you recommend for such a swap? Just use the stock ecu from the 300zx or go for a mega squirt type system? My goals are a street driver car with decent power that will be reliable and fun to drive. I may occasionally track it but not a big focus. Somewhere around 250hp-300hp is more than enough power. Thanks in advance!
  11. Thanks for your reply. I've read you can bolt on the turbo parts and run low amounts of boost with the higher compression without too much worry. Do you have a recommendation on where to source these parts and around what they should cost?
  12. Hey everyone, looking for some advice here about my beloved 240 that I've had for over a year now. A little info, the 1971 240z was purchased with a vg30e and 5 speed manual. When I bought it, I didn't know a ton about the motor, but it looked very clean and has proven to be incredibly reliable. I drive the car a few times a week on the street. This car probably won't see much track time. I'm now looking at my options for a little more power. I recently considered getting a v8 240 but after test driving one that was way more power than I'll need (at least i think so) Anyways, I've done some research and there doesn't seem to be much potential with the Vg30e. My goal would be somewhere around 200-220 at the wheels. So now some of the options I've been considering are 1) build the motor and keep it NA. Possibly Rebello if they work on these. 2) look for a vg30et to swap in 3) look for a l28et to swap in My question is which will be the most cost effective, most reliable, and easiest to do. I'm no mechanic so I can't do this work myself. I have a few mechanic friends who can help me, but I don't think they have extensive experience with these exact swaps. Any advice and opinions are appreciated. Also if there's any good options I'm missing please let me know. Thanks! D
  13. Sound advice guys. I actually picked up a nice pair of Porsche OEM seats that I'm going to try and install. The tricky part for me is going to be the wiring.
  14. For anyone looking to do this I recommend removing your glove box as well as your heater console. This will give you 2 points of access. Each gauge then disconnects via one bolt each. With some finesse you have to then either disconnect the wires so you can work on each gauge or you can do it the hard way like I did and work on it still attached. You have to remove the light socket and like someone mentioned in this thread, the light won't work again until it is plugged back into the gauge. For the LEDs I chose, they were too tall to simply plug back in, so I had to use a grinder on my dremel to drill out where the green plastic bulb caps attach. Once these are removed you can put in your new bulbs and piece it all back together like Humpty Dumpty. Also the bulbs I got were from superbrightleds.com Each small gauge takes 1 bulb and the tach and speedo take 2 each. Turn signals and parking brake are extra. Bulb type is BA9s. Hope this helps anyone else who aims to do this. Cheers!
  15. I ended up just dremeling out the green caps while the gauges were still attached. Made it hard on myself but I got it done. Thank you all for your help. You guys are great! Now to tackle my power seat install.......
