  1. Sounds good, do you have any pics? Also excuse my lack of knowledge but what are moogs?
  2. Like the title says, I'm looking for a shop recommendation in the Bay Area California for motor swaps. I currently have a 1971 240z with a VG30E motor swapped in to it. I recently came across a VG30ET for sale and I'm very interested. If anyone has shop recommendations please send them this way! Thanks everyone!
  3. What problems did you run in to? Any advice? I'd really like to get a working tach in there.
  4. Ok so there is no screws, I thought I was blind or going crazy. Just remove the wing nuts and I can push it out through the front. I guess I'll give it a shot. So the housing, and lens are all together and will come out in one piece? Thanks everyone for your help!
  5. There is indeed a dash cap put in place by the previous owner. I'm guessing the screws mentioned are covered by it because I didn't see any. That could prove to be a problem as I think the dash cap is taped on. Can anyone provide a pic of these screws as I don't want to risk breaking the dash cap while trying to remove it if I don't have to.
  6. Hey everyone, I need a little help with my speedo/tach issue. I did some searching and found some info on putting new gauges in the stock position, but not too much info on getting the stock meters out. A little background on my car....... It's a 1971 240z with a vg30e motor swapped in. Several previous owners ago did it. Basically my tachometer doesn't work, I'm guessing it's not compatible. So I want to install an autometer in the stock housing, but I need to know how to remove the existing stock one. I read it comes out from the front, but I don't see how. There is a lens on the front and it looks connected to the dash to me. If anyone can shed some light I'd really appreciate it. I don't want to have to remove the entire dash. Also if anyone can tell me how to wire it up for this specific application that would be great too. I'm still new to all of this, but I'm willing to learn and I have a few people who can help me. Thanks for reading! Dave
  7. Anyone running 15x9 wheels with 215/60/15 tires? I'd love to see some pics of the stretch. I'm thinking of moving up in diameter from 225/50/15 to help fill my fender gap and get closer to the stock tire diameter.
  8. Nice! What size tires and what kind of suspension are you running? Rolled fenders? That is about the perfect wheel fit in my opinion.
  9. Is the +4 offset necessary or will zero fit as well? 225/50/16 is an ideal tire size. I'm running on OEM shocks and NON rolled fenders
  10. I'm running staggered 205/55/15 in the front and 225/50/15 in the rear. The diameter is indeed smaller than stock and the increased wheel gap bugs me. I'm actually ok with the ride height as is, but the disappointing thing is I can't find 225/55/15. I don't think anyone makes them. This is originally why I was considering 16's strictly so I could run a 225 tire that is very close to the stock diameter. I didn't really see any 16's I liked that we're easily attainable. I guess I kind of like the Xxr 002's. I wouldn't mind a set of 3 piece panasports tho haha. I think 205/60/15 is available which is same diameter as stock, but I'd really prefer a wider tire. I think I'm going to pass on the lowering springs and try to find proper tires or move up to 16's.
  11. Thought I'd add a pic of my Z just for reference. After getting the new wheels with a slightly lower diameter tire, the wheel gap just kills me. What wheel and tire size are you running? I really like the shakotans, but I may have to move up to 16's just to get the tire size I want (225/50/16). That would be equal to the 195/70/14 I had on my old wheels.
  12. Thanks for that info Rob, your Z looks great. I almost feel it defeats the purpose of getting new springs to cut them though. Maybe I should just cut my stocks? I'm a little disappointed that the eibachs run uneven like that. I was hoping the reports of uneven ride height were due to the incorrect installation.
  13. Sorry I forgot to mention that I do have a 240z. I'd like to lower the car and don't want to cut coils. I'll also be running OEM shocks.
  14. Hey everyone, I'm looking for lowering springs and MSA recommended the Eibach springs they sell for a city driver. I've done my searches and read reports of the front being higher than the rear. I've also seen people say they installed the wrong springs in the front. What I haven't found is if these two are related. For those of you with Eibach springs, who has experienced the front being higher than the rear after installation? If you have, was it because the fronts were installed in the back or vice versa? Apparently the correct way to install the Eibachs are the longer springs in the front with the tighter coils at the top. I'd like to get an answer to this as I'm paying to have it installed and I really don't want a uneven ride height with the front being higher than the rear, and then having to pay again to put other springs in to correct such a problem. Thanks in advance!
  15. I saw similar ones on the centerline website but it didn't have as many holes as mine and they only come in 15". Anyone else have insight to what wheels these are or if there are 16's that exist in something similar.
  16. Hey everyone, I need a little help ID'ing these wheels. They came on the 240z I bought. They are 14" and I wanted to see if they come in 16" or 17". Thanks for your help!!!
  17. Hi all, I'm interested in adding a front wind splitter to my 240z. I currently have a Xenon airdam, and I think a splitter will cut lift as well as reinforce the airdam. I haven't been able to find any specifically made for the 240z. I did see a fairly inexpensive universal one made from duraflex. Has anyone tried these? I'm also looking for side splitter ideas. Have any of you used universal or other car specific side splitters? I'm looking for something that will fit length wise and bolt on fairly easily. Please share pics or ideas if you have any. Thanks in advance!
  18. After going to the wcn today I really like the look of 16's. I'm thinking 16x8 in the rear with 225/50/16 and 16x7 in the front with 205/55/16. Now just to pick some rims. Seems rota RB are such a popular choice. What 16's is everyone else using?
  19. Trimming the air dam isn't that big a problem, I had to cut quite a bit of it to get it to fit properly around the custom bumper and tow hook. I would just be bummed out to have to trim it now because I just plastidipped it and it's looking so clean! Oh well, it's the price we pay for nice wheels. What 16's do you have Scott? Can you share some pics please?
  20. I just installed a Xenon air dam today and I'm a little worried about the front clearance now when turning. It baffles me how some of you guys are fitting 225's and wider on stock fenders. I guess I won't know till i try.
  21. It's ok, I'm in the same boat. I want 16's but the selection is super limited. I've considered Enkei 92's and spinwerk 82's but I am still looking. Shakotans are my 15" rim of choice (for now).
  22. Do you have a link? I did a search and didn't find anything.
