What about comparison for the suspension from the 260z to the 280z? It's an early 260 so it's very much like the 240z, but unaware of differences..
-
What would be the solution?
It will be stronger than the R180. Good that you got all of the parts. Go down to March 5, 2014 on this page and you'll find one potential issue, if using the stock control arms. Not enough room, binding half-shaft.

So all refurbished, this should be a very nice upgrade for my early 74 260z with a v8?
Thanks for the info!

Hi Guys
I am about to purchase a complete rear end setup from a 1978 280z. The owner claims the car was a manual, and I'm needing to know how to identify that the car really was a manual. I know that if the car was truly a manual, then the rear end is indeed a R200. Any tips or identifiers on the rear end or the car being a manual is much appreciated. I've listed a link where I sourced the majority of my info.

Thanks,

Photos can be seen via the link below. I've attached two pics which show the car as it was on the day I purchased, and how it sits now. The car has been almost completely restomodded less completion of the paint, EFI, audio, and A/C. Pics tell the story.

What did you use to roll the lip?
Molded/rounded 2x4 and had help pushing it back and forth. Can use that or a wooden baseball bat. Works great!

Check out the album. We cut out the floor, replaced with 18 gauge steel, and made custom brackets. They are RX-8 seats and I plan on having them recovered. With the bumpers, I'm going to straighten them out (get rid of the dings) and paint them a dark grey.

I'm the guy who bought Bill's Z. Link below for the progress. Working on getting the bumpers I sourced from a 73 240z fixed and fitted, installing a parking brake, finishing the interior, some wiring, and some tuning. Last thing will be repaint the current color.

I used a molded/carved 2x4 and rolled it back and forth to roll the wheel wells. That or a wooden baseball bat would work great.

Like the progress pics. I need to make one of mine. Have tons of pics.

I have a 71 hatch with louvers, good shape, and located in Tulsa, OK. LMK.

Found myself a set of 17x7.5's for the front with 17x8.5's for the rear. Sitting on 245/45/17 rubber. rolled the fender lips and they work perfect.
